Yeah it was particularly broken because the middle point was the only fuel resource, so the team without the middle had less access to tanks

Also back then I think the default tank spawns used fuel as well

I did not play the new update but are the night maps very dark and only the flare gun can light up the map or can you still see whats around you without a flare?

Sure, so you basically got place supply crates where your squad leader wants to place garrisons

Or if you want to build defenses you also need supplies

For example your engineer can call you to drop some supplies so then he can build an AT gun

And to place those nodes you need supplies

Nope, we JUST got Update 12. We know that developers are working on Updates 13 and 14 at the moment, and there's 5 months of the year left. I'd like to think sooner than later, if the next update is something like the Flamethrower Update that's mentioned in the 2022 Roadmap.

When you're connected to the internet you're sending and receiving data, in the form of "packets".

If you upload data, and it doesn't all arrive to the destination it's supposed to, it can cause lag/stutter and make playing online games impossible.

Imagine sending a letter in the mail, and not having it arrive where/when it's supposed to.

I think chum is watering it down a bit. Its certainly not the “opposite of hardcore” when compared to other popular FPS.

It’s a tactical shooter. There are some strategy and ‘hardcore-lite’ elements to it. But it’s simple enough when you get the hang of it.

Regulars are usually happy to help and answer questions but there are plenty of videos and guides for the basics. Everything else comes from getting stuck in and dying plenty.

A good SL is worth their weight in gold and should be able to teach you the basics of any role.

Shooting ‘systems’ are only one part of the game though? The game as a whole is more complex than BF or COD.

HLL is the sum of multiple 'meh' things combined.

The sum of its parts makes it more complex, otherwise I wouldn’t find myself in games where it all falls apart because pieces of the puzzle are missing. Team strategy and logistics can win or lose a game.

Supplies + nodes = resources for commander. Building nodes is limited to one role in the squad. Nodes have radial effects on some infantry.

Tweaks could be made to improve, sure, but I’m not sure how much more complex you’re trying to make it and how that makes anything better.

Telling newbies it’s a simple game that’s the opposite of hardcore is an injustice to how the game plays and how it compares to other shooters.

95% of players job per match is to just show up to an objective zone

So you have a game with 1. its shooting is incredibly simplistic and 2. most players aren't interacting with the 'complex' things of the game.

Yet 100% of players are affected by the more complex elements of the game and the majority can contribute to that in some meaningful way. A simple look at how many ways to destroy a tank and how the various roles within a squad can work together.

You say everyone showing up to an objective zone is enough. But that’s not what makes the game good. Those are the average and below-average games.

HLL shines when 95% of the team are doing more than simply showing up. When the puzzle pieces come together and it all ‘works’ as it should. From defences to strategy and comms.

If a newbie wants to experience HLL at its best, there’s more to it than just showing up. Even if that’s where we all start.

What does "seeding" mean?

It's when you take an empty server from 0 people to a self sustaining number of people (40ish+ depends on the server) and most servers will have different rules during seeding such as only fighting for the mid point and no armor/whatever

It's a daily event on every server because most servers don't stay populated throughout the night so they have to be started the next day.
