I wouldn’t/don’t consider someone’s efficacy based on their score or my own, many things that help out the team more than kills don’t award the same amount of points, or the amount of points that they should

Your job is to kill people, you're just playing in a way where your class is arguably more efficient because of the lousy meta the game has.. To me, recon is legitimately the most boring class in the game if I'm not killing people. Don't worry about score, think of the bigger picture. Denying multiple spawns for the enemy team cuts their ability to respond or get to an objective and provides your team with breathing room. Momentarily, anyway, then the airhead goes up and makes it all pointless

Any suggestions on trying to teach new tankers how to drive ? I’ve had difficulty teaching squad mates

Just have them drive around in different tanks on an empty server, no substitute for practice, and then it just comes down to experience knowing what objects you can drive through without clipping.

Tank bible does have a short section on driving

and I'd encourage them to get used to driving and looking at the map frequently to figure out where to go after giving a destination so the spotter isn't having to continuously give direction after direction so they can spend more time looking for threats

If you want an objective reason to understand that medics are bad, they don't get featured in competitive matches like the seasonal, and this is a game that gets no pun intended, gamed to the max to the point of doing things like shooting bazookas at artillery across map to kill people, if medics were good they would be used there.

You also see very little artillery in WOT competitions though they are extremely popular in public matches often making the top 3 on each team obtaining thousands of damage points, you also see different weapons being used in Warzone/multiplayer/zombies /competitions in Cod. Just because one group of players doesn’t use a certain aspect of a game doesn’t mean that it’s bad or ineffective. Right tool for the job sort of thing

This is precisely HLLs overall gameplay issue, match after match after match. Everything comes second to just spawnbombing the oppositions point faster than they spawnbomb yours. There's no natural flow of troop movement because the game allows spawn rules (the lack of restriction to spawning into Enemy Territory, specifically) that falsely inflate soldier presence into areas they didn't rightfully earn. It's become just holding off your objective position until one SL is able to place a spawnpoint, to which the entire team teleports to ground they themselves didn't traverse into.

It makes ZERO sense in the context of WW2 infantry fighting, Rising Storm 2 at least made it semi-plausible by it being the Vietcongs specialty.
In HLL, it's everyones capability, at every time, with no restriction.

When you're doing recon, it's genuinely worth more than the rifle. Death has zero consequence in this game. It's just a minor inconvenience. Spotting and communicating targets is the most tactical thing you can do. Shooting almost doesn't matter.

problem in this game is that bullets spawn from your face, and the camera is located in your chin, so prone makes it nearly impossible to shoot in grass higher than 3 inches.

Tank play is the tightest if you want good team play. Recon is the most tactical, if you know what recon actually means. Everything else is just mindless shooting.

SL's job is make spawn points, called garries. It's how you win the game... the only way to win the game... you will learn to hate it.

But the new players guide is a great resource for the different types of spawns in the game, it may not mention the half track if it hasn't been updated for U10, but it'll cover everything else.

tl;dr is a squad lead (commander, infantry or recon) needs 50 supplies in the blue zone, 100 supplies in the red zone, you can't build them in locked enemy territory (further than 2 grid squares into the red) and you can't build one within 200 meters of another

I think it's the name of the phase when a server owner is actively trying to get their player count high enough that other players will start joining organically. You can be a seeder and help out by joining the server and sitting around. #pc-seeding-help

On console we don't have this problem because we go where we're told

Yes that's exactly it, most servers empty out overnight and then the next day they have to be kick started.

If you join a server and they have seeding rules they should have them listed, they apply until you hit the posted player count, 20v20, 30v30 whatever it is, and whatever restriction there are.

Normally it's things like only fighting over the mid point.

Almost no one will join an empty server but once you get enough bodies in people will just start joining.

Hey all! I have been eyeing this game and I'm really, really interested. I understand that this game is very reliant on great comms, which I think is awesome. However, I've often had the experience that 1) here in Europe there's less comms in many public online games and 2) that console (I play on XSX) also generally have less comms in public multiplayer games. Those might be wrong.

But my question therefore is, how active are the European console HLL community when it comes to comms?

Console in Europe is fine for comms. There will be plenty of occasions where squad or commander chat is silent. Others where it’s a hive of activity. Get used to adding people who are communicative so you can join on them another time. Sometimes you have to be the one talking so others come out of their shell. Even just call outs for infantry. Console can be more casual so some either don’t want to talk, or are up late trying to play but not wake family.

You’ll often find some players work through the squads asking for a mic check to see if others are talking. Also bear in mind comms bugs out often enough, so some players may simply be unable to talk.

There will be times when all comms cuts out. Could be anytime mid-game, could be when switching maps. Can’t speak or hear on any comms channel. Game sounds work fine. For me, a full game restart fixes it. So it’s an annoyance, but not unworkable. Others may have a different experience as to how game-breaking or persistent it is for them.

In my experience it tends to happen on an individual basis, or a small group of individuals. So a squad may have two people unable to use comms or hear others speak even if they were fine on last map. A few times commander or squad comms has disappeared for everyone, but I have not seen that for a long time so I presume it was fixed

I expect so, it has been spoken and complained about extensively on both discord and Reddit. Comms are provided by a third party (Vivox) which I expect only adds to the complexity. I don’t know if there will be a proper fix eventually but it is quite a frustrating bug

Unless you got a squad that has a ton of smokes, you don't. Flank around the open fields using hedgerows, little ditches in the terrain, rivers, trenches etc.

I believe so yes, although I haven’t looked at that recently lol. It’s not a strict rule. Squad leads can use those symbols to say what the squad will primarily be doing, like defending or attacking or support, but they’re not used most of the times

On PC? Not really any new players as we haven't seen any "meaningful" patches in over six months. Probs salty players. Console? Wouldn't doubt new players, they just got a new update and have been gaining traction since it released

You just launch the game and join a server, you can sort off ping and what not, lots of resources pinned in here.

If you join a server with 40+ players that isn't totally full it should fill quickly and then you won't have to wait in a queue

NA servers are generally English, if you're in EU then it'll be a mix, they typically put the language in the server name if it isn't English

You must be phantom, and I told you to stop requesting and you requested about 50 times in a row which means I can't type in text chat, because it swallows any Y and N key presses, and you aren't banned I simply removed you, and this isn't the place for server drama anyway.

We don't have a confirmed date but they've started doing public tests, and based off the last two updates that means that it's likely coming in a matter of weeks, but there's no guarantee of that, but if you haven't played the game at all there's plenty of stuff in it at the moment.

As SL you’re main goal is to build garrisons. For that you’ll need a support player who can drop a 50 supplies crate, enough to build in friendly territory. In enemy territory you’ll need 100 so you ask the support to drop his crate, you place an OP. He redeploys without support role then an other player can spawn as support on your OP to place a second crate. You can build garrisons at 200m from one another, and up to 8 in total for the team. You shouldn’t ever build garrisons inside strong points (they always get destroyed : bombing run, artillery, or even by enemy infantry as the strong point is their main goal). In enemy territory never build garrisons under 150m from the enemy strongpoint or it will get overrun instantly. And that’s all ! Good luck. Remember : build garrisons, that’s the most important thing. At least 3 per match.

Take a moment to look before charging out into an area. Run along fences and hedges instead of across open fields. Check you map to see which way your teammates are facing; this is generally a good indicator where the enemy team is located
