Depends entirely on map and team. Offensive can be fun, but on a map like Omaha it's just nuts how easy it is to prevent allies from leaving the beach in most situations. As result it's very unfun for allies players to spawn and get killed constantly.

yeah, but there's also the argument that maps other than normandy maps are better on offensive, especially for new players, when they dont have to switch from defence to offense. it's easier to be more cohesive and have more fun
