I borrow this functionality from company of heroes.

Instead of a fixed position let one man carry the heavy machine gun. If he is shot it will be placed near the place of death.
It need time to set up.
It has more ammo than the standard machine gun.
It should be placeable in builsings
It has somewhat more penetration than the machinegun.

So why would you want to have a heavy machinegun?
Well it might not be as lucrative for germany or the US. But the soviets and british have a lack of good machineguns.
That way it could act somewhat as a substitude.

There should be a teamlimit of course.

easier: make HMG class for machine gunner that makes a buildable like the AT guns. limit 1 per squad. done.

If you want to move the machine gun just dismantle it and then build it again somewhere else. In real life it would be a coordinated effort of 2-4 people to move one of those medium machineguns. The Soviet and British need medium machine guns to compete with the German machine guns, but if it would require half a squad just to move them then the MG-42 and MG-34 would still run circles around them.

The logistics of having to have a truck to move medium machine guns compared to the MG-43 and 42 is also very bad. Not everything in this game is already realistic. You can pull a 50 lb PTRS out of your a55, build a AT gun from out of nowhere with a wrench, and create spawn points with a watch. True carrying a 100 pound mg is unrealistic too but it would look too damn goofy and gives you no way to defend yourself quickly. I like the idea of building a medium machine gun with a wrench and if you want to move it just dismantle the machine gun and build it somewhere else. You would also have a bolt action rifle or something to defend yourself while changing machine gun positions.
