• they're out of place and just an awkward game mechanic that doesn't know what it is yet
• artillery is now NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to be countered
• less footsoldiers will be seen in most games than before
• The trajectory is SUPER awkward and there will never be a real solution to make the shell trajectory for tanks like the brumbar or kv1 look realistic ARTILLERY IS NOT CLOSE QUARTERS
• ANY heavy artillery in fact makes no sense because to be in range of anything within the map they'd have to be aiming ridiculously high like a mortar
• mortars are just better in all senses!?!? Why didn't they implement mortar squads? They make the arty/recon loop more interesting, they make sense being there for the range that they have, they feel immersive and more footsoldiers will be seen in the battlefield, they can actually be COUNTERED by recon teams, smaller blast radius means more teamwork and coordination is required rather than solo tankers camping on a hill and zeroing the objective for the entire game without any counter, they look better, fit in better historically since mortars were used EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME, and finally, games like squad, enlisted, and squad44 have already implemented this and they just WORK.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TEAM17 JUST ADMIT YOU DONT SEE A FUTURE FOR SPAs AND GET TO WORK ON MORTARS

how is arty immpossible to counter? Its easier to counter, but unfortunately still very similar to how it was. There is one gun, you can very quickly dismantle it so they cant shoot for a while. slightly better then how it was

The SPA range max is 600m, so 3 grids tops

That's more shallow than most good AT players go looking for tanks and garrisons

Maybe you should suggest the devs implement a mechanic that uninstalls the game for the arty player when you kill them

Out of all the stuff they’ve changed in this game, SPA seems to be the weirdest addition. I do not get it at all. I sort of see why base artillery got nerfed because if you got a skilled 6 man squad to run 3 guns on defense in offensive mode, GOOD LUCK WINNING

I’ve seen a lot of people wanting mortar squads and I think that’s an awesome idea

I was an actual mortarman in the marines and they use a 3 man teams to run 60mm mortars, on average you could carry 18 rounds per team, 6 per person in a backpack, once you ran out of rounds you just became a rifleman like everyone else

To be honest, just grab engineer level 3 and flank with your SL, it’s not that difficult. I did this the other day, we took out 3 SPA’s which was all they used. I just think we need to get used to it. I think we should give up on base artillery, they are giga boring. Recon should be given 1x satchel, and they should introduce mortar squads for both sides whether thats in warfare or offensive. Max 1 squad, per team, and it must be within 150-200 meters. Anyways, this is a good update, it’s just really not actually tested yet so we’ll see how they proceed in the near future.

They are fine to use. Have been playing loads with them and your using them wrong, I know this because your talking about the awkward trajectory, it’s not a tank it’s artillery and should be used as such, if your driving round trying to direct fire against other tanks your using it wrong and need to just go tanking. Sit 400-500m away from where you want to be shooting and start doing the maths,
