#Rebalance for Realism/Historical Accuracy?

@cursive dust I am here for 80% immersion and 20% gameplay hah. I am here to experience what the soldiers had to. So yes here for immersion. I remember landing on Omaha for the first time and was like wow, this is what they really had to go through? I loved hell let loose because it puts you in hopleess situation sometimes. If the enemy doens't kill you it's the terrain that is providing the enemy with a big advantage. I'm ok with that. Because overcoming those obstacles and getting past though unwinnable situations makes accomplishing just that all the more rewarding.

I think the game would be a lot more dynamic like this anyway
Agree this game needs to be more realistic
Yes
All for it, Can’t wait to see the Sherman bouncing Panzer IV rounds off the front, or the Jumbos that also can’t be penned from the front by any weapon in the game. Or the M3 75mm and Bazooka penning the front of Tigers. Would be pretty funny to see the Firefly unable to hit the broadside of a barn, and the M2 .50 penning the Puma, Luchs, and maybe even the sides of the Panzer IV.
Don't take this suggestion seriously and just hear me out
But if we wanna go full historical accuracy then German tanks (Especially late war or the Panther at Kursk) should have a % chance to just break down. This coupled with the terrible gear switching in armor will ensure that poor Hans grinds the transmission of any tank into dust before it even gets close to the front
Would be funnier to hear the Gear box grinding on the Panther and Tiger every time they shift gears
👍

Even a stationary Tiger can be a formidable foe... until the US actually rolls out 10 Shermans for every Tiger 😉
But seriously: "balance" can be achieved by multiple factors. The game can be asymetrical, but still fair.

Realism is cool and all but if you want a realistic game you'd spend most of if digging trenches.
The game needs to be playable and, in the grand scheme of things, feel fair.
Making steamrolls even more common is short sighted
Game definitely needs to be more realistic, esp. considering the kickstarter promises of making a game with realistic gunplay similar to Red Orchestra 2 but on bigger maps. And as old RO2 vets know, it went for all out realism in terms of realistic bullet damage, trajectory and penetration, i.e. no silly stuff of needing 2-3 shots to kill someone with a machine gun vs 1 single shot with a bolt action when both are chambered in the same round !!. For a high immersion value a game such as this should rely on assymmetrical balance, where balance is achieved through number & cost of weapon/vehicle type available based on their relative effectiveness, as well as map design (i.e. in general [not always for historical reason] give the side with stronger weaponry less favorable starting terrain etc. Thats what this game needs, and it would be a much bigger and importantly, long lasting game, if it went that route. It's all up to T17 now wether its that, or the quick buck of just a nother arcade WW2 shooter with a few novel traits here and there..
Make rifles kill again. 200m 2 hit kill is very unrealistic. A mounted 50cal would take your arm off without even hitting you, but in HLL it's a 3 hit kill past 100m.
Reward marksmanship, not punish.
The kar98 used to take someones soul. IF there was one thing you could count on.. It was the reliability of the bolt action rifle to put someone down. WHY did they nerf it I have no clue.
I would agree with this change if there was any sort of difficulty in actually shooting. I wouldn’t call the twitch shooter gameplay we have marksmanship
^
If we followed true historical accuracy (not wehraboos idea of it) the tiger and panther would have a high chance of breaking down and would cost more fuel (like 900).
Also, there would be max one tiger or panther every game because they were outnumbered 4 to 1 by shermans
I would be totally fine with it tho bc then we would have to introduce new vehicles like stug (stug life!) or rely on AT guns. German at guns got far more tank kills than german tanks, to the extent that shermans crews were often content to keep their 75mm guns for HE. If they needed to kill a tiger, they could use their mobility to flank the sides.
Games are meant to be a source of fun if anything obstructs the pleasure of playing what is the point of buying it in the first place.
team 17 does not want to push little timmys away by making the game hardcore like it used to be
Please make the game more realistic. That is what HLL was advertised like. Don't turn this into COD or BF. The arcadey players who are making fun of mil sim loving players that there is nothing such as realistic in video games because video games are video games. Yes we know it's a video game and yes we know that if somebody kills us we are not going to bleed out sitting in our chairs. The point is, making the "video game" as realistic as possible. Of course video games are not realistic. If it were you couldn't have respawned but there is a difference between foul COD/BF and games like Post Scriptum. HLL was promised to be the tactical milsim like PS but it has turned into an arcade game. Please make this game hard and difficult, force the players to communicate with their teams and squads. Implement mechanisms that doesn't let the matches end in 20 minutes.

At least it's not like the Wex in Verdun, use that and then come back to the flamethrowers in HLL, you'll be so thankful for what you have already 😂
