#2025 roadmap - what it could include to make up for being late and what is a must-to-be-there

There are only a few things that could be a good-enough apology for the late roadmap (even if improbable):

  • modding support (always ensures a long life for any game)
    or
  • big overhauls for the already existing systems
    • dying to matter (and the medic's reviving hand in hand with it) and ammo as well
    • resource node system
    • deeper tank damage system
    • deeper gunplay
    • arty <> recon meta, removing the HQ arty guns
    • loadout/progression system
    • more squad types
    • etc.
      or
  • big expansion of server admin capabilities in relation to the gamemodes/matches
    • to be able to set/reset the match timer
    • adminSpawn/despawn vehicles, garrisons, and nodes
    • set auto-vehicle-spawn rosters or even disable it
    • add/remove resources
    • set the off-limits boundaries for each team
    • forbid certain squad types, classes and loadouts
    • set custom maximum amounts of squad types
    • set maximum class/loadout amount per team (to limit AT and satchel player count if desired)
    • set the strongpoint locations
    • force capture a point via an admin function
    • turn off possibility of capture (so the mid point stays neutral for example)
    • set custom vehicle spawn prices and cooldowns
    • set the Commander's powers roster (to be able to disable/enable certain powers)
    • etc.
      or
  • upgrade to UE5 (if not for the visuals, then at least for the systems it would allow to use, like Squad developers are doing it)

Must-to-have content that has been long time overdue already:

  • mortars
  • rifle grenades
  • tripods for MGs
  • building heavy MG emplacements (structures with pre-placed MG usable by anybody)
  • a simple low sandbag wall as a buildable structure we used to have in the past
  • tank destroyers
  • movable AT guns
  • Panzerfausts
  • firing modes and sights adjustment for weapons that allowed it
  • hiding the mines into the ground after placing them (could take at least 10-15 seconds to do, to make up for it +not possible on the solid surfaces)

Now, I know many players are asking for the Pacific. But realistically/objectively - as long as the game doesn't have even sufficient amount of maps for the already existing non-US factions (nor for the British, nor for the Soviets), the Pacific should be out of question for 2025 at the very least until we get them. And also after we receive all the must-have items I listed too.

How is the roadmap late? They never claimed it would be out on a certain date. They just said there would be one. The devs don't owe you anything. It really isn't a big deal because the whole roadmap just needs to be 2 words, Bug Fixes. Also the pacific is never coming to Hll.

"They never claimed it would be out on a certain date. The devs don't owe you anything."
True, they don't owe us anything. But the same way the other comparable gaming dev studios don't either and yet they provide news, roadmaps, delviering the content etc on their games on much better frequency and in a timely manner. For example, SQ44, Arma Reforger or OHD.

You are OK with their slow pace of delivering both the news and real stuff? You are OK with the low quality of stuff delivered? You are obviously used to such quality of service level. But such an attitude always inevitably leads to even lower quality as the dev guys above won't feel any pressure from the bottom.

One can hardly release a year roadmap in a middle of it, right? I know we are far from that, but a roadmap set for a specific year should naturally be released in the 1st weeks of that said year. We are getting to the end of January and according to Greg, the roadmap is still weeks away.

"Also the pacific is never coming to Hll."
Let's hope so 😄 . But yeah, realistically - even if they planned on doing it, it would be years away if any kind of dev logic would be followed.

Well i mean technically a roadmap can be realesed at any point. Its just what Will happen in the next year after the roadmap releases whatever time that may be lol. Also I didn't say anything about quality or pace of news. I simply said the roadmap is not late because there was no set release date. Lol and don't get me wrong I'd love pacific it's just extremely unlikely

@cedar lava
"i wouldnt call TDs must haves as i understand why they would be hard to balance"
Yep, but tank destroyers were important and undividable part of both the armoured and combined WWII warfare. Their absence is not due any tech limitation like airplanes are. So far they haven't been implemented only because the devs don't seem to want to be bothered to make them, the same as improving the armour system. So in any case I stand by them being long time overdue. If there was a better armoured system, it would be naturally possible to balance them easier. However, I believe it would not be impossible even with this current armoured systems.

A roadmap in general yes. But not HLL's roadmap - since this one is supposed to specifically encompass the year from the start till the end. That's why previous roadmap and this one is called "2024 roadmap" and "2025 roadmap". The devs have chosen this format, not me. So they should keep up to it (or to stop calling it a "202x roadmap"). Anyway, it's not much relevant, it's more about the items in it. Let's hope they won't let us down, whatever will be there.
