instead of the whole adding a sniper rifle just allow us to add a scope onto the rifles if we choose to and having to unlock that scope at a certain level
👎 big fat NO for me as well, would be terrible if everybody could have a scope. This is no BF.
It wouldn't work for the American faction. There is no 1903A3 in the game and the M1C sniper (m1 Garand with scope) was not fielded until the after the fall of Germany.
rifleman is not forgotten, many higher mid-high levels use it for just for having a semi auto rifle, instead of hving to use another class with an smg or something
add the m1903 for rifleman (no scope) and maybe also different versions of it maybe as a dlc (usmc dlc?)
Heck no. Awful idea. We already have 4 useless snipers per game doing nothing to help their team. If anyting they should remove sniper entirely or make it so you need to be level 10 spot before you can play sniper. 95% of the time snipers are under level 30. scoped weapons have no place in this game. Also rifleman level 6 is a great class many use.

Springfields weren’t used outside of the rifle grenider role and even that was rare by D-Day.
The USMC wasn’t sent to Europe and thus has no reason to be in the game
I don’t think recon weapons should really be implemented into infantry squads.Though I will say, it would be interesting to see maybe the flare gun in like the top tier medic loadout to give it more purpose.
HELL NAH, every dude on the planet would be running around with scopes on their guns. That’s awful for balance and accuracy

also no to this idea, the picture you posted is from the movie saving private Ryan, in the movie that character was a sniper selected to join a small detachment to go look for one individual. Snipers are a specialized role and should remain that.
I use rifleman a lot. At any kind of distance the rifle is preferable to the smg. Also the German rifle with a scope is the same rifle as the sniper.

Oh, that explains it all, then I'm scrapping that idea too, but there's still the other post I made recently about customizing helmets and badges if you want to give your opinion on that.
Most of the snipers in the game have 3x scopes with the exceptions being the kar9k sniper and Lee Enfield sniper which have 8x
Snipers should absolutely never be given to rifleman. The game already has an over abundance of automatic weapons, there's no reason to make the weapon pool more ridiculous

It makes little sense why the German sniper has such a big advantage in terms of magnification. I have only seen that large 8x scope in Enemy at the Gates and some behind the line propaganda pics. In reality 90% of the time, German snipers used the 4x ZF39 scope. Having the 4x ZF39 in the game would be more historically accurate and balanced.

Level 8 rifleman should probably have a grenade launcher or something with smokes or at grenades. Having lvl 8 snipers will turn certain maps like kursk unbearable for infantry movement.
Rifle greniders deserves to be it’s own class
@bronze geyser Rifle grenadiers would have an attachment on their rifle to fire grenades over long distances, not just getting a ton of grenades to throw. A rifle grenider would have way to many greande options to make have it be for a single loadout and thus deserves its own class unless true laodout customization is introduced to Hell Let Loose

Problem is though is that rifleman is quite useless atm next to medic. There is no reason to take it over other classes unless you really want the g43 and ammo box for germans. I thought a rifle grenade launcher might convince experienced players to take the role.
Thats a general loadout issue. If they add rifle greniders it needs to coincide with a massive rework to classes, loadouts, and squad types
It isnt useless, many comp players use it. For Germany and the USA, you get good weapons and dont have other responsibilities. Id say its more useful than Medic and Automatic Rifleman
Its has more mags and can drop ammunition, so I would say its far bettee than the current medic.
Rifleman getting scoped rifles would change the entire gameplay dynamic - it would be so insanely oppressive

I obviously totally disagree with OP that Rifleman is useless and that they should have snipers
HOWEVER, the ZF41 was a 1.5x designated marksman optic (not for snipers!) which the Germans used. According to Wikipedia, more than 100,000 were produced throughout the War.
This isn't something that I desperately want to see in the game, but I think it's something interesting to bring to people's attention. I could see them adding this for the Kar98k as an alternative high level option to the G43. I wouldn't want it to be common, and it would probably only be balanced against the Americans, but 1.5x is very short so it wouldn't affect the balancing that much and there is some historical precedent for it

the ZF in here stands for weapons able to put on scopes not as big as the 100k you got - but thats because more ZF got built that guns for it got produced

Also somewhat unfair for anyone else.
We already have around 1.5x zoom while being in ADS mode with any non-scoped rifle (probably with holding breath but haven't tested... maybe even without it). You wouldn't see almost any difference (if any at all), except your vision would be obscured by the 2D sniper scope overlay. Therefore 1.5x scope would serve no function in HLL unless the default ADS zoom would change to be visibly weaker (which would imo help a great deal against the super accurate long range shooting that is possible in HLL +some weak sway that would affect only the hands with the gun and not the 1st person camera to prevent the player from keeping full control... but that's another story).
I don't think we need more scopes. What we do need is for players to be able to hide in the grass at distance. Once you're far enough away, the grass disappears so the player is a sitting 🦆
A zf-41, kar-98k or g43 for rifleman or spotter would be a pretty nice addition and still quite historically accurate. I like the idea!

That list says they also made 50k volksgewher and they only started producing FG-42’s in 1944 so idk what’s up with this
Kar98k and G43 production numbers seem accurate though. Like you said, it seems like they forgot to mention the early E variant of the FG-42.
Iirc the source only mentions the Type 2/G of the FG42 and leaves out the prototypes and Type 1
The G41 number is so high because many factories only went over to producing G43s in 44 @slow quiver and all that took time

People advocating for more snipers are just butthurt that they never get to be a sniper. If they was able to be a sniper, they would understand how broken they are and that this game does not need more snipers on the teams. In reality during WW2 snipers were pretty rare on the battlefield and having 2 snipers per 50 men is even being generous.
Recon should absolutely be reduced to 1 squad per team

I think it's a pretty cool idea to have a dedicated marksman role in the squad. I wouldn't give them a scope, though. You could just give them a bigger zoom-in when holding shift to still your breath. It's very simple to implement as well, you have to change a single number for which all supporting systems already exist, just needs to be made into a class-based variable.
