I think this would be a good change, I’d also like if america got 12 since I believe they had 2 man units in ww2 (might be mixing this up with another major faction though). Not sure if it’s would help with class dynamics but it would be fun




This would fix a lot of issues such as role spam, issues with finding squad leaders also. Surprised they’ve yet to even implement this. More people in a squad means less squads, less squads mean you’re not going to see a span of anti tank, or machine gunner since it’s less squads. @ebon gorge yeah I kinda realized that after, some people would just make new squads, leave and rejoin back. I do agree with a cap on certain roles, and removing smgs for certain roles also, only issue is people are going to think we’re trying to make the game like squad or post scriptum. It’s not fun using bolt actions at all when someone with a smg has a clear advantage over you, and most people who play the game use the smgs or automatic rifles.
This won’t fix anything. What people will do is they will make new squads, once all of the specialist roles are full (assault, auto rifleman, MG, etc), and keep spamming automatic weapons.
What needs to happen is the devs need to cap the amount of MG’s, rocket launchers, SMG’s, etc on a team wide level.
Usually smaller squads + contextual squad switch are better and more efficient than having large squads.
To add to this, why would you even want 9. Current total of 12 squads per 6 people obviously can accommodate for the whole 49 men team if you have some sort of infantry only event.

Yes and no. It would have no effect on comp games but in the pub games it would change a lot because nobody wants to play SL.
But yes less smgs, at and assault rifles would also be an improvement.
I would be ok with this only if it's a server setting and not game-wide.

Perhaps limit the number of infantry squads to something more manageable while incrementing the number of people on each squad.
Say... something round 7-9 squads of 9 people that can accomodate pubs who only want to play with their friends, that would be an starter in how to curtail the rocket/satchel/auto spam.
Next step/other way is compartimentalization of roles (engis on one branch, AT on another branch, merge assault and auto)

Less SLs, less OPs/Garrisons. It’s bad enough in pub matches now
Perhaps raise squad player count and lower squad amount. This would fix some of the class spam and make classes get used more. However, don't force it. Make it a SERVER OWNER FEATURE. Meaning server owners can toggle the amount of squads/squad size.
No it will decrease the amount of SLs and will just make it harder to work together, harder to make the unit work together and so on.
How will having less squads be bad? If anything it makes units need to work together more. Also, more squads generally with coms vs a bunch of little squads with no coms. Also, making it a server option gives options instead of locking things out.
Who’s going to build garrisons then?

The existing SLs or the commander or the recon. Hell, even giving the ability to tanker commanders would remedy any issue you may see with this.
But we barely get any garrisons up with the amount of SLs we have today, why have even fewer?
