#HLL desperately needs these QoL additions/changes and beyond

What QoL is HLL missing in my opinion?

  • managing squad while alive (locking/unlocking, kicking squad members, setting designation - attack/defend/support)
  • functions for Numpad numbers to contact a single specific SL (Num0 to contact just the Commander, Num1 to contact just Able SL...)
  • despawn via some manual action on a spawnpoint, to be able to change the class or deploy somewhere else without the need of dying
  • having counters for the vehicle pop limit and garrisons limit somewhere on the map UI, so we don't have to count by eye
  • scrollable text-chat history
  • ~~ability to VOIP talk on the post-match screen 🟨 ~~
  • ~~match timer on the deployment screen - it is on the scoreboard, but the timer should definitely be on the deployment screen as well ✅ ~~
  • scoreboard resource counts are obscured by the text-chat
  • 1 button to change all appearance presets to 1 or the other preset for all the classes at a time with 1 click +being able to have more than 2 presets
  • be able to set which map should load which appearance preset (for example, after loading Foy, the game changes the preset for all the classes to one we set for that map somewhere in the main menu)
  • unstucking vehicles mechanics
  • temporary vehicle claiming by players and/or vehicle locking by the Commander
  • post-match boards to include information about how long the match was after it ended +info about next map without the need for it being shown by admins in the server broadcast
  • we shouldn't be allowed to leave the HQ spawn area during the warmup as so many players need to run on foot to the red wall in case the dummy truck drivers left the HQ straight away and stopped there
  • Commander should to be able to set markers to specific squads so he can set on the map visually for SLs to see which squad should be where +doing what

  • remove the forced delay between 2 in-game textChat messages - like why such a thing is even there? And why even with an error/info message that we need to wait x seconds until we can write another message? It's so annoying and it pushes the actual messages further to the top and combined with the lack of chat history it is pretty bad.
  • non-usable OPs of other squads should be in hieararchy behind our squad's OP at all times - often we can't select our OP on the tactical map easily because some other OP of some other squad is obscuring it on the map if built very close to each other
  • server browser - we need more filters (min/max ping, map, gamemode) - so far we don't have any filters except for the filter by name and we have just sorting
  • server browser - we need to be able to see remaining time of the match of the selected server. Seeing also the status would be nice (like... GER 3:2 US).
  • server browser should remember the last selected tab (for example favourites)
  • server browser - ability to see the maps rotation of the selected server (or information that the maps are set by map-voting by the players)

Need to fix the current anti-QoL stuff as well:

  • server info text is empty very often after joining the server and the text appears only after the 1st respawning
  • fixing the VOIP input cancelling itself several times after dying (and the textChat is pretty much doing that as well)
  • click on anybody on the scoreboard disables their audio regardless if we click on the mute button or anywhere else in the player's row
  • sound when capping/losing an objective is tied to the "display HUD" key (T) so it doesn't get played the moment when we cap/lose, but it's played when we press T no matter if several minutes later - it should play immediately when the sector is capped/lost no matter if HUD is displayed at that time or not

Wouldnt people be able to mis-use the "changing class without the need of dying" by for example spawning in as AT, shoot 2 rockets, switch to support, dropping explosive ammo and quickly changing back to AT to shoot 2 more rockets?

No as the despawn feature would have a cooldown to prevent from such spamming/abuse - I would make it usable just 1x per 2 minutes. It would be there just for not need to die if right next to the spawn - for people who care about K/D. I am sure the rest would still use ESC->REDEPLOY. (but honestly, if it was up to me, I would add a cooldown for the REDEPLOY function as well 😄 )

I meant the **despawn **to work this way:

  • we press F on a spawnpoint (our OP or any type of spawnpoints usable by us) and choose "despawn" option
  • we enter the screen that so far we have known just as a "deathscreen", but instead of "You were killed" red text there would be "You are despawning" yellow text while still have to wait the 10s of waiting time till we get to the deployment screen
  • during the 10s waiting on the despawn screen, our character would be helpless still rendered next to the used spawnpoint but we could cancel any time
  • by getting to the deployment screen, our character in the 3D world disappears and we are spawning as usual on any spawnpoint we choose
  • ever since the deployment, we would need to wait the 2 minutes until we can use this option again

Right! I knew I forgot to mention something! The server browser QoL things.
Added:

I would add to this that the server admins need some type of console that would allow them to spawn tanks, trucks, garries etc. Like a sandbox mode for testing.
For example you would need to put your server into sandbox mode so it wont award exp.

I agree, but that't not much about QoL. Smells more like about being able to customise the game/gamemode, and admin tools. QoL is about adding stuff that doesn't change anything, just makes the already existing processes easier and/or less annoying.

Could look somehow like this - an extra extension of the marker menu to select the squad (could be enough even if it would work just for the "Defend" and "Attack" markers). Would create a yellow CMD's markers, just with added letters to them.

Would be nice if such markers would have some radius the CMD would be able to set as well (from 100m to let's say 350m) - all the players belonging to an assigned marker's squad outside the radius could be getting -100 of score or XP each minute... or warned +auto-killed if went far beyond the marker's radius... something like that, so the CMD's orders are effective.

And reward as well - if a squad would be assigned to defend a certain area, it would be getting additional points every minute into the defence score while being in that DEFEND marker's range. The same but with the ATTACK marker that would be rewarding additional offence points for the assigned squad's members within its radius.

-** the Commadner should be able to see the cooldown durations of the call-ins even before he uses them so he can plan ahead** (currently the cooldown reveals itself only after using the Commander's call-in)

heh, 1 more QoL:

  • we should be able to keybind the markers so we don't have to search for those most frequently used ones on the marker-wheel (for example, N+1 would immediately create an infantry marker without the need of entering the marker wheel)

I remember seeing you around back in the day Sam and the big fiasco you made when you left. Now you're back here and offering up feedback again, which you already know won't be listened to.

Do you do this because it makes you feel better?

I said it before and I will say it again - I like thinking about game features in general, I like finding holes in them (in terms of being glitchable/abusable or straight broken) and making/creating suggestions. It doesn't have anything to do with HLL, I would do it with any game I would care about. Unfortunately there is no any other WWII realistic+hardcore shooter on the horizon anymore. When I see some features/metas are broken or abusable for a long time, then of course I complain no matter if listened to or not, it just must be said loud, for the record.

There doesn't seem to be anybody in Team17 with passion for HLL and for what they are doing in relation to it - they seem to be taking it just as a job and nothing more. Starting with Team17's HLL CMs and ending with their devs. It's sad...

In short: I do it because I can and because I like to. And yes I know very well that Team17 doesn't rly care at all.
