I’ve removed my name, but could you please take a look at my resume? I’m not sure if I’m ready to apply for industry positions yet, and I’d really appreciate any advice or feedback you might have, especially regarding how to strengthen my portfolio or what kinds of projects you’d recommend to make my application more competitive. Thank you!

Oh, and I just recently started working on the UE5 modification project, so I’m still getting familiar with it and don’t have a clear idea of everything yet.

  • date formats are not consistent (i would get rid of the day as well)
  • did you graduate from uni in may or did you start in may?
  • inconsistent grammar (no spaces after some commas, renderDoc one place but RenderDoc other, 'related course')
  • get rid of the '(ordered by proficiency)'
  • skills at the bottom
  • give numbers for the first two projects
  • don't directly say 'demonstrating understand of engine architecture', rephrase that differently without explicitly telling the reader what they're supposed to think

Hi! I think this is a good start for a resume. I haven't got a lot of experience looking at resumes so take my feedback with a grain of salt. Anyways, here are my thoughts:

I found the long horizontal text to be a bit hard to read. One fix for this might be to split the text into two columns.
You're writing a lot about your technical skills and personal projects. This is important, but many companies find it more important that you're nice and easy to work with. The best way to highlight this is to mention previous jobs or community work you've done (doesn't have to be related to programming).
Also, I feel like some of the more technical stuff belongs in your portfolio more than your resume.

If you want to know more specifically what kind of stuff to put in your resume vs portfolio, you could search for "game developer resume" and check out how other people do it.

Good luck! 🙂
