#T-55 Buff
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Nah, it's strong enough already and 120s would look silly on the wingtip
how would they look silly on the wingtip
they look pretty silly on the 45A wingtip imo
I agree.
But the 55 is even smaller, with smaller wings
Aren't the wingtips of the 55 similar to the wingtips of the 45A
I modified Baha's Original T-55 model. Scaled it up about ~10%, Added ACTUAL 150 gallon (570L) fuel tanks based on the F-5E's Drop tanks, and it is SHOCKINGLY close to the F-2A in size.
Moved the CMS pods back on the belly to clear the drop tank.
The first three are the FA-55.
The second three are the FA-55 on the bottom, compared with the F-2A "Viper Zero" from the JASDF. The wing area of the F-2A is pretty large yet compared to the FA-55.
do a cockpit remake 🥺 /j
I shoved the F/A-18F Block III cockpit into it from the Ace Combat 7 model
Lol?
(is that the two seat or single sea-)
Two
epic
(The middle screen should be a touch screen imo to teach people the F45 and EF24 gameplay)
I half agree with this. I mostly would just like some extra engine power, and some offtopic weapon additions for the T-55. Not much else.
stopp he's perfect, i get the 26 even tho i don't agree but my my 55 my poor baby 55
you see i just don't know i don't think it being slow is a fault of its engine, looking at its twr it seems to put out enough thrust i think its either somehow incredibly draggy compared to the f-16 or artificially capped at slow speed
I'm also not suggesting the T-55 get replaced by the FA-55. Rather, it acts as a supplement to an existing design for more light fighter antics with 2 seats.
It might be the latter, given its trainer status.
id like a ton of new planes as well but it'd prob be better to get something a little more different instead of a slightly more capable 55
actually would be dope if it simulated being able to be over sped, i mean honestly at liek mach 1.2 the wings do wobble a good bit i could see how it couldn't handle mach 2 structurally
Get up to 70,000 feet and dive for the deck with G-limit off. Then the wings will tell ya haha
bold of you to assume the 55 can easily get up there
It can
im sure it can get up there no easily tho
Give the T-55 some justice please
idk man t-55 is a damn capable light fighter its just slow and has a weak radar
probably because its designed as a trainer not a war machine
i think it’s quite close in performance to an F/A-18D, albeit with worse power
but even then i’ve seen Tyros supercruise
💀
It’s the most realistic plane in terms of performance, iirc it’s similar to the f16
def doesn’t handle like one tho
the thing is it doesn't have bad power, it has good twr it can climb at 90 knots in a dogfight it just almost artificially feels like it is slow
very weird baha shenanigans going on i feel like
maybe a more 24 feel to the engine might be nice, "poor" mil power but a big kick in AB
but i don’t know
I think its unique and i don't think that should chnage
also wingtip 120's are always ugly
Not always, the F-16 does them really really well. I wanna see the pylons shake around more due to the weight than the 9s on the Tyro do
More wobbly wings! More flex! More vortices!
im sorry but 120's are put on the f-16's wings to reduce wobble
i really feel the lack of self defense amraam when i fly the 55
the F-18D has the fuselage pylons
the F-16D has wingtip amraam
T-55 only 2 aim-9
feels limited
doesn't every f18 have fuselage hardpoints?
but i guess it’s not a light fighte
Add another underwing pylon for AAMs only
and f16c
Single racks
yes, but 2 seater.. yes
The 16C has the TGP and HTS pylons
it has wingtip amraams
I still wish we could mount the TGP to the center* belly pylons on the 55/26
i mentioned the 2 seaters because they’re more in line with the 55. but it’s true for the single seater ofc
Best part of this suggestion is the third lighter wing hardpoint, thatd be perfect increase its capacity and i know it would fit cause the 55 has a wider wingspan then the f-16
I feel like you would be very disappointed in its performance outside of straight speed, same 2 circle performance worse 1 circle performance worse twr
imagine if the trainer in VTOL was an (A)T-6
i swear yall should make simpler suggestions cause like i agree with a third hardpoint but like not with the other things
why would it have a worse twr? I'm not proposing to make it 1:1 f16 performance
it says "slightly increase the engine power"
well i was responding to a message of you jokingly saying add f-16
not to the main suggestion
haha
buffing the 55 makes it more of a light fighter, can still be used as a trainer just as well.
But it means it’s no longer the "weaker more difficult" plane anymore
T-55 on top, FA-55 in center, F-2A on bottom. The wingspan is close, but still narrower
I mean the 55 is already firmly a light fighter imo, it can already carry what like 8 amraams like same amount that the eagle used to
It still needs the wingtip rails for 120s though, but look how good it looks...
no 6 is right mb
Keep maximum 120 capacity 6, just move to wingtip 120s and make the inner wing pylon a single
EZ
it definitely doesn’t have the payload capacity or wet TWR or a legacy hornet or viper. maybe it closer to an A-4 or something ?
i don’t know who flies the 55 for A2A anyways
I do sometimes in pubs, but I carry Sparrows because better looking
i love how close you are to the missiles in the 55
i wish we had some better sounds
the missile sounds are better when the doors are opened in 94/42
upsized ?
loyal wingmen aim9
Smaller tanks
lil bro thinks he’s an F-16XL
I don’t know if I should be ashamed or disgusted
Yes
I agree with the more power
Would love an F16 inspired plane with more power, doubt it will happen. The 55 is like the 26 but with a good cockpit, just missing some power.
I know it's supposed to be a trainer, but man.. I would love a smaller jet with some power to it
Then you’ll love my FA-55 design
have seen it, big fan
For a trainer jet the T-55 is very fine. It's not meant to be used in war, so the buff is very unneeded. If anything, a new jet should be added to support the formfactor the T-55 has but be a war machine, rather than a direct buff to the T-55!
It's a lead-in fighter trainer. It can do everything the 26 can do but much worse
The thing is, the T-55 feels more like a fighter jet than the F/A just because of the cockpit layout, hence why so many people want F/A redesigns
Would be nice to either have a T-55 which is more competative, or a F/A which feels more like the more recent cockpits
Why not both?
Or also a third new fighter jet that is both competative and an actual dedicated fighter
(Please give delta wing light fighter with thrust vectoring)
Both are good too, but this is the fundamental issue that people have
Because it's two thingies that give you a different flight experience, and that is a thing people want
That is, a substantially different flight model
Each one has separate gameplay elements, make two more different aircraft
But that's also fair, I don't disagree
I just want a light fighter
Me too, which is why I redesigned the F/A-26
The F/A-26 has so many god damn missiles though
My redesign deletes the four belly pylons, replacing them with side intake AAM pylons only
It's already a missile truck, it kinda doesn't need to be a light fighter as well
Hence why it would be a new aircraft
Sure but like, why redisign an old aircraft that fills a role as opposed to a new aicraft that fills a new role
Fair enough
My 26B redesign would fit the "I want a more capable 55, or I want a less capable 26 with less weapons"
Same with the FA-55
people want it
I do too
That's fair, but I don't think it's helpful to frame that as a redesign of the FA-26
I also wonder if a light fighter would also help fix "viffing" simply by adding a fighter that would beat the 45 in a turnfight
I would love to see that
Something with an insane sustained turn rate
but high thrust
Without changing viffing at all, just by changing the dynamic from 45 beats 26 to ?? beats 45 which beats 26
afaik the 45 doesn't actually outrate you, it kinda just sits inside your turn circle
while viffing*
Yeah, it's more of an insane instantaneous turn rate than a strong sustained turn rate
correct
but this is also correct
I dont think the 55 needs a buff because its supposed to be a trainer, I'm just biased because I really dont want to fly the 26 anymore after being in the cockpit of the 55..
if I'm training someone on every weapon type, a third underwing hardpoint would help with this
2 more possible weapon types
I'm quite the opposite. I'm so used to the 26B and it's capabilities / size, I don't like to fly anything but it
God, a third underwing pylon for the 55 and 42 would go hard
idk, I havent been in that position, but I think you could just land and rearm
I put those in my redesigns
Honestly, I'd rather a stronger radar and less of the weird speed limit thingy
oh I mean, I want to fly the 26, but it's just so big
More missiles are nice but it's not the vibe I like
I know. That's why I downscaled it by 15%
the cockpit of the 55 is way smaller, MFDs and buttons are also smaller, makes a big difference
thats whats attracting me
honestly I think the 26B could benefit from an MFD remodel
Real. Just by slapping the F-15C cockpit into the 26 model feels so much better.
HUD is way better aligned for me
I wish I could pull more Gs, have more power, be more maneuverable, etc... but that cockpit is so nice. The 26's cockpit is like a living room, I could do yoga in there if I wanted to
the 42C looks a million times better and all baha did was reduce the size of the HUD frame and put cooler MFDs in it
I think if the 26B got the option of either slim HUD like the F/A-18C or F-16, or the wide angle one like the F-15E would look sick
Look at the size difference. But that's a bit off topic of the 55.
yeah
is the fa55 single engine?
Yeah
Oh
Just scaled up 10%. Close to F-2 size
Oh for sure not
26 should be downscaled, improved cockpit and stay double engine
A supplement to fill out the "tech tree" so to speak
makes sense
With Wingtip AMRAAMs
man... mod support would make this game sooooo much better
There is the modloader in Steam now
one touch downloading. and it's a separate launcher from vanilla
does it work with latest updates? and does it include the mods I've seen on sites like the A10, and does it replace in game aircraft?
Most of the aircraft mods still need ported over
AFAIK, the Gripen is the only one on there.
where do I go on steam to see the mod page?
thx
has to be doenloaded on the same drive as vtol to work
what do guys think of weight limits, a fully loaded T-55 doesn't seem to want to take off
would another 2 pylons make it worse
Krill issue
since people love filling every pylon with maximum shit
Have you tried flaps?
Rookie numbers
Unless you're trying to go VTOL mode
I'll tell you one thing... The drop tanks are too gotdamn big for he plane
i've seen 0.54 or so
Three drop tanks and self defense AAMs is stupid low TWR
you can get that thing heavy
Each drop tank is 450 gallons like what
They should be closer to 300 or less
thing sips fuel
I should be able to mount AIM-54s on the tyro for absolute minimum TWR
It does, unless you want it to go over M 1.0 then you need constant afterburner
Yeah, but at that point stay at MIL and keep your maneuverability.
I almost always bring a belly tank and drop it before combat
Even then, most situations you won't even use all 1700L before you engage
Take the 870L tank from the heli (which even with full fuel you can fly forever, and 870 is the internal capacity of the heli anyways) and give it to the 55. Take the 1700L tank and give it to the 26B and 45
Problem, solved
Remove the 4200 tank
Increase the CFT capacity by 20% to better fit its size
Toast no longer has fuel
4200L is 1,110 GALLONS. Nobody needs that much in a single drop tank. You may as well save a pylon and bring CFTs
i've seen clean tyro supercruise
That's if you're clean
If you're actually in combat you will want to fly low for cover and carry weapons
yes thank god
And you want to go M1 for extra range
i'm guessing there isn't crazy transonic drag simulated in VTOL
Crazy amount? Not per se, but yes. On the 26 with any loadout, without sustained MIL power, near transonic speeds there is a drag penalty. In fact, it should be able to go frickin fast. Each one of its engines are 50% larger diameter than the F-15/16s F-110 engines
They're larger than the 24's engines in diameter as well
With how big the 26 is, there's for sure simulated added drag
The 24 is slightly more aerodynamic with the wings swept back
i leaned the other day that F-111G (aka FB-111) with the better engines could have gone beyond mach 3 but the airframe would have suffered from the heat
but it's wild to me that a design meant for low altitude nuke delivery and short field operation could ever reach mach 3
Hell, the upgraded F-4X could theoretically reach Mach 3, but it was deemed that even allies of the US couldn't have a plane that could compete with the then still flying SR-71
(and possibly shoot it down)
And the U-2
introducing the B-58's fuselage sized external tanks lol
Bruh
If we got a playable bomber, I'd vote for 4200L tanks for it, or larger
You know, I could see a new gameplay element / aircraft in a flying wing. Either small, like the A-12 concept, or large like the B-21/B-2
how so ?
weird handling ?
yeah, modern probably feel quite normal thx to fbw
but i wonder how the old ones flew
in the 40s
Well, see those have little baby rudders
notice the alien prints on the desert floor
FBW makes that irrelevant
I'd love a flying wing in VTOL
but that's not T-55 related lmao
they have spoilers/speed brakes on either side to help with yaw
similar to F-14 spoilers affecting roll
