Would love to see a Vietnam version, I mentioned this a while ago on here also
Lots of Vietnam stuff out there.
Korea would provide a lot of interesting maps, equipment, and fit the gameplay better imo
Korean war ✅
I could see them just adding the korean war to this game, cuz it will pretty much just be a tweaked soviet faction vs a tweaked US faction.
Say that to us console players 😢 @wicked relic
stop
Stupid idea, go play Rising Storm Vietnam.
🥱
A game set in the Korean war would be amazing but that is a touchy subject. China and North Korea are not countries that everyone wants to piss off even if they deserve it. There hasn't been a single American movie made about the Korean war in around 30 years, around the same time the United States started a major economic partnership with China, isn't that strange? Even the Red Dawn remake around 10 years ago almost wasn't released and had to undergo major changes so as not to piss off North Korea. even if you made the game 100% historically authentic and accurate, China and North Korea would still get pissed to some degree. These devs don't even put swastikas in this game, do you actually think they have the balls to make a Korean war game,? It's funny, Korea is known as the forgotten war but it doesn't have to be, we have the power through films and video games to change that but covering the Korean war has become a taboo subject due to political reasons.
The last Vietnam game I played a lot of and enjoyed was back in 2004 on Battlefield Vietnam, What good Vietnam games are popular these days? I can't think of many apart from ARMA version?
I hate how that’s true
The Arma DLC is definitely the biggest currently.
Rising Storm 2 was back in 2017, but I think it's died down since the developers moved on.
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam was my go to game and I think in some ways it's better than HLL. Graphics are not as good which is part of the reason I switched to HLL but it felt like a more casual and enjoyable expeience. Maps were smaller and movement at least felt faster and there wasn't tanks to bog down gameplay and dominate everything. Once the devs stopped supporting the game and adding content I moved on.
I liked RS2, but I wouldn't compare it with HLL gameplay wise.
The combined arms, and teamwork focus of HLL I really like more overall.
Why I would rather see Korea over Vietnam, is to fit HLL's gameplay as much as get fresh content.
Vietnam was largely an asymmetric conflict. It should largely play asymmetrically.
World War Two was a largely symmetric war. The allied forces fought the axis conventionally for the most part.
HLL is a largely symmetric game.
The objectives on each map fit into one of three lanes (left flank, center, and right flank), and two roughly equal teams fight over them.
That's not to say there aren't asymmetric elements.
The different armies in WW2 had different weapons and armor, and so each faction should naturally have some advantages and disadvantages.
||Of course, that is with the exception of some effort made to balance the game while still portraying the realities of that disparity. This can prove to be a difficult balance.||
Korea was a conventional conflict. Both sides fielded large uniformed armies, supplied with modern weapons and armor, and fought to take and hold land.
Setting aside the ratio of numbers of men fielded, something already set aside in HLL for the Soviets, I would say Korea was a largely symmetric conflict.
Both sides fielded a mix of old WW2 inventory and newer weapons, and the gear they fielded would have respective ||but not insurmountable|| advantages and disadvantages.
The battles that took place would fit the gameplay HLL, and offer a variety of terrains and seasons to fight at night and day.
Inchon
Bloody Ridge
Heartbreak Ridge
The Punchbowl ||which covered a large area, and could provide more than one map||
The Chosin Reservoir ||same as above, big area for 2 or 3 maps||
The Pusan Perimeter ||again, multiple unique map opportunities||
Seoul ||fought over five times, hell make two versions one with little to no destruction and another absolutely wrecked||
No
