In my testing VDXR is the most performant way to run VTOL VR on a Quest. Currently it requires a workaround of replacing "OVRPlugin.dll" with a modified version that is not officially supported by anyone, yet some players are doing it anyway. Adding native VDXR support to VTOL VR would many Quest users squeeze in a few more frames without janky workarounds that may cause trouble down the road.

if this was to be added, I guess the best thing to do would be to allow both oculus and vdxr for users. maybe running the game with "vdxr" instead of oculus? just switching out the .dll does work already though
I would be surprised if OpenXR isn’t generally the most performant option for any headset that supports it.
To clarify, “VDXR” is Virtual Desktop’s OpenXR implementation. I think the actual ask here is for general OpenXR support.
Native OpenXR/VDXR support
I've adjusted the title, thanks.
Native OpenXR support is in public_testing v1.10.0p19
How do I enable OpenXR for VTOL VR?
ask in #tech-support or #public_testing please
So, I assume this is OpenXR version 1.1, which means there's support for eye tracked dynamic foveated rendering in VTOL VR by default now?
According to @wraith oyster , yes
This is excellent news. I have a Quest Pro, will see if I can test it sometime later today, along with VDXR and the quadviews plugin from mbucchia.

DFR didn't work for me. I have raised a bug report
better performance
Just a heads up for fellow Virtual Desktop users. The live version of VRD released this morning will launch VTOL with VDXR (OpenXR) from the Games tab if you are using that version. If you are not it will launch it with OpenVR as before.
What is the best way to launch VTOL? OpenXR? OpenVR? SteamVR?
I’m not really familiar with any of these lol
Except SteamVR
