A lot of the time when you play armor( unless playing with friends or clan members), the spotter role is taken by new players because the more experienced ones take roles that require more experience such as tank driver. If the tank commander for example drives the tank it will be difficult to mark things directly. That is why I propose that the spotter role should have the same markers as leadership roles but it will only be seen by the tank crew and leadership roles that are up to 200m away from the tank. Also these marks will have their standard duration time. This will make tanking with new players a little bit less frustrating while it encourages the the tank commander to be spotter if he has an experienced crew.
#The tank spotter should be able to mark as the other leadership roles.

Being a tank SL is by far the hardest role in a tank. Playing with new players may be tough but being a tank SL it's your job to command them clearly. Having special permissions while in the spotter position won't help in the long turn, and tbf I hardly bealive this will ever take place into the game.
If you know a terrain is hard to go just dont make the new player go there or explain how to get there.
I find your suggestion viable, yet redundant. Communication between squad members is a key and main thing while playing this game. For the scene you are describing, the spotter can always mark his map so that his SL can re-ping to inform SL map.
As above its bout good comms. Driving and marking isn't that hard, spotter pings, commander / driver marks on map. Not that hard tbh and having two squad members marking would / could cause a lot of extra markers which can be a hindrance.
The tank commander should always take spotter otherwise you surrender the effectiveness of communication, as a tank commander its important you take control or else most likely you will have internal fighting between your crew and get shot.
Personally I like my spotter to be distraction free and not look at the map or responding to command chat. Its a personal preference but statistically I do better with this setup.
A lot of comp tank crews that i know of will play driver as SL because it frees up their mental stack and allows the spotter to be really aware.
If you play proper, the tank commander sit on F3. Nothing else’s. Command your crew clearly, then you have more success
Comp tank crews usually run the driver as commander. But you do you.
@shell stag do you think tank crews playing comp run commander as a driver because it's less effective? Like c'mon.
If you are the VC you are supposed to take that spotter position bc ur commander, doesnt matter if new guy doesnt know how to drive thats the point, everyone in the crew needs to be able to learn that billet being a spotter isnt hard but its not effective having a spotter who isnt the vehicle commander
The spotter can ping anything and say on VC what the ping was for, the TC can then mark it on the map even if he's driving; it takes a few seconds to open the map and do that, at most.
I agree that tanking with new players can be frustrating for many reasons, but unless you have a no-mic spotter (why?), being unable to place a mark directly as a non-TC spotter isn't one of them.
Yes shure…. 🙄 Comp players, specially tankers are a absolut minority
There are almost 4000 comp players in the seasonal tournament. Stop saying this you don't know what you are talking about.
Also what does this have to do with the effectiveness of crew positioning?
If tank players that are try harding it to be the most effective usually place their SL in the driver seat how is that 'you are supposed to be in the F3 position' and 'nothing else is effective'.
@shell stag tell me how it is less effective? You are just repeating the same claim without any kind of backing. Also, read above about try hard tank crews. Do you think they haven't tried commander as spotter and found it less effective. Also where does it say in the rules the commander must sit in the spotter seat?
C'mon stop repeating the same rhetoric that you have apparently just made up in your head and think.
Yes it is less effective bc its not your billet thats what “roles” are for in the game
You bring that CoMPlAyeRs thing. HLL has round about 20k active players. So 4K is a minority. Easy to understand. The only guy who have to set marks is the SL. Why should not the Supporter mark things? Or the MG gunner? This suggestion is nonsense.
Did you read what I wrote about comp teams that minimax everything? Like if they find SL as driver is more effective why would you argue with that? They've probably tried all the alternatives. It also could vary per crew.
Also 1/5th is a large minority but this is just semantics.
You can keep saying comp teams are an insignificant portion of the playerbase but that's not the case.
Also, the peak number of HLL players in the last 30 days is 8k so did you just make up the 20k number because you liked it better.
Please don't participate in discussions you don't have the experience to weigh in on.
I dont care about the topic, but 8k is just an average of aktive Player and not the number of players that play the game( not everyone play at the Same time).
@white river where did u got the 20k?
@mellow topaz Ah yes, blah blah along with arrogant behavior. @flat orchid From Steam Charts
Go play Minecraft.
18k is the all time high. All time. Do you know what that means.
Almost 18k were last online in May. I'm right. They have the game and can log in at any time. You're just an uncultured, aggressive know-it-all. Please have the last word. Free! Kido
You are confusing 'active players' with 'all time high'.
All time high does not indicate that there are 20k people that play this game with any frequency, it indicates the most people that were EVER online playing at once.
Also, what does the # of players have to do with where a person is 'most effective' in a tank? This is just the same blueberry dismissal of something they don't have the skillset to participate in.
Well would u put a LVL 1 in an infantry SL position with no military experience,Probably not unless u want ur squad to all leave you its the same as a tank crew, the higher the billet the more experienced the player, VC commands that crew and tells driver and gunner Alert, description,Direction,Range, assignment, and control
This isn't an argument. You are just repeating yourself.
Don’t discuss with him. The time don’t worth it.
This conversation hurts.
Both of your arguments are based on fantasy, and not actual gameplay experience.
#removehllconsole
Dude ur name is literally no more tigers lol, and its not fantasy its a real thing
#RemoveDumbassesOnHll
So, the people I know who have played for hundreds and hundreds of hours typically put the SL in the driver slot because they find it the most effective.
How are you even arguing with that?
What you are saying is something you have made up in your head based of off RL military hierarchies, and not actual game play.
Just stop unless you have a reasonable argument which you haven't produced.
Now we are both repeating ourselves.
#removePeopleWhoKnowNothingAboutTheGameFromFeedbackChannels
#stopRuiningHLL
Could you both just stop? Also could a <@&365680483276816385> close this thread? The conversation is just stupid and meaningless at this point.
yes but maybe add a warning for the tank commander that it is strongly advised to sit in spotter position
Treat each other with a bit more respect, even if you disagree, or else the bot will be summoned....
It was stupid a meaningless the whole time!
People can sit it whatever seat they want and play how it works best for them.
If I've got hundreds of hours in a tank sitting in the driver's seat as an sl why should I be forced to change that dynamic because someone with oodles less experience thinks its 'wrong'?
@fallen bay see above - how about we let people play the game how they like. How about we don't make up rules that really don't improve the game for anyone?
How does locking the SL to the spotter seat make the game better for anyone else?
Like if people want to RP and have that they can. If they want something else they can also do that. And no one dies.
That's why I hate this suggestion.
