Like the scanner door i.e.
It is to avoid chat flooding and make it more discrete
Thanks

You can disable these with the universal block modifier

No, you can't. There is only the possibility to disable repeating a message, and to send to the whole team or just the owner. There is nothing about fully disabling the message.

But this option will break this block’s purpose, which is knowing if someone is at your base. Why placing a radar if it’s not to be informed when someone is here ? If the issue is the chat being flooded, the « don’t repeat messages » option is perfect for me

There is for the scanner door

Fair

the additon of this would purely be useful with a redstone module

Perhaps it could be a default if the redstone module is added, otherwise I don’t see any scenario where no message at all would be useful (as LIG already mentioned)

yea the purpose in my opinion is to add the ability to centralise all information in a control room, with radar (+redstone modules) linked to a monitoring system (i.e. lamps) that make you able to see where is the treat among all sectors

#

bc it feels more realistic then just seeing the alert in the chat

#

also it reduces response delay as you need to know what radar is at what coordinates

#

(badly explained)

Well you can still do that with the « repeat message=off » option on every radars and secure redstone interfaces. There is even a positive aspect of this option: even if you are not in the control room (ex at spawn or in another room) you can still know who is where.

#

And you can rename the radars with an anvil, in order to show its name in the chat when triggered

That doesn't work for someone who simply does not want to see a message in chat.

Soooo leave it how it currently is

#

Unless you just temporarily don’t want to get messages, like if you invite a friend to visit your base

#

yes I know Chainmail is in my living room. I invited her over for a slice of cake!

But then what if you add a Redstone module and don’t want chat messages, only the Redstone signal? Like if you’re just using it as a player detector or want a more immersive notification system that doesn’t clog your chat? Especially if it’s a high volume through way that would otherwise spam you like crazy?

west fiber
#

That’s basically the entire suggestion

#

But what’s the use case for no messages without a Redstone module

frosty fossil
#

Maybe the chat message toggle only exists if a Redstone module is installed?

timid vault
#

Well how would that make sense? Redstone modules functions are to send out a signal based on condition from the block used. Such toggle would make sense to connect with a smart module but thats necessary when the feature is intended for the redstone functions.

It makes sense when you frame it as the Redstone module allowing the radar to send a Redstone signal instead of OR alongside the chat message. Like a Redstone override function

#

But in this case I don’t think it’s a matter of making sense or not really. It’s a gameplay QoL function that allows for a modicum of suspension of disbelief. IMO, anyway

Agreed

i mainly suggested this because i am making a huge island with friends which posseses a bunker, a military base and a research site. And first, the security operator who is tasked to monitor sectors is not the block owner
second, he would receive tons of messages because of the amount of multiple alerts (there is a lot of players)

#

also ig its not very hard to add so why not

@spiral iris (i pinged you bc you have pls ping role) what do you think about it ?

west fiber
#

Bothering developers does not accomplish anything productive. Please don’t do it again (rule 6 and borderline rule 4)

#

Maybe there could be an option to send a chat message and output a redstone signal, just send a message, or just output a signal?

#

But that would be slightly weird though because you'd still additionally need a redstone module for the 1st and 3rd options to function peepodetective

frosty fossil
#

I still don’t see anything wrong with only giving that option once the redstone module is installed, to prevent confusion

#

You could even gray the toggle out and have it pop up with “Redstone Module Required” when you hover over it

#

That way it’s very intuitive
