I have an opportunity to work for part time, the pay is like enough for me to have fun with friends every week lol, go out and drink/eat.
My plan if I take a part time job (2 days a week), is to use the rest of the days to do graphics projects and work towards building a portfolio for my masters.
I could also look for fulltime jobs. The pay will be greater.
In both the cases, the jobs won't interest me though.

Now one of the questions is, can I actually focus on my own projects? Recently after taking a vacation, I've been able to focus much better in directx and I do feel more motivated, that could change though. And there's also the possibility that if I start slacking with work and feel miserable I could find a full time job later on

You want to get a CS masters? You need a portfolio for that?

Do I not need a good portfolio to get a scholarship

You should talk to an admissions person at the school you're interested in.

I think if you want a masters it should be because you enjoy schooling

#

if the point is that "I want to do graphics but do not do it currently at my current job" the best solution is to try to integrate graphics into your work

#

whether that means making a tool, optimizing an existing tool, adding a new feature

it is better to find ways to integrate graphics into your usual work since it will have greater cascading benefits for: 1. personal mental health (no FOMO from not working) 2. better to associate graphics experience with a job than as a "side project"

I mean every year they had performance reviews where they specifically asked us what technical skills we wanted to learn and what projects to take on, and every year I said.

another team would never say no to more programmers
