I highly doubt the devs would ever add smoking or alcohol to the game. But I would love to smoke a lucky strike while im big chilling in a foxhole 😄 Commander gets a cigar maybe 🙂 You could find cigarettes on dead enemies if they had them and alcohol. Along with that item's like flags, lugers, watches etc for keepsake. Keepsake items are for... Well idk? Boost morale? Manpower? 😄 but I can imagine a version of HLL that had some mechanics in place where players would smoke, drink and search the bodies of enemies for one reason or another. It just feels good to conquer the enemy and take something from them.

I could see this being fun, add a morale system based on cap points and garys and such like that then this could add small nearly negligible amounts of morale. Not taken too seriously but I could see it being fun!

I would love to see a cigarette animation you have play out maybe it’s somewhere on the ping wheel, and maybe even idle animations like not having the weapon at the ready when sitting stationary in a position for a while

tbh if they make something similar to the cantine in post scriptum but it effects supression in some way that might be an interesting mechanic. Like you recover faster from supression.

My guy would be chain smoking in a foxhole chillen while artillery shells keep landing next to me 😄 @shut rain Can you imagine jumping out of a tank with a thompson blowing a guy away who was trying to satchel and you got a cigarette hanging out of your mouth 😄

Yeah, I’d love reward or free/paid dlc idol animation/emotes for reaching certain classes or downloading/purchasing them. No effect on gameplay, but for role playing and having fun + it’d be historically accurate.

I can just see me and my buddies smoking up a bunker on the Atlantic Wall or sitting down and smoking while waiting for our tank to spawn in the HQ while laughing away!

Canteens would be cool, if not implemented like Post Scriptum. As Post Scriptum made them the most annoying things. @odd onyx I didn’t like the mechanics where it’s what you needed to go anywhere. As the stamina system required on it. Although the way you want it as bonus to help fight against suppression would make sense.

@near oar This has gotta be your best idea yet! I friggin’ love the idea of just spending your time having fun for once! Maybe when tanks get interiors we can do the “best job I ever had” meme inside the tanks lol.

Maybe the items you find for keepsake could be used for store credit and make purchases hah. Or to get an item for free you need to find 3 items in particular. A watch, a flag and maybe a luger. And then you'll have that guy who's always asking anyone if they've seen a luger hah 🙂 But then we would need inventory system so you could pick up and drop items to trade etc etc etc. Again not exactly a serious suggestion but I do like the idea of killing then pillaging the dead 🙂 and @shut rain Is that a Fury movie reference. And to take finding items on enemy bodies even further you might find battle plans on the commanders body or something. Revealing all of the garrison locations. Or on a squad leader you might find his op location. Idk just coming up with reasons to search bodies hah 🙂 And it would be cool to ask people if they had any cigarettes - might need them for smoking emote or for store credit. Who knows, so many ways you could do this.

This has legal issues. Some countries, such as Australia, have restrictions on drugs and tobacco in media being presented in a good light. This is a quick way to get the game banned in these markets.

So I've looked into this topic, Australia only bans games or websites for advertising the use of tobacco. The only instances I could find of games actually being banned for tobacco usage, were in games that were literally developed by big companies in the tobacco industry. There are other games that are rated PEGI 18 or PEGI 16 like HLL, that aren't banned in Australia, such as GTA V and Cyberpunk that have cigarettes and other smoking products that would be considered a higher threat to children. There would have to be a disclaimer present though.

The use of drugs is a different story, so no Japanese or Germans taking meth.

GTA V is banned in many countries for showing gambling, so no gambling ig.

Oh no, another crappy suggestion.

I might understand if engineers and people around who build defenses can take a cigarette, but not if people on frontlines or in active combat.

Man, y'all screaming how running speed broke spawn system (while it did not), but you're ready to change spawntimes left and right by adding questionable and potentially useless things into the game.

@shut rain smoking is questionable, maybe only if they add some kind of emote system (hello Fortnite), because adding smoking alone is a no go, it should be some kind of system/abstraction for multiple things (again, emote system).

I do agree with glasses, scars, etc, those are fine as long as it stays as cosmetics only which T17 could monetize

Would love to see more roleplay elements added to the game, being able to drink from a canteen, smoke a cig, eat some rations, etc would be immersive and a much needed roleplay touch to an already pretty immersive shooter.

Which hey on a serious note - IF smoking/drinking would increase op cool down rate, Or reduce garrison spawn timer, supplies and ammo boxes. Then we would see these types of situations in game that we see in the movies 🙂 Imagine coming across a couple of germans smoking cigs and ambushing them 😄 ULTIMATELY it doesnt matter to me WHY or for what reason we see people smoking cigarettes. I just want to see it 😄 I think it would be hilarious yet accurate and immersive. IF it was just an emote I'd be fine with that too. ON THE TOPIC OF EMOTES - I would also like to see the ability to point, salute, hold position, get down, bless yourself etc etc. I play a game called Mordhau as well and people are constantly using voice taunts and emotes and it really just bring the entire game to life. Really cool stuff. You currently see players shaking the mouse up and down or left and right already. So also add some jiggle to movements. Insurgency sandstorm does this really well 🙂

Just add cigarette for the sake of fun and the devs can make a paid dlc for that instead of locking in game features behind paywalls.
I don’t mind pay extra for being able to smoke and drink.
