theory which is being ready
Still don't get you
yea im bad at explaining
Just ran to play the reincarnation room 😂
Is it true that in the nine-part series, all kinds of little blacks have evolved in this way?
Put on different offerings to turn into fish, birds, earthworms and black 🤔
Samsara Room is William's perception of the afterlife
It either happens on another plain of the reality or doesn't happen at all
So is true for everyone else
And it's impossible to tell
You were meant to play Roots before SR
I absolutely fell in love with the plot of Xiuhu
What is the story of Baimen?
Still nothing to do with the plot 🤔
A firendly advice
I currently play the nine parts first, then take root and then reincarnate
Don't put the names into translator
I'm glad you get me
The White Door tells the story of the blonde dead woman's boyfriend
^
Also, use this translator, it's better than google translation
I'm surprised
Lmao why
Did you already know about it or just reserched?
I know about it
I'm learning Chinese as a hobby
I took a course once in uni but it was too short
They taught us 10 words and dipped 💀
shhhh....Damy is watching
That explains everything. Thx. Yeah, Let's cut it off
No problem 👍
Playing the white door is really exciting... Mr. Owl, the blackened Bob and the scenes in the theater
haha ye! you got any theories about em?
or at least any question
a theory question, is bob the deer-successor
If one person is to be the next deer guy, thats dale
Bob will just continue to be bob
i thought dale was owl now
in white door, he is deer, but we dont know completly yet (at least just me)
Dale was depicted as deer in Paradox 1st time
I'm going to say that if anyone wants me to research anything related to the RL series (Like animal species or similar scientific devices to what is shown in the games), I love doing that stuff.
especially if it leads to theory fodder.
a good topic to research is neurology
Is there anything you're trying to find in particular?
y'know the memories are shown realistically when they are part of the brain
???
even Hoorn speaks of brain electricity and neuroimaging
Who was Hoorn again?
Oh yeah... I still need to play that.
I know there are different types of memory
I'd like to know which ones would fit into cubes
I know I watched someone's playthrough a while ago, but you catch different stuff when you play a game for yourself
I know that Hotel has an interesting diagram in Miss Pidgeon's room.
she is the first person who studies both cubes I believe
I dont think Caroline mentioned anything about white cube
Should I start with Hotel or Paradise? (I mention those two as those are the games I currently have on this computer)
since it seems both have some leads I can follow.
I guess I misunderstood you
I was speaking of the topic outside RL
some real science
and how it could be reflected in the games
I will go to some real life stuff.
I just want to start with the games for a refresher.
ok, Start with The Mill then
Also miss Pigeon has some cool devices I wanna find real life equivalents from.
Hotel and Paradise will also do, I guess
I don't have the collection downloaded here atm.
an electric chair
I could start up the old computer, but I'm lazy.
You know, I was thinking that, but was hesitant since the bird doesn't die.
downloading The Mill on android wouldn't take long
it depends on the current
electricity kills when you overdo
As someone who got their finger between a charger and the socket, I understand.
u need more water to kill someone when electrocute
u need more dirty water*
I'm not talking about Miss Pigeon.
also I'm upset since when I loaded Hotel it started me at the forest and now I have to play the game over cause my perfectionist butt won't let me sacrifice stars over research.
0_o
wha
no I think that;s fair.
besides id argue, theorising wise, you'd get the most content out of a perfect clear, wouldn;'t you
do they have a room selection menu
if only
I guess so
aye but there;s no convenient like hey go here now menu like TWD has, for example
I did it last time for achievement hunting. So when I left the game I was finally handing the deer to mr. Owl for the second time in a row because I failed to stab that darn butterfly.
indeed
that makes the achievement hunting so much easier
Yeah... you have to wait for night and remember what door they are at.
At least this time it says I still have all 3 star dinners.
Do I just say "screw it" and go straight for Miss Pidgeon's door?
Since she has the stuff I'm looking for.
Might as well! Since it's mostly for research
Actually, I might go to Mr. Deer first, since he also has some strange stuff.
I mean why would u want all ingredient
just for cigar?
I'm a perfectionist.
BRUH
There is a "right" and "wrong" way to go through the doors of hotel, and I don't like doing things the "wrong" way.
Anyways, looking at Mr. Deer's room... seems like the lake might be deeper than it should be?
If he was looking for a way down, then it might mean that it is an unusual depth. Or at least, I doubt you can see the bottom.
(Yes, I know I could've screenshotted it)
f12
But his plan says "Hotel height?"
"What is in the lake?" "Is there a way down?" And "water samples"
(I know how to take a screenshot)
The Rs and Ps look a bit weird, but it seems to be decent cursive.
also my cursive s looks a lot like his
If anyone is curious, the one I didn't mention said "walls"
I guess, to put it simply, "takes one to know one."
Okay, looking at Ms. Pigeon's room... she seems to be trying to use electricity to extract cubes?
Given her drawings, it seems like it was specifically black cubes.
screenshots plz
See how the lines match up in both drawings.
And yeah, looks like her plan was to kill the little bird. But I keep feeling like the device is modeled after the elevator.
But it is really just because of the two poles at the top. Those might be for extracting the cubes in her case.
I would say rather than kill the bird, she wants to torture and possibly cause a corruption or she probably has no idea how to make happy memory so goes for painful ones first
well, Xs in anyone's eyes typically stands for death.
idk
or that they don't have that eye, but still.
Possibly. I don't want to sound like the expert in emotions/faces.
both cubes
One cube doesn't have the lines, implying it is a white cube.
yeah, that's what I'm saying
to this.
But the drawing with only one cube is shaded & shows the electricity.
Don't tell me that the helmet giving both cubes has nothing to do with electricity
btw
soooooooon
I'm not saying that.
At least, not intentionally.
I'm interpreting it as her studies being geared more towards black cubes than white ones.
I don't see it like that
one diagram tells that electricity makes the cubes come out (like in general)
and the other shows both cubes
Ohhhh. That makes more sense.
looking for TPW Chinese partner
wrong channel
yeah, i just noticed that, sorry
Have u played the mill
Is it from the cube coll
yes
No
I see
Actually i played the 2st one but graphics r shit
Oh I see
Just the graphics
they are all memories
But
White ones are considered to be good memories of the past
Nvm that gonna sound racist af
and black ones are the painful and depressed ones
Give lore
about?
ah see
u gotta play CEC
twd is just a dlc for CEC jk
Wut
u gotta play collection
Lore of other games makes a lot less sense vithout CEC
CEC is the context
And everything else deepens it
its not long comparing to paradise or roots
I would debate that
but its ur personal opinion
Grafics are actually nice since Birthday
Not bad since Harvey's box
agree
bruh
Atmosphere is great in Case 23 and oitstanding in The Mill
all of them are important tbh but I put Arles and Harvey's box least important ones
The Lake isn't that important
Paradox is a very late game
Ye ik
It's like the direct sequel to CEC
indeed
I feel like u basically play the entire series in a reverse order
but suit urself
I am impressed
but as long as u enjoy it, order doesnt matter
I play birthday and theatre first
then seasons
I mean ive watched many lore vids
well u got much complex lores here
if u play CEC we can discuss more
Hotel deepens mysterious characters introduced in The Mill and foreshadows Dale's journey from Birthday and Theater.
Roots gives more idea about the elixir and why the hell Laura is important.
Paradise is about parallels between Dale and his predecessor
Best 3 games
indeed
who
What's better, Paradise or TWD?
I'd lime to know your reasoning in #🩸|general-chat
i just finished paradox
im kinda confused abt the end
also i want lore that wasnt told in the game
what exactly is your point of confusion?
technically yes
depends on the depth we review
all
ok, now I can answer it
Paradox isn't real
it may reflect the reality in some aspects
but basically it's Dale's dream
or coma
but with a purpose
have you got secret endings?
no?
when you get both secret achievements, you'll have all the pieces
however putting them together seems quite a challenge
im way too lazy to get them all
then just enter the codes
yeah, achievements give you safe combinations
did you ever come out with the lore explanations on your own?
no :)
what's about that?
black moths are wide-spread across the series
since Seasons
I think they are about symbolism
the moths in general are connected to rebirth
and also aspire to the light
like Dale aspires enLIGHTenment
black moths in particular are a bad omen and symbolize death
I mean he didnt even play CEC
he wont understand the mind of past present and future thing
not really
you can mostly understand the former on its own
and the latter with Roots and Paradise
involves but doesn't necessarily rely on
bruh
Technically also paradise with Mr. Owl.
without even fighting it
he did play paradise
I might be out of the loop.
he plays the game in backwards order
the golden cube, I admit, would be confusing with no Cave
but it's not on the surface
it's veeeery deep
Who?
Also, I played it out of order. Paradox was my first.
you just need to read some messages before Stray appeared
I did. I'm trying to figure out how you can say something refers to something but doesn't rely on it...
When the whole series references eachother. The timeline of connections isn't a line: it's a web.
Every game (that I've played) from RL, give or take seasons, references each other.
what connection does paradox have w twd
I haven't played TWD.
But from everything I've heard, people say the main character of TWD is in Case 23 and Theater.
And if it is that guy, he was in a relationship with Laura.
both tease Dale the deer
nothing else specific besides the characters
I mean, that headless deer thing is in at least 3 games....
unless you are implying that Dale is a reincarnation of Mr. Owl's dad.
I think he is referring to Asura Dale or deva Dale
ive noticed that
Because this series loves reincarnation.
nah, that's stupid
I'm speaking of Dale having a deer head on him
the reincarnation of Albert is more reliable than this
plausible*
w8 did dale killl the deer in paradox
the corrupted one, yes
funny thing, Albert died a few years before Dale was born
so I guess reincarnation is possible as Dale
we will see in one month
that is if no further delays poke up their heads
pls dont even mention that possibility
btw how long do u think tpw will be
the length of paradox?
2022 a new 2019
I understand delays suck but it really cant b helped
shorter
switching to unity must b tricky and to start off with a co-op game to boot.
they have help
if any rl developer reads this pls dont make coop games
?
the guy is against experiments
tbh its not really coop game, its just a game with two perspective so I guess it would be easier to think
that much is confirmed, i'm afraid. @rugged silo
ah al right, I thought you were unaware.
either way that's not really stuff to talk about in #theori..
#🤔|theories * .
sus
wasn't it too soon?
Nah.,
they joined less than 5 minutes ago and immediately start spamming together
this was intended trolling.
Damy fast. I didn't even see anything
well the bot does auto delete upon banishment!
Oh XD that makes sense
and were i to be wrong they are free to just reach out to me asking for an unban.
I've just found that with these sorts of trolls specifically muting them beforehand really just doesn't have any effect
either way! the way I moderate isn't a theory is it
Oh yeah, I've had similar issues in servers I've modded before. Thanks for sharing though!
the bot is working well I see
it is lovely
So, according to paradise and hotel, black cubes can work as the core of CS. And in seasons, Laura has winter memory which states the possibility of CS generate new memories. However, does that mean we can extract memory from black cubes infinitely.
this doesnt seem right to me
one of the statement must be wrong
either CS cant produce memory or black cubes arent CS themselves
I think the second one is right
Imo the scene at the end of hotel is more of "extracting black cubes from CSs"
Or just a metaphor to show you whose cube it is
then how the CSs are trapped in the container and able to break out in the future
if they dont exist in the first place
Good point
why the 1st is according to paradise?
Caroline is wondering around in CS and we have seen her blackcubes everywhere so I assume its the same mechanism
but yea
u can delete that part
its just my assumption
then I don't think that CS are only cubes
it shouldnt
but whats going on in hotel
some dark owl magic
cubes may be their important part but I expect the rest being more important even if not always visible
What
you can separate a cube from a CS
and you won't seemingly create another CS with a cube
idk
where did this happen
we only extracted from human not cs
cs is usually formed after extraction of black cube
true
emmm yea, Bob just throw his memories
My idea is that CS can exist with no memories
it should
since they are another stage of samsara
and memory is just a part of the creature
ok
then whats going on in hotel
whatever you see there. CS hiding inside the cubes, becoming partly invisible, etc etc
now speaking of an indefinite cube extraction
I think it's possible but it's the question of quality, not quantity
that may also be a reason why there's always a cube inside a CS
it stores there fresh memories
which can be extracted and you can start over
every creature should have fresh memories in them
I mean
when you wake up with amnesia you get new memories right away
but have no older ones
I wonder, if they want fresh memories, why dont they just enslave a human or animal for infinite memory extraction
keep it alive and it keeps producing memories
it depends on what you define as fresh
nah, it wasn't about it
bruh
"bring back colors to your life" was the phrase
Yes
nothing about colorful memories
not about memories but rather about emotions
yes
therefore, nothing to do with the "memory diversity"
it's about the present, not the past
ah shit here we go again
how do we define present in terms of lake
fresh
10 days, 10 months, 10 years?
freshly formed, freshly extracted, or just new to the lake?
and once again, how the hell fresh memories are connected to the colors of one's life?
then why dont they enslave ppl for this
I dunno, diversity
because I think it's about the last part
I think the lake just needs new memories
I also think in sufficient quantity
it seems like they can take the memories back from the lake as if its just a random trash under water
and the content of the cube is still there
what did the lake do with them if it didnt absorb it or something
imo, if the lake wants something, it will consume it or absorb it
in some way
I don't think the devs know themselves
bruh
otherwise, across thousands of year, there would be thousands of cubes under the lake
and how do they know which one is Laura
the scenarist told them
we still have little knowledge about what does the lake do except making deals with sacrifices and has magic power after 7 years
and what's your point?
why are you asking that?
idk
random stuff
lake stuff
can lake be naraka
or in other words
is the lake itself hell
and I wonder if there are asuras on Himalayas
The White Door, I'd imagine
Have you seen the secret PD scene?
It's been a while, but I do vaguely remember seeing police following hin at the very least
if ur talking about the man at the bar
i think he went insane after laura sent him that card that was in his jacket
which is probably why he's in the police station after theatre
i mean
bro
he even broke the damn window and hung the police officer
I think nowhere's question is more what happened between that time. When/how was he arrested, what particular instance caused it?
And technically it was his CS that hung the officer
And it's been almost a year between he shot himself and was arrested
if he survived the shot by turning into CS, and assume the shot happened. I guess he will continue to be more depressed in his apartment just like the day he met Sarah, alcohol and depression. Then, after a year of stressful mental state and under the police's accusation, he broke down and killed him in CS form.
I have raised another question, did Bob forget everything by the time he went to twd
It's implied by the manager
yeaaa
so he didnt forget everything did he
maybe I misunderstood the scene
when he was facing the manager
the manager told him to pick out his stuff
he did right?
why though
because just afterwards comes Sarah and tells Bob that he remembers almost everything and it's time to finish his depression
oh I see
that doesnt make sense
if he just arrived
so the game connected his past to his present
bruh
I dont see the second one, he is empty as f
I mean
no cheers for Bob
then this part will be flawed
if he doesnt remember shit
he wont be depressed and have alcohol issues after theatre
we need a new mini game, the homeless life of Robert Hills
I suppose whether he has past memory or no is depends on theatre
we had this convo before
the black cube from the police station is his memory formed during that year after theatre
ok. How is it connected to the 2-Bobs-Theory?
ok, can you start over with Bob not being depressed?
and we will have this
or
he got detained by the police station
for 1 year
a mistake I see here
why are you so sure he was kept there for a year?
because he is a suspect and police usually wont let a murder suspect going around freely
plus, he doesnt remember shit
its either homeless or suspect
or Owl experiment
1 year of zero wound mark from gun shot in the head is pretty impressive
we had this convo before and we agree it is possible that CS cured his head
yeah, we had, and I think it's too early to discard all those possibilities
also
what I was seeing was Bob arrived, made a mugshot and waited for his 1st interrogation
I mean for a murder suspect, before the investigation result comes out, who would let this guy walk around freely
even the general public wound protest
yes
that's not ok
but it is what it is
how do you know that?
because in my country interrogation of severe crime u gotta wait from 6 months to more than 2 years
depends
during that period, he is sort of imprisoned
- this is stupid if it's true
- it's the US we're talking about
I dunno
another funny thing
I'm very unsure if the devs dug that deep
I'd expect a movie approach from them
e.g. interrogation as soon as possible
AAAAAHHH, dah Dann questio!
Question:
In Birthday, the date is said to be 1939, and Dale is said to be 9 years old.
In Paradox (chapter 2), Dale's birthday is 1930, but the newspaper article about his tragedy says he was actually 11. Is this a retcon or are they hinting that something deeper is going on here?
you have to update your game
Oh did they change the text?
looooooooooooong ago as far as I'm concerned
Ohhh okay.
I was watching some walkthrough videos to try and figure out Dale's age. Probably should've played the material instead.
I'll check when I get home if my game needs to be updated.
The main reason I was doing that is because I'm trying to figure out Mr. Owl's age.
This is my current working theory of the history of the Rusty Lake universe:
Part 1: The Eilanders (Paradise / Hotel)
Mr. Owl's mom is the first to discover the elixir. She is sacrificed by their family in Jakob's place, knowing that he will gain eternal life/enlightenment (unbeknownst to the family, who are trying to get it for themselves). He reincarnates (or utilizes the elixir to continue living) as Mr. Owl, builds Rusty Lake Hotel, and begins working with William and Aldous Vanderboom. Mr. Owl invites his family to the hotel (who are somehow super old at this point or have reincarnated) and has Harvey enact his revenge on them, creating a bunch of corrupted souls and utilizing them to feed the lake/create the elixir again. The souls break out and attack Harvey, who transforms into a parrot, either through some power we're not aware of yet, or through reincarnation.
Part 2: The Vanderbooms (Roots)
Somewhere in all this, William Vanderboom dies, and leaves his estate to his nephew James, who manages to create the elixir, but inadvertently dies because he lets the dog try the elixir first (one must die so that the other can live), hence why the dog makes reappearances long after he should have died. The rest of the Vanderboom family tree are used as pawns by William and Aldous to create sacrifices so that William can come back to life, which he does through the help of Rose (the reincarnation of Mr. Owl's mom).
Part 3: Laura and Robert (Cube Escape Collection / White Door)
William reincarnates as Laura, who is unaware of her past life, and somehow ends up with Harvey as her pet parrot. She breaks up with Robert and goes to Rusty Lake, where she either kills herself OR is murdered by Robert (maybe even Dale somehow?). This was not supposed to happen, and Mr. Owl puts Robert in his mental institution so they can try and figure out what happened to Laura, and to feed his memories to the Lake. Sarah, one of the doctors at the institute, erases Laura from Robert's memories to free him from his pain (and by proxy the Lake?), AND frees all the other patients.
Part 4: Dale (Cube Escape Collection / Paradox)
Dale (the potential reincarnation of Leonard Vanderboom?) is the detective assigned to Laura's case. He discovers he has the ability to travel through time at the discretion of Mr. Owl and Mr. Crow, and he utilizes this to stop Mr. Rabbit/David Eilander from murdering his family (his parents being the reincarnation of Samuel and Ida, and his grandpa being Mr. Crow?). It is hinted that Dale may have hung himself, and with both him and Laura potentially being dead, he gets to choose which of them is the sacrifice, and which is enlightened, that person potentially becoming Mr. Owl's successor, and the caretaker of the Lake.
Have you played all of roots?
Here are just a few of my questions:
- What is the story of Harvey, Mr. Toad, and Mr. Bat (the latter two we know basically nothing about)?
- If Mr. Owl was the one who became enlightened, how is it that his family members have also lived really long lives? Were they reincarnated? If so, how did Mr. Owl know it was them when they were invited to the Hotel?
- Who killed Laura? Was it intentional or were they being controlled by a corrupted soul? Are Dale/Robert somehow different personalities of the same entity?
- Who is Sarah and why did she free the patients at the institute? Is she in love with Robert? Who are the other inmates and why did some of them have cubes?
- What is the significance of feeding people's memories to the lake?
Yeah I have
It's kind of a jumbled mess so shout out to anyone who actually reads all that haha, and feel free to share your thoughts!
I know that someone made a whole series on Youtube of the history of Rusty Lake, but I wanted to share my thoughts from what I've gathered first before watching that
I'll get back to you on #4. Will you be okay if I ping you when I do (since it might be a few hours or days for me to get a good theory).
RazzJazz?
Part 1
How Mr Owl used guests to feed the lake or crate elixir, we didnt see any of those
Part 2
How is Rose the reincarnation of Caroline
That's the one! I'm very curious to watch it
They are transformed into corrupted souls, which seems to happen when someone's memories are fed to the lake
Rose looks just like Caroline and that seems intentional
no, this happens when a black cube got extracted
Rose looks like Ida
so u are saying the reincarnation of someone has to look like the person's previous life?
this doesnt make much sense
It doesn't have to, but seeing as how the overarching story itself is a puzzle, I don't know why they would make them look like the exact same person and not have that be meaningful in some way
Caroline creates the first elixir, and later Rose creates the elixir again to give birth to Laura
Yeah
stray, slow down, let him explain 1st
I may be forgetting some things, it's like 15 games haha
We have a great example of reincarnation
William -> Laura
and Laura looks nothing like William
while resemblance of Rose and Caroline could be explained by many other things crazy or not
starting with them being a family and finishing with a mere artstyle
That is true, but if them looking the same is completely unrelated that wouldn't make sense to me
How
which part doesnt make sense
and what makes u feel Rose is looking like Caroline, I feel she is very Ida
Just going through the trouble of essentially making the same person, and somehow not having them in fact be the same person
Hold on a sec
wdym, it was Albert's own will
if so, why dont u just say all red haired woman is Caroline
I have my theory of a nearby village at Rusty Lake
where Mary and Caroline come from
They do to me
I feel this will get us to nowhere if we are obssessed with this detail
u have to provide much stronger evidence
for the link
of Caroline and Rose
I'm not saying they're not related, but I don't think it's out of the question for the family members to die and then come back into the family to play another role
id say that trying to relate characters just by looks wont do much
and yeah, as stray said, this is going nowhere
I don't know why you're getting so hung up on my personal theory, I'm just looking to discuss is all
thank u
but lets say caroline was reborn as someone else, how does it affect things?
Iirc, (sorry to temporarily derail this), Mr. Owl says "the lake will be grateful", implying that the memories are fed to the lake somehow.
It is totally possible for her to reincarnate into a human again
we disagree, that's normal
It's fine to disagree, it just seems like stray is acting like my suggestion is completely blasphemous which I wasn't expecting, and their language is coming across like I'm dumb for thinking so, which is unnecessary
that is totally possible, but there is another potential reading for this, what if Mr Owl is addressing himself as the lake, u know, all the murder is for the prophecy of Dale
I think that maybe the same people continue to reincarnate and play different roles in the same story
Obviously not all of them, but some, and reincarnation/ enlightenment is a big part of the story
He says "I am really glad you brought the cigars" if you get those for him. He doesn't say "the lake is happy for the cigars".
indeed
maybe I phrased it in a wrong way
I agree. Who are the reincarnations, I do not exactly know.
I mean the lake would be grateful for the prophecy
and we dont see Owl throw the CS containers under the lake
he kept them around him in the hotel
Well the Eilanders are connected to the Hotel somehow with the animal masks, and those animals being in the Hotel game
Well, the containers didn't last long...
And there's like a hundred years between Paradise and Hotel, so either they lived a long time or are reincarnated
I think he didn't get to finish his plan before they broke out of the containers.
objectively, I need to admit they do share their face shape, mouths, eyes and brows. However that doesn't have to mean them being the same person. You really need stretch things up to make a person someone's next incarnation. You need more undebatable precedents.
On the other hand, there are some more plausible alternatives. They can either be related or the artist just got lazy which also happens sometimes.
That is very true, but with how intricate everything is put together i just feel like there's more to it than just happenstance
plz, stray, calm down
Well we only have so much information so a lot of this discussion is straight up "feel"
if u want to fabricate a theory u put stronger evidence and convince others
its as simple as that
Sometimes you do just feel.
The connection is clear to me, but you don't see it that way and that's fine. That's part of the how the games are set up, everyone has their own theories
What i don't appreciate is that I'm just here to discuss amongst fans and it seems like you are being rude to me and treating me like I'm dumb for having these theories. That's not cool
I got a theory right once based off feeling & what would be dramatic/add stakes to the story.
I like your theories.
I did not, I pointed out the flaws and hope u can explain it
we theorists love going crazy. Every single one of us does so at some point. But the reality doesn't care about our feelings and if we want to really predict something we need keep ourselves to the ground, consider the possibility of us being wrong and not to put all the eggs into the same basket.
I often experience objection from nowhere
But yeah, you two do treat theories as if there is only one right one. Even though the right answer will only show itself when it is time.
me?
the thing is, there isnt much possibilities unless there are new evidence
and we do have some possibilities, there isnt only one
I agree with this however we only have so much information so until we get more info a lot of inferences have to be made.
I have had several ideas shot down because it didn't go along with the accepted fanon.
like the CEC series is not certain and contains many possibilities
Then why have so many of mine been dismissed?
but for roots and most of the paradise, it is quite straightforward
where
pardon me
if I ignored ur theory
I apologize
I'm not talking about them being ignored.
Yeah it may not be intentional but it definitely feels like I'm being talked down to and that's not really what I'm here for. May just be a miscommunication issue
I have no problem being wrong and discussing, the tone is what's throwing me off
I'm saying I've had several denied. I feel like I need to keep several of my ideas to myself.
Agreed.
I mean part of the fun is having an idea and then finding out you're right or wrong in a later game
just feel like i should mention we do strive to create a welcoming environment here
I apologize
and all theories are welcome and should be on equal footing to b discussed.
for having a unfriendly tone
So, for #2, I've been on the train of them being reincarnations. Especially since mr. Rabbit from Birthday seems to be a reincarnation of either Hotel's rabbit, Paradise's rabbit, or both (since I think the three all share a lineage).
I agree!
It would also tie Mr. Rabbit into that fate he so desperately needs to avoid, especially if this fate is tied to the sins of his family (which I think he mentions?).
Do they keep coming back until they can right their wrongs?
I do not know.
That is a cool idea.
Or grandpa kills but through Dale's actions
I was thinking that it was just something everyone did, but your idea is cooler from a story perspective.
Yeah he apologizes for doing it and mentions he has to in order to escape or something
Which I think he's trying to escape a fate as a corrupted soul. Idk why, but it just feels like it.
How omniscient are Mr. Owl and Mr. Crow? The owl represents knowledge obviously, but how far does it go?
Yeah I can see that
Which is partly why I feel like Dale is somebow tied to Mr. Owl's father.
possible
I think Albert is tied to Mr Owl's dad actually
My guess? Some sort of prophecy.
I think Dale could be Leonard because both of them have parents that are murdered
It's a loose theory but one I've considered
mhm but wouldn't leonard still b around when dale was born?
Good question
Which game is Leonard from?
roots
I don't have the timelines down
Dale was born in 18.12.1930, Leonard was confirmed to be alive until 1935
Leonard is the child of Samuel, who is twins with Emma and Albert
Ah ok
Something to keep in mind though is Mary seems to be killed by Albert at the same time as Samuel and Ida, but her gravestone says she died like 30 years prior.
That part i don't get
Believe me, it's sensible trying finding evidence no matter how brave your assumption is. The info isn't that scarce. You can find many unexpected things. A good example, one guy from Reddit was able to prove Vanderbooms and Eilanders being related based on Lady's substance of the past life. And that's a great theory, especially considering me who hates when people are secretly related.
Another thing is, the evidence in this fictional universe is based on interpretation you can simply bend facts to fit your picture.
Feelings, on the other hand, are the last thing you need to rely on. They deceive you the most. And if you really struggle to put the evidence together, sometimes it's better to drop the idea, transform it or keep for the future (in case new evidence arrives) cause otherwise it's not a theory but rather a fanfic.
So some of the timelines are definitely off
the gravestone is always something I got confused
Id be curious to read in to the theory you've mentioned @azure bay
ping me tomorrow if no one else can recite it
Mr Owl being related to the alchemists isn't inferred as far as I know but would make sense
Will do
So Albert kills Leonard's parents and then Mr Rabbit kills Dale's parents. If Albert is the deer, who is Mr. Owl's dad, and Mr Rabbit is Mr. Owl's brother, will we see similar acts committed by his sister, uncle, and grandma?
I doubled check again, the grave stone is correct
she died in 1904
Ah ok cool, I think I got her and Emma mixed up
np
Yes but he uses the deer skull, and Mr Owl's dad wears the deer mask
So even if they're not related, they serve a similar function in their stories
and Dale wears the deer head
anyways, I lost the thread
Dang there's so much to discuss but I'm supposed to be working so I'll hop on again later haha
what were you discussing?
I think reincarnation of the family members
which theory
I can find it now
I guess, it's too late for today
alright
but thx
You can post it and I'll look at it later
I'm toying with the idea that the deer represents that person having magical properties, which doesn't make sense in regards to Mr Deer but oh well
interesting, so Mr Owl does use the bodyparts
pheasant in chapel
recylcle
I wouldn't take the chapel too seriously tho
aw
Oop sorry for hopping in but I just read that you're talking abojt Mr Deer. Idk if it had been pointed out already, but i remember noticing that the first guy from Roots (James if I recall correctly) in the basement level wears what Mr Deer wears in Hotel
- James wore them before the massacre of Hotel
- So did William
I bet on the asset reuse and James inheriting William's cloths
fair
Mr. Deer's room was very sciency related, which I can see applying to both Arthur and Mr. Owl's dad (forgot his name).
Who's Arthur?
Did I say the wrong name?
I guess
Albert. I meant Albert. My bad.
don't worry
I get your idea
but I would argue
Nicolas was about leading the cult
he has nothing to do with chemistry or alchemy
which is btw the difference between Deer and Albert
Deer was a scientist
Albert was occultist
chemistry is science
alchemy is a form of occultism
Who is Nicholas?
Nicolas Eilander
Oh.
That's his name.
Well, I have done a lot of research into alchemy, and it technically is an early form of chemistry.
I call it "religious chemistry".
As a lot of alchemists were doing it in the name of God. Nicholas and the rest of his family seemed to be doing this in the name of the lake.
I repeat, whatever Nicolas did, it wasn't chemistry nor straight alchemy
that's why Mr. Deer is likely Nicolas no more
and what Mr. Deer did was legit science
unlike Albert's experiments
that were likely based on the brothers' research
What about the phonebook in paradox?
what about it?
Where it says "D. Eilander" and when you call it, Mr. Rabbit shows up
Doesn't that indicate that the hotel guests were the reincarnation of the Eilanders?
it does
Why else would the Eilanders wear masks identical to the animals in hotel
So what did you mean by this?
theoretically, the general symbolism behind those animals
that they don't remember their past lives, don't share those experiences, are mostly new personalities
Ah, I got it now
and Rabbit in Birthday knows much more than he did in Hotel
likely was reborn or was on his way to that
so his knowledge about his past life could have the same source
Interesting
What if it's related to not magic specifically but alchemy, which could include "magic"
who exactly are you trying to connect here?
I don't think the chemistry vs alchemy debate is enough to dissprove that.
disprove what?
Mr Deer, Albert, Dale, and Nicholas Eilander
All use some form of alchemy, whether through ritual, actual alchemy, or perceived magic
To quote the definition of alchemy, "the medieval forerunner of chemistry, based on the supposed transformation of matter."
Just an idea
They can't all be the same person which goes against the reincarnation idea BUT there could be a common thread
the one who calls himself a scientist is not likely to embrace some past practices
I'm saying that alchemy TRANSFORMED INTO CHEMISTRY OVER TIME.
Maybe each chapter of the story requires an alchemist to proceed or something
and why is it applicable?
You are saying that because one is supposedly an alchemist and another is supposedly a chemist, they cannot be related.
But the practice of alchemy evolved into chemistry.
Nicolas = Deer is confirmed, Deer can't likely be Albert because they share the timeline. Dale can be Albert, many fans don't want that but we'll see in the upcoming game
Nicholas is clearly the leader of the sacrifice in Paradise, and I think utilizes prayer as a form of magic / alchemy
OH MAN
That was a lot of definitives in a theory channel.
Well with the glimpses we get of Dale possibly killing Laura, that could allure to the connection with Albert, which I definitely dislike haha
When does hotel take place again?
Birthday gives us a date.
and still they are very different in their core. One is based on the scientific method, the other on some stigmatized beliefs
really dont think the differences matter in the context of RL lmao
besides whose to say that in "rls reality" Alchemy isnt just a respected science.
I can see this
I wouldn't be so sure. Comparing William's journal to the one of Deer could be enough to see the difference.
Maybe each reincarnation of the same person is more "enlightened" than the previous
I'm curious why Dale is a Vandermere and not Vanderboom
on the surface it's about glass tubes and mixing stuff, but one relies on the occult and makes no calculations whatsoever and the other tries to measure things and doesn't concern the magic
Where does the mere come from? What is the missing link?
do u know what van der means?
I don't, I'm gonna guess "of the" haha
Ah so it's potentially more symbolic
Dale is definitely tied into the story somehow, I guess we'll see if he truly is just a time traveler or if there is more to his connection to the family
theoretically, it could be both or even none. What I actually think, yeah, it's symbolic; no, there's no need to explain how these last names appeared
to what family?
I'm wondering if he can time travel because he actually killed himself and is just finding resolution in his memories before he passes on, rather than actual time travel, which is why he's connected to Laura, who is also dead, obviously
killed... himself?
Vanderbooms
Yeah there's a silhouette of him hanging himself in Paradox
Could also be a reference to Emma Vanderboom though
well, I figured out what's Dale's importance based on my evidence
What's that
Dale has a spiritual potential. He was exceptionally traumatized and is able overcome that. And with the elixir involved he'll be reborn in a form even higher than the one of Owl
a worthy more efficient successor
I could see that
In Paradox Laura infers he has to make a choice. So either Laura lives or he lives, and the other dies
And the one who lives will probably take over ownership of the Lake
yeah
"One must die so the other can live"
Mr Owl wears Dale's mask in Theater which is interesting
yeah, it's important WHEN he wears that mask
The last play if I'm not mistaken
did u research what each of the plays actually represents?
I know there's like Sanskrit or something, but no I haven't
Ah ok
And I assume it could be similar in the rl world.
Is Dale maybe the next stage of Mr Owl?
That's what I was thinking as well
Maybe when he dies he becomes one with the Lake, hence the fish, kinda like how someone reincarnates until they achieve enlightenment and become one with the universe
I think it will be quite literally
Mr. Crow is a demi-god or demon (depends on the translation). So is Owl, I assume. And Dale was played by Owl during the play about the god form
so Owl's past is human, present is demi-god and future is animal
Interesting
I assumed the literal interpretation as well, but...
I have a tendency to take these things at face value. Deeper connections I make tend to be either gut feeling or pattern analysis at their core.
so Dale becomes a god after drinking the elixir unlike everyone before him. Why? Here comes my spirituality part
another anomaly is James' dog
it didn't get any enlightenment
Also why?
What do animals lack that humans have?
a consciousness
Ah ok, interesting idea
and Dale in Theatre got a higher state of it
his journey (Bday and Theatre) is what puts him apart from the others
Owl didn't get such journey neither did Crow
I wonder how far ahead the devs have thought this through in advance and how much of it is just making choices in the middle of developing a game haha
I think they have some basic plan
Yeah he seems to be able to travel and change events in ways that the others can't
and they add details on a go
Laura seemingly can
I don't know if Laura has directly changed her past though, unlike Dale. She does seem to be omnipresent however
Seasons is a lot like Bday
But that could also be because she's basically William, who's brother is Mr Crow, who is also omnipresent
Oh you're right, when she is a corrupted soul in Samsara's Room she jumps between dimensions
they both enter a memory, relive their live before facing a conflict and finding a blue cube, roll the time back and fix the conflict
That's fair
that's different
Crow isn't that powerful and his power definitely doesn't transfer to William
Crow seems to be more of a henchman i guess
He almost is like a groundskeeper
Hence living in the Mill
And of course extracting memories
I am curious why they extracted Laura/ William's memories if they knew it could risk corrupting her
Crow was meant to do that carefully
and after all that doesn't seem to have ruined their plan that badly
Crow done f'd up
