Some sets of capture points are more balanced between factions than others, for competitive as well as casual play. Letting the admin choose the capture points may cause greater variety in map rotations on servers because some maps aren't used because a certain set of capture points may make the match unfun and kill the server.

But that will also be the way it is now with various cards - they will no longer be played at all.
that's how it will be with the hardcaps and the selection is then also very dependent on where the person who sets them sees the most advantages for themselves the random placement seems to me to be the better choice because there the monotony is also reduced which is, in my opinion, the better choice on the whole.
if i have to play the same x cards then at least it's good that the hardcaps are random.
who wants to play PHL 100 times with always the selebn 3 hard caps just because an admit likes to play some side and then they have advantages.
especially as every map then becomes a hose lvl and a repetitive death zone

um i was one of them and i know what kind of discussions i have to have why this or that card is in the rotation and not that one or why not card x 2 times should be in the rotation and why there are no or too many offensive cards in the server rotation , trust me there are real wars of faith going on its not funny .
In my experience over the last 4 years, such an option would only be a good idea on the surface, but would only create divisions and problems in the long run.
remember how excited people are not! were you supposed to rent an extra server for the new game mode, the situations are similar.

The idea that admins would be putting stuff in map rotation so they, personally, could get lots of points in a game is kinda funny but that's not how it works.

They want players to have a fun time on their servers. Because players go to the servers where they have fun. The absolute last thing they would do is try to ruin the game for one side so they can get easy points in a game.

If you take some time to talk to some people who run servers you can get a better idea of these things.

For each cap 2 cap there are 7 different layouts, therefore 28 in total for every map. I'm part of the tactics dept in my team and boy oh boy this sh*t is hell.

This might be overall not an issue for public games. However, some points are simply one-sided and such a pain to play if behind (Remagen when it's not bridge for example might be a strong example).

I really can't see any downsides to it, especially if they design a proper tool that maybe lets the admin adjust probability for each point (without breaking the diagonal mechanic ofc).

I think admins can be trusted with this. Great idea, especially for comps.

it would also be good for admins to be able to change the state of a cap sector (which team holds it) for times when a sector is capped in breach of seeding rules etc

I don't completely disagree, it can be a good thing, but I see a major problem. Some map layouts will definetly get wayyy overused than others and make an already repetetive set of games even more repetetive. Im already tired of seeing St Mere Eglise and St Mary Du Mont every other game and making it so servers are using the same strongpoints for those maps would be even more annoying. Atleast theres some variety between them. So, how would I fix it? Simple, public servers can't choose the hardpoints. They have to be password protected to unlock the hardpoint picker.
