Something needs to be done about people who start a recon squad and immediately lock it and refuse to let anyone join for 15 minutes leaving a valuable recon spot unused and unavailable.
There also needs to be something put in place so that if I am in a recon squad at the start of the game and my spotter leaves I shouldn't be able to be kicked by a new spotter as soon as they join.
Almost every game I've been kicked by a spotter who joined after me who then left the slot locked for 10 minutes before a friend joins them.

game is game buddy, play as a spotter and kick people yourself lol
on the note of you saying that spotter needs his sniper all the time, he really doesn't at the start lol
Find a friend to run recon duo with
Get friends. I have no problem playing recon with my buddy.
Community run servers tend ti kick solo locked recon squads after a certain amount of time
add more recon squads lol atleast one there hard to even get in as is worse when people abuse them.
2 good recon squads behind your lines is enough of a headache.
Yeah spotters can abuse it, but then too many people play it just for the scope because they need the crutch. Then will just run solo, like a level 1 infantryman straight outta Game Pass.
I'll keep anyone that talks and PTFOs, first come first serve.
I've kicked solo snipers to make room for a regular playing buddy, but only when I can see they are just running the point/not behind lines.
I've also run as solo Spotter and locked the squad, usually if I'm doing the dirty work and taking Garrisons/building them behind lines.
I have though regularly spotted and left it open for a sniper, tried to talk and even offered.to help and talk if they don't have mic. All the sniper needs to do is let me know they're listening and gonna give me cover to get garries. It's tiresome trying to take we'll placed carries without cover, so I will sometimes kick for that reason.
But! I've also had no mic snipers who have come along for the ride and messaged me via xbox later to say tnx and they loved it.
If you're doing solo work you might as well let someone play sniper still even if they're off on their own playing point. What I'm mainly talking about though is 5 minutes into the game after 6 people have joined and left once they realized the open spot was for spotter, I've had someone kick me without saying anything to me while I've been advancing to play behind enemy lines and search for garrisons
I know what you're referring to and I've had it myself where I've joined a Spotter, he left and a new player joins then kicks me for his new mate. Super annoying.
The reason you'd still lock it off though, is that if you go behind lines and don't have an experienced sniper, they can spawn on you OP, run straight at the active point and blow your position. Sometimes, it's just more effective. You can do it as a solo SL too, which works the same way, just lacks the flare
It also ruins anyone's chance of getting the rarest role in the game, lock a normal squad.
Recon does have unique abilities over a regular squad, regarding outpost placement and flares. Good recon outposts, that take time to set up, are given away by bad players.
They've gotta be a team player or they might as well run rifleman. I'll give people a chance to join when I lock it but if they don't talk or at least use the new pings they get the boot. Sometimes I'll be left with no sniper until the next person requests but that's better than a bad one.
Ultimately, the role is Recon, not some Sniper-Elite
Just remove recon from the game entirely. Nobody likes getting destroyed from 350+ meters away. Nobody likes a squad that can place an OP almost anywhere. Plus, by removing recon, it would stop the recon-artillery spawnkilling meta for the majority of recon who try to spawnkill instead of doing their primary job as recon.

if you really want to be petty about it and you get kicked by a spotter for his friend just stay alive for the rest of the match and his friend will be unable to take sniper role👍
While it may be the "rarest" the sniper role certainly isn't the most valuable. A good solo spotter is infinitely more useful than 75% of snipers you will get paired with.
Then leave the sniper to do whatever while you play solo?
Again I was kicked immediately without any comms from spotter as soon as they joined and then they left the squad locked for the rest of the match by themselves. I have a mic and if they said something to me I would have answered what they asked or stayed out of their way but they just kicked me and locked it immediately
So they can spawn on my ops and give away my position and inevitability get the Op destroyed? nah
Read your own username. 🗿
Huh? I don't need to cope my squad will be locked and I'll be doing my job. your the one with the issue here? you wanna go get some sniper kills go play COD and stay out of my squad. Learn your role before spouting off. Your 20 kills as sniper does NOTHING to help the team. Stop crying about not getting sniper and go build some nodes and actually be helpful. @frosty plinth
That excessive rambling tells me that you in fact did not cope.
again at least give the sniper a chance and say "hey stay off of OP" before you just kick them and lock the squad
Yes, but they ignore us
So kick them after they ignore you, don't just join and instantly kick the sniper everytime. I've had it happen in back to back games on the same server without the spotter saying a word to me, they just join and within 10 seconds I've been kicked
Yes, I already do that. But they always ignore me and then I let my friends join the squad. The problem is that when I kick them they immediately join my squad again and they continue to have the mic off or they just start to TK me. I'm tired of these players
