#C130 / HEAVY AIRCRAFT

Your good
I think if you eject and then once your on the ground you can press in the thumb stick to walk and press in the thumb stick and trigger to teleport
The A400M would work to since it already features a side stick and many systems similer to vtol vr although, a Ac130 would be awsome and provide good and engaging gameplay for pilot and co pilot. that solves the boring problem also if there was a conquest gamemode where logistics matter. if i am repeating anything already said i didnt read the whole feed lol.
A conquest or territory control where you have to supply and support infantry across a large scale battle field could be a cool approach
Transporting 20-40 troops with a huge cargo plane being escorted by f-45s and f-26Bs while ef-24s jam targets sounds so cool
But we would need bigger maps
not necessarily
The point would be tactical airlift, dropping troops, supplies and vehicles directly to the frontline.
You have to fly in at low altitude, and either do parachute airdrops, LAPES, or a short landing at a FARP. All in a relatively dangerous environment.
Strategic airlift, in my opinion, is really kinda lame. That’s the one where you just go from airfield A to airfield B, like an airliner. Any cargo plane in VTOL could always do strategic airlift, but the fun would be in the riskier, and more skillful tactical airlift mission.
wouldn't a platform like the C/E-2D work better? it's a smaller airframe sure but still fills the niche enough whilst being carrier capable, granted there's no IRL AAR capacity but that doesn't mean there cant be some creative license
yeh, i still think a version of this would be mich better. Jet engines and whatnot
surely a smaller jet á la the C390/C-2 Kawasaki would be a little better
and if you want proven AAR, MPA, CAS then theres the C-295 from Airbus but thats a prop and smaller than the C-130 so maybe more within VTOL's scope
I think prop is better
because you get prop torque
which makes the aircraft way more interesting to fly
yeah and that ticks the 'something new'box
also while im C-295 posting
The C295's endurance and military systems make it the perfect platform for medium range maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare missions.
That is all
yeah C-295 is a great example of a carrier-scaled cargo plane with lots of different versions
But i also understand the argument for a full sied C-130
She’s still a big bird, I just think something C-130 scale might be a bit much
Yeah, having such a venerable platform would be cool, with the options for stuff like rapid dragon and what not would be very cool
upside :
- you can carry large stuff, like armored vehicles
- proper iconic AC-130 loadout with 3 different guns
- is actually larger than the F/A-26 (which is already massive)
downside : - not CATOBAR
pretty big downside for a game where all aircraft are CATOBAR
Yeah the 295 wouldn’t be either, baha would have to do some ‘26 style design fuckery
To get something to bring a new, engaging, and meaningful gameplay loop to carriers
But w the efficiency of these aircraft in terms of fuel that maybe wouldn’t need to be a massive pre-requisite
Could prob manage them being land/diminished runway only
295's wingspan will fit on the carrier landing strip. So a C-295 sized plane is totally fine for CATOBAR
True, could prob shorten it to the like C-235 size lmao
Maybe bin the AC-130 requirement
well you get an AC-235
which only fits a single small autocanon
no 105mm
that thing takes up a lot of room, even in the AC-130
Yeah it’s huge
Forgot about that, was trying to figure out the cannon option they presented for the AC-295 they had at Dubai defence expo
Think it’s just a 20-25mm
yeah
30mm M230LF
the apache's gun
But yeah, you might as well take an AV-42 if the firepower is the same
ik the rsn why the cargo aircraft uses props instead of jets, esp turbo props, but in vtolvr idk if itll be implented bc everythings jet propelled
Started working on this again after being MIA for a bit. Stay tuned :)
Recorded this prior to fixing the aiming - you can focus fire on a single target as you'd expect to be able to
THIS is beautiful 🙏
That’s so sick keep up the work it looks fantastic
E-420C
hows the progress on it so far?
Currently doing a detail pass on the whole plane based on lots of discussion with the original concept artist
Lots of cool stuff 😎
nice nice
lmk when ur done, very interesting!
that is quite literally what id like as this thread- a CAS, refuel, AWACS version of that essentially, and ofc the vehicle transport
Vehicle transport is the only thing I'm not confident confirming publicly - lots of factors involved that will decide if it's possible (for me, at least)
sounds good, even if it held a smol boi it still would be dope to be able to do a vehicle drop
parachute drop
https://skfb.ly/pBo8J updated model + default livery
howd this mod go??
I do believe there should be a group aircraft or big aircraft in the game. It would definitely add to the immersion and fights.
believe currently on pause till the new year
Would it bring heavy bombers into the picture
And then tactical nuclear bombs of different yields would be a good idea
The idea is to have 1 heavy airframe with module capabilities- the same airframe, like the C130 can convert to an AC130, firefighter, troop transport/vehicle transport IRL. In the game, an AWACS version, tanker, attacker(like ac130), troop/vehicle transport, and bombers were discussed
i was thinking to have 2/4 outter pylons like the AC130 has as well. could be used for fuel or the basic med/high band jammers too
tho this guy already seemed to have gotten an AC130 styled aircraft to work
tho it would be cool to see if it could be a CATOBAR aircraft which tbh i think could be
there's already naval capable aircraft (obviously) and even in IRL C130's were capable of landing and taking off from aircraft carriers
to make one a rough size of the E2 would be awesome for both troop/transport, an attacker, + tanker/AWACS version
they could technically, but it was never actually used with combat loads (and is very impractical as it takes up the entire deck)
that i know as well LMAO
ballsy pilot, but still was accomplished
tho i do not expect an ACTUAL sized C130 to be catobar
a rough size of an E2 should work for troop and ground transport
even if it cant fit tank but something like a vehicle transport so we can RP Para jumpers and vehicles and watching it parachute down into near enemy territory
yeah, just lacking the "heavy" bit from this suggestion
I mean... I do believe the E2 is a heavy vehicle
it's MTOW is the weight of the 26😅
dang
well, something along the lines of an E2, after all VTOLVR is somewhat futuristic
1 sec
grumman S2 tracker airframe is the E2
yeah it's just that getting something carrier capable, and that can carry more than the 26 weapon wise, isn't gonna be a turboprop
well jets have gone thru vast improvements, and tbh, the 26 isnt even to real standard
it is veryyy large
I'm talking maybe, maybe 1/3 bigger than an av42c cargo bay wise enough for it to be capable of carrying ground vehicles + troop transport
once thats capable of being accomplished (i think would be the hardest part) the tanker and awacs variants should be relatively easy to follow
then an attacker variant like an AC130
i mean realistically we could also make the ground transport non CATOBAR while every other variant has the tailhook...
that'll make it the first aircraft to be non catobar...
thinking about it now i think the ground/troop transport should j be one module with foldable seats kinda like a c130. if a vehicle is loaded, can only hold 4 troops, if not, then like 30 troops. that'll be the first variant/aircraft non catobar
- bomber
- awacs
- tanker
- attacker
- logistic (ground/troop; non catobar)
it's kinda like that kinda not
but yeh a bomber module would be nice too
tho just a single bomber aircraft j doesnt seem to be as useful as a multi module airframe capable of adapting to mission needs
Forced teamwork, I think there’s a time and place for it in the game
you can check out a game "angel of death" on vr, its an open beta i think yet, its well made and pretty similar to vtol vr, but an ac-130 gunship would be badass in vtolvr
last time i checked it was not on sale iirc
I heard this game stopped progressing tho i havent checked on it ina while
same i heard it stopped development
@forest marten Could you confirm if angel of death is still in development or not?
It is! Just on the back burner for now, we’re working on a “tide me over” game called Thunderhawk: dangerclose
same
Maybe even a c-5 galaxy? Ik they are huge but they would be great for troop\invasion missions.
Imagine your mission is to drop a couple seals deep into enemy territory, that would be epic
"Couple seals" uses c-5😭
That's a sea lion how could you mix them up
(Says the guy that was not a seal before being not a duck)
In ny defense i typed “seal” that was the first thing that popped up
Rapid Dragon would go extremely hard
Heeellll yeaahhh
That’s 100% what I’d like to see in the future with troop/vehicle transport modules
i think even three pilots, one in the back with his own electronics/misc setup would be awsome
Yeah. Ngl sometimes I just like formation flying and being a coordinator. It would be pretty dope to have a large aircraft giving “real time updates” like an AWACS or something giving updates on the nav map. Or if that aircraft is in the same squadron as others, maybe has a new ability to “draw” / write objectives or something idk
Anyone ever played Onward or Arma 3 knows they can draw on a map. Would be pretty cool if they could update nav maps with highlighters or something, giving key “routes” to navigate through and providing early warning predictions of other units
the things that player could subject others to...
I WILL pay $60 to fly a C130 type plane in vtol vr
just chekin c130 not ac130 right
Both
fr. idk how people ONLY enjoy missile spamming. its a whole new way of enjoying VTOLVR with friends, mission game play, and planning. that and you'd be a HUGE support asset to your team
Its subjective. Some players just won't see enjoyment in logistics, and vice versa
I was digging through some old media for a concept I made a while ago. I think this thing would still be too large to be remotely viable in combat, but it could serve the role as a 'commander' of sorts
I found it in my files last night. I don't have the patience to learn modding but something like this with swappable mission modules (like the Boxer APC) might have merit?
I might continue with the mesh for my own projects and as a concept
I mean like having a deployable ground team you could guide from a awacs style areal surveillance platform could be fun you have a 3 man vehicle 1 pilot 1 ewo and 1 ground combat commander
I think you could easily do it solo
You could do anything solo but doing it with others is also fun
The more I think about this the more I'm down for a logistics/AEWC/gunship heavy.
I think something like this would massively expand the scope of the game. Dog fighters have their own game now, but having an expanded roster of aircraft types couple empower campaign builders.
Looking through the other threads on this, I agree it's not sexy but I do think there would be plenty who would want to play as a heavy pilot. I think a sticking point might be giving the co-pilot enough to do, but you could have the co pilot run defensive systems/jammers/radar like in the EF.
You could even have a similar switch for control, as with the T55
there are def players in nuclear option there are plenty of people that love fly the tarantula with cargo only loadouts (its a vtol cargo plane that can carry weapons and cargo)
I would love to myself. I could, of course, on MSFS but there's no point to that, especially in single player. I could, I suppose, do it on DCS but I have issues with DCS that I don't have with VTOL (especially VR), plus there's a universe of possibilities for milsimming with VTOL
