Hello im Potok i suggested this idea bedore on the feedback chanel but with its death my idea is gone.
The idea of both openble hatches and mgs on tanks were here fron the begining.
With the openble hatche (wich should come cause I reber like 70 people voting for it) coming to the game the idea of making the Commander more of a intesting part of a tank should be considerd. With mgs the Commander can help and also defender himself from the enemy its also histroical that most not all tanks that are in Hill had mgs most of the sharmans panzer iv panthers tiger etc. The rewcons except the greyhound and the lights tanks except the atuart witch had the m1919. I hope that at some point this fearture will be added. Cheers

the 50 cals on the commanders copula were meant to be used as annoyances to incoming, low flying planes, so idk about that one. But they could add a rear mounted 30 cal to allied tanks, since it seemed common to be used by nearby supporting infantry
Most of the mounted mg were used for low flying planes the mg 34 was specifucly mou Ted on tanks like tiger and panghers cause they were mostly destroyed by rocet planee. We dont have olanes in Hill and the 50 cal is already modeled so I think it would be easier to add
Honestly I want this so bad or just the option to turn out the commander hatch with pistol and smg to deal with satchel gremlins and to get a better point of view would be really nice playing tank commander gets annoying when your so limited on things you can do and since you jump out of the tank in the sane position everytime you always get shot a option like this would be amazing for a 3 man tank crew
We already have turrets on the halftracks, and we all know how hard it s to be effective with it. I dont see why we couldn't do this. It gives the infantry and extra weapon/tool to use. I doubt it would be "OP", plus for balancing reasons they could always limit the amount of ammo to 1-2 cans worth. I think this is a great idea.
Could have a similar feature to the Greyhound / Puma where infantry can access the passenger seats as well as the crew. Except it’s for the 30 / 50 cal machine gun.
This is a good idea, the united states put 50 cals on almost all their vehicles in the war. although the Germans and Soviets didn’t mount nearly as much vehicles with mgs due to having different doctrines. hope this gets implemented tho
Putting an MG on a tank that infantry can use without being able to disable it from inside the tank is a terrible idea because dumb dumbs will get on and give your position away.
This is my biggest concern. The amount of ruined tank battles that could come from this
Why not just have ot be used by the commander then as a tank commander mainly I'd love to actually do stuff other than talk and ping
NEED a 50 on the back of my tank for the randoms to have their rambo moment on
Because the way shooting mechanics and infantry spawns work in game you'd be dead constantly if you're exposed.
We need to be able to pop out of hatches as Commander and Driver.
Exactly dude also even with out a mg on the cupula I'd like to pop out with binoculars or use the smg and handgun gives commander more to do than sit and talk
Driver yes commander, it'd kinda be useless unless you change the bino system
Been waiting for this for a while
One annoying thing I could see is a non-tank crewman (regular infantry) taking over the top MG and giving away your position while trying to eliminate enemy tanks
Could set up an "allow access" type of thing
Here is a middle ground allow the commander to pop out of the top hatch and fire their smg
Enlisted does this very well
And (correct me on this) I think red orchestra does something similar
I think this gives you good amount of protection against infantry while also keeping historical accuracy and balance
Would be nice. And for anyone worried about a random jumping into your tank, im pretty sure you cant enter tanks unless you are apart of a tank squad. Only recon tanks are the exception
Realistic commander sights, I don’t think Germans afaik had 360 periscope on tanks like tigers and panthers. The commander being able to do a 360 in his cupola would be nice also, instead of a fixed view facing forward.
