Years ago, I proposed the following :
- Only saper could defuse satchels.
BUT - Add an option to carry it away (w/o) delay.
I played a lot as a Tank Commander and even if it's just a game, it makes no sense that I could be able to defuse a satchel, I mean, I'm just a Tank Commander, not an engineer :>
But I do have hands, so I should be able to carry it somewhere else to save my tank. Hell, it could just drop on the floor, that'd be enough because sometimes you can have a hard time looking for it, and find the sweet spot to have the possibility to defuse it.
Yes that is true but you ALWAYS leave the tank at the same position, have to then climb on, take the time to defuse, jump back in the tank. There should eb a pintle MG or take time to lay and set the satchel
Tanking is no longer fun in this game with 3 classes being able to satchel and the speed they can be satcheled. We have to acknowledge that for the most part games dont run with great team work. The tank needs better defence on this issu. Ie comander being able to shoot from their hatch. Grenades being able to drop out of the side of the tank. or the one im most in favour of satchels being a throw-able and not a placement meaning we have a chance to drive away.
Surely tanking relies on good communication and tactical movement, the satchel is a good balance especially to heavy tanks. An effective tank crew will stick with infantry, not stay in the same place for too long, and keep an eye out for enemy infantry moving up on them. If they don’t then they are going to get a satchel easily.

So a single satchel destroying a tiger is unrealistic and only should affect tracks not a one shot.
If only there were a way to ensure enemy couldn’t get close enough to a tank to satchel it….

Sounds to me to be a solo tanker problem parking off in some corner of the map and mad they get killed.
If you have run a satchel load you know how many times you die before you often get a successful kill --- again. If the tankers are doing it right.
Which I will agree on I've seen more times than none tanks being soloed with a locked crew and dening everyone who trys to join the crew.

It really only requires a semi competent TC to not get satcheled though, drive with or near friendlies and avoid choke points that give infantry an advantage
LOL you guys must be playing with some amazing team mates then. Absolutely NOT solo tanking, thats for the devil! Yes i am well aware they can be diffused. which is very hard to do as every one know where you apear when you get out of the tank. I do my best to stick with the infantry however people dont support or cover the Armour.
I mean, a satchel was filled with thermite + explosive so it makes sense that it just detonates your tank
Get into your tank laying down, it will exit you the same way and reduce the chances of just getting gunned down right away, also yeah probably avoid solo tanking if possible
Yet another thing the devs should take inspiration from Post Scriptum.
Sachels aren’t supposed to cause a humongous explosion on a tank. They’re supposed to disable whatever part of the tank they’re attached to.
For example if a satchel is attached to the engine of a tank, the engine blows, not a huge explosion.
I think the best solution is remove satchels from at and assault and give them a middle ground explosive that on its own will disable an engine or mess up the tracks or something but in numbers still has the ability to destroy tanks. Perhaps 1 on the engine of some of the light vehicles could destroy it but regardless I just think they need to add a “satchel lite” and reduce satchels. They can figure out the details
It was only TNT in satchels thermite was only used in aerial bombing and special hand grenades for destroying arty.
Not only can they be easily defused, they can be defused by multiple people even faster and you can hear the fuse burning.
Tanker tears are the best
I think you would hear the noise of the engine running and the turret turning over the fuse noise so that part is invalid

I'd say 80-90% of the time I can clearly hear the fuse burning.
One thing that most people aren't taking into account is how satchels are used outside of destroying tanks. Good players almost always use them to clear defensive obstacles or buildings with rats in them.
i cant say i have ever heard the fuse burning.
Satchels are op, but the issue is it’s a spam. Assault lvl 9, anti tank, and engineer both get satchels. Satchels should only be for engineer, I don’t care if they tone the satchels for anti tank and assault, but the fact that satchels basically one shot tanks of any size speaks volume.
That's your fault if your spotter isn't looking around the tank. if someone can sneak up on you and put a satchel on you without you noticing its a skill issue.
