This would be a nice second-tier SMG for the German faction, similar to the way we see the grease gun on the Americans. currently I feel like the German loadouts need a little variety with SMGs and the MP28 would be a good option to have in this capacity
#MP28

what would this add?
German loadouts have the most variety in the game. Mp40, stg44, g43, fg42, mg42 and mg34. They should focus more on Soviets. @ebon prawn yeah, but afrika korps is only featured on one map, El Alamein. Soviets have 3 maps, and the balance between the Soviets and the Germans is nonexistent. Soviets have been in need to a rework for a while. Makes no sense rifleman for Germans get g43, yet only 2 classes for Soviets get the svt, not including squad leaders.
Not the Afrika Korps though
an MP28
@strange furnace oh be real man. MG34/42 are only available for MG class (who this wouldn’t get an smg) the STG is in one class and a high level unlock on the other, the G43 is just barely more common. the FG42 is one only one class total as a high level weapon. 90% of the time you’re using the K98 or MP40 and now yea afrika korps has even less.
and they should focus on the Soviets too, i’ve made multiple posts about this in the past

and? What would this do differently than an mp40? Why waste time on another smg that only serves as a coat of paint. "variety" that players will bore of after 30 minutes?
@brisk path Itll be cool for about 30 minutes. Then its just the same gameplay as before
it’ll be cool
Touch up the Lancaster a lil bit ez pz in the game with no struggle
I also think after completing the British rework they need to focus on the Soviets and then add Paratroopers as Subfactions . Airborne and also Fallschirmjäger could be on many already existing maps and give maps like Carentan a unique feel. Removing the FG42 from the Wehrmacht and adding a M1A1 Carabine to the Airborne would be great. There is much work to do bevor they add any new faction. Performance on City maps is also crap
Where the hell would that possibility fit? You need France 1940 or Poland 1939
El Alamein for the German Afrika Korps
Would love this but only for a battle of france german faction
With your mindset we should just eliminate everything from the game that's not the absolute meta. I don't understand these weirdo's phobia of variety.
Real variety. Slapping a new model on a weapon with identical gameplay is not variety, its a knick knack you will tire of after 30 minutes
Consumerist players always asking for the most useless stuff
It is real variety. Do you have any actual data to prove that people wouldn't use it? If not, you're just assuming. With your logic we should just remove everything from the game that's not the absolute meta.
Do you have any actual data to prove that people wouldn't use it
People would use it. However, it wont interest them for long, nor would it help retain players. Players will simply do the same thing they were already doing with the mp40 in the same way. Thats what faux variety is, the consumerist idea that more of the same slop is variety. It is misguided
@ebon prawn Mp28s have a 32 round magazine. You only get a 50 round magazine with a lanchester mag. HLL does not have select fire, and there is no indication it will
Youre talking about a slight firerate difference and that is all. It is the same gun, especially in HLL, where minor differences are almost never taken into account
I wouldn't say it'd be the same gun, especially in HLL, sure it wouldn't be 100% necessary but it wouldn't be a carbon copy. 550-600 rounds/min (MP 28) - 380 m/s - 50 round magazine compared to 500–550 rounds/min (MP 40) - 400 m/s - 32 round magazine It also would have select fire (when added), unlike the MP 40.
MP-28s never had a 50 round magazine. They only had a 32 round magazine, the same as MP-40s. The information you seen that says it has a 50 round mag is referring to the British Lanchester, which is a copy of the MP-28.
You would be correct on the magazine part. Thank you. I really don’t want a MP28, but I wouldn’t say it’s a carbon copy of the MP40.
the only difference is a minor fire rate change. Itll play the same
@fresh forge Frankly, the way HLL sets up its gunplay currently is a big detriment to adding new historical weapons that actually play different. Ammo could be a considerable factor but reloading is quick, can be done while sprinting, and has no "mag system", so its mostly a mute point unless it is considerably different.
Both of these could have been good additions, but the game doesnt have fireing modes and it doesnt ask you to manage ammo. Nor does it model the MP40's general lack of recoil IRL, it functions mostly the same as the thompson.
It will have different sights and a different look but yeah your right, other than that they are exactly the same. The Beretta M38A would be a better option since it can be pared with 40 round mags to differentiate it from the MP-40.
This has nothing to do with the suggestion: I mean I would say the MP40 is much more controllable compared to the Thompson, but only due to its fire rate.
well that's cause of another issue: fire rate is synonymous with controllability. There are no truly difficult to control weapons, just weapons that require more pull. recoil is mostly straight predictable lines

❌ It wouldnt add anything gameplay wise and isnt accurate either

The correct opinion.
Yep. I dont wanna be nerdy or ruining the suggestions when people ask for new weapons, but this game was once about accuracy. That is what differs it from other games. The German infantry weapons are almost complete, the only one missing is the G41
It makes a lot of sense to add this weapon in the context of the new Danzig map.
In September 1939, the MP28 was still in service and more common among German police, security units, and some paramilitary formations, such as the SS Heimwehr Danzig, which participated in the initial fighting in Danzig.
For Danzig map MP28, MP38 would fit.
@red briar that’s more clearly we see MP28 in use, so it could be the gun for 1939 map
The MP38 had only just begun production in 1938. While it already existed, its initial production was much more limited. By the end of 1939, around 40,000 MP38s had been produced,..
In the invasion of Poland in September 1939, Germany deployed a massive military force. Figures vary slightly depending on the source, but it's generally estimated that between 1.5 and 1.8 million German soldiers participated.
These are SS soldiers which only participated as regiments, so there were very few of them. And not even them used the MP28 on a wider skale. The MP38/40 just fits better in every way, MP28 isnt needed nor accurate
MP28 wasn't used, confirmed 🤭
2 of those pics are SS soldiers, and the other two look like they have been made very early in the war (1939), or even before it. Officially, the Wehrmacht never adopted it. The game is perfectly fine without it. A few new guns that were barely used wont make the game better. You will use them for half an hour and then get bored. @red briar If we are talking about SS units, then yes. But even in 1939, the Wehrmacht almost exclusively used German made guns like the MG34 and MP38. Czech weapons were mostly used by the Waffen-SS, not the Wehrmacht
I quite agree with you that new weapons replacing others will not make the gameplay different. But it is historically correct on the new Danzig map. Also there would have to be the ZB vz .26 light machine gun that would change the gameplay by being like a BAR for the Germans.
2nd image is from a movie
Was going to say that it looked way to clean
Yeah same but image reverse search gives nothing
I used duplichecker and got lots of results. Apparently it's from a Russian movie in the 60s
And in my opinion, I think, that the developers will not be slacking on the issue of historical accuracy on the Danzig map. In other words, logically it is impossible to have most of the German army's weapons on this map... MG 42, FG 42, Gewehr 43, STG 44, MP 40 even the M43 grenade are not supposed to be present on this map/date. And maybe I think that the developers did add the MP 28 because literally half of the weapons are missing. (But I personally wouldn't mind the addition of this weapon)
