Would it be a good idea is bayonets were introduced to the game? It could drive up the playtime of the rifleman class, it would be historically accurate, and at anytime, you could detach the bayonet use it as a separate melee weapon.

Yo so I am a little confused over something because I have just got the game. So for some reason none of my classes have pistols on them, however my buddies all had them? Is there a way I have to select it or something?

It depends on the class and loadout whether or not they have one

Depends on your region, if you can get into a server with ~40 people on it and it isn't an off time for your region it should fill quickly.

Off hours for any region it's challenging.

If you can find a server during peak hours with at least 20 people, it'll fill within 10-15 minutes, guaranteed.

If you're playing in EU (just a guess based off your language statement), any region will start struggling when it gets late, especially during the week.

You can honestly play this game with like 150-200 ping in other regions and it's not really that bad. The netcode is so poor that you won't even really notice

I got a series s and HLL yesterday. I'm having some major troubles. Every match I've played my game will get to where I'm running around and every other player is carrying on in whatever motion they were doing. I won't realize my game is going to crap until either someone is running straight into a wall and essentially running into place of a machine gun just keeps firing beyond reload. Is this a typical issue on Xbox?

I had my never speed upgraded to 200 up and 10 down this morning. I wonder if that'll help

That sounds like a network issue to me, if you can connect your xbox over a wired connection instead of wireless that would be better.

Lemon, I use the tp-link power line adapters / extended. My series x is in my log cabin at the bottom of my garden, which is at least 70ft from my house so no way running an Ethernet cable that length and outside. By using the power line adapter I can just use the good old plug socket. Base unit indoors which is paired to the adapter in my cabin. I then have an Ethernet cable running from that into my Xbox. I use wi-fi for my Tv for Netflix, etc and my sound bar but gaming using cable in case my wi-fi signal drops. Been using these for years and they work a treat. Always worth a look 🙂

Yeah it happens, always keep an eye on your map and try to plan one step ahead. Sometimes finding yourself in that position can be an advantage because the map conditions are very fluid. So keep an eye on what the best paths to the next capture point/strong point are and you may be able to capitalize on being far out on the map by setting yourself and your squad up at a choke point.

For example if there's a clearing between point 1 and point 2 and that looks like the best way for enemy to drive vehicles or run support up through to the next capture point, and you find a building, maybe set up an outpost around that area and consider setting up if the enemy is on the way forward. You and your squad could then either hold or move on and use that as a rally point so even if you get killed you'll spawn back somewhere that you're likely to have an advantage

I don't expect the next update / patch to actually fix the server latency issues. I've only experienced game breaking latency correction (rubber banding) once in 500+ hours, but that's on Oceania servers, other people's experience may vary.

Hey @livid reef I'm a relatively new player myself and had some of the same reservations before I took the plunge. I think the game can be as complex as you want it to be. If you're not into the building etc you can avoid those roles and play as a combat infantry class. However it is important (and to be honest pretty fun) to be communicative and work with your squad. So running and gunning is an acceptable way to play but you'd be encouraged to do that while following the SL orders

The 🤣 reaction is likely because the game advertises itself as being those things but ultimately it plays as a run and gun shooter for the majority of players.

There is no "RTS style meta" "hardcore" "tactical" etc. Those descriptors might have suited the original vision of HLL but the current game is not that.

Yup. New owners dumbed down too much and left other stuff broken. They got their console cash grab and went on permanent vacation. Some easy meta tweaks but they abandoned any smart improvements. For example: spawn camping HQs like COD? Easy fix: set no-go zones like offensive mode. Lots of watered down silliness to appease the console crowd and grab cash.

Hello, I'm a new player and I saw some footage from the alpha of the game where there seems to be a different mode where every 2X2 square is it's own sector with it's own cap point, like some sort of territorial conquest mode.

Its not T17 that did this. The game changed pretty dramatically from the KS description in the first few updates. Well before T17 got involved. Those issues you are describing have existed since day 1.

You partially correct. Yes, several changes occurred throughout early access and many technical issues never got resolved. Team 17 becomes the new boss and didn't fix anything and has slowed down patches/fixes except for their console side hustle.

Yes, the original design had maps that were 5 x 5 active sectors. They were unfortunately too big for 100 player matches and since then all HLL maps have been 3 x 5. I think it would be cool if they activated all the sectors again like the old mode, but kept the maps at 3 x 5. I think it could work now that we have transport trucks and half-tracks.

For sure. I just don't blame T17 for any of the design choices. BM altered the broad vision of the game early on and T17 has had no impact on that, except for the console focus and change in schedule. My point is "RTS based meta" goes back to the alpha and kick starter and hasn't been an accurate description of the game for a long time.

Very squad based. Takes a combined team effort to win. Officers are responsible for spawns and will micro manage their squad for a number of tasks. It’s best to play a minor role to begin with and join a squad with good comms that follow orders.

Just bought this game yesterday and played a couple of hours last night. Well, I got my ass handed to me alright. Followed a load of teammates around in a squad that were the only ones talking. Played as medic and revived a few people in the thick of the action. Got shot plenty of times from out of nowhere! Next game took a ride in a tank on my own, parked it in the middle of the enemy base and got 6+ kills in a row. Very impressed by this game, the whole feels is awesome, particurlalry storming Omaha beach with smoke grenades going off everywhere. I wasn't expecting the game to be this punishing though for beginners though.

Medic is best played following the majority of your teammates your main focus is to keep everyone alive and pick them back up if they get shot, so that the assault can continue. If your pushing alone as a Medic to get kills then your doing it wrong and should just play Assualt or Rifle man.

If you're asking why the game doesn't have any Nazi insignias right now, I'm not sure. The devs said some time ago they would release an update that would include this content for historical accuracy (while carefully making sure to censor it in countries where it was illegal).

That was 1.5-2 years ago, and we haven't heard much on the subject since.

One thing you ought to know about HLL is how absolutely easy it is to kill (down) targets. The shooting is incredibly simplistic alongside the fact that it usually takes only 1 bullet to down a target, regardless of where your round lands

I can head shot multiple people with a machine gun in a matter of a minute, heads pop up on trench lines, pow! They are dead, even easier when they are rushing points, if you have powerful graphics and good eyes you can see enemies from a great distance. If there's one gun that's great at a distance it's the machine gun. They have very mild bullet drop, you can even utilise an mp40 at range taking pot shots. It depends on your tracking abilities and having a good eye. When I get hit by a gunner, I praise the shot. I've only come across one hacker in this game, who could shoot through walls. He got kicked by admin.

it's kind of all about finding a good squad with a good squad leader who are all communicating. Which is unfortunately fairly rare if you're just joining a random server

It can be like that a good chunk of the time, especially if you drop in the middle of a match on a heavily contested point. As above, communication is key, don't be afraid to ask where you're needed. Personally I've had some great games on random servers. I've found that if you start calling things out and being vocal it can help the rest of the squad follow suit. Failing that watch where everyone else is pointing their guns 😉 hope you find your feet with it

From personal experience: improve by level 20. Really get the hang of things around level 40. Feel pretty confident in just about every role around lvl 75 and ‘good’ at most of it from lvl 100. I’m now lvl 130 and still learn new things often enough. But I have also seen people lvl 100+ getting the basics wrong, so 🤷‍♂️

I would say to try out Tanking. It can help you cool off from getting killed all the time as Infantry and if you find a good group you can really change the Battlefield.
I'm a tank Leader with a friend that's a gunner (we sometimes have to get new guys for driving since some don't listen or just don't want to drive that often).
When we get a tank and everyone listens and follow orders we go entire games without dying and hold back enemy lines.
So I would recommend you trying out some armor, you can always message me if you want some guys to play with.

Sorry to hear this genuinely as I'm having huge fun with it but honestly I'd suggest not worrying too much about how many kills you get. There are so many games where this is rewarded but in my experience HLL isn't one of them. For me, knowing I contributed to the team win and my squad is more important and that is the key to having fun.

My k/D should be negative regularly but I healed 25 people, or was there with supplies when they were needed

Or called out where the enemy was coming in as I caught their bullets

Killing a bunch of people is actively contributing to your team, as capping power is directly tied to how many bodies are still moving on the point/area.

I'm not bothered about kills as such, more I spawn, run for a bit, die and then do it all over again. I try to be active in comms but on xbox people aren't that keen to talk so I guess I'm just frustrated I'm not feeling like I'm doing much and it's a bit boring. I tried support and medic as alternate roles but again was having the same issue. I know you have to be slow etc but then it takes twice as long to travel and still get picked off. I also keep hearing people say hold positions etc but then how on earth do you cap? If you attacking you have to move to cap and then get killed

Some of the best way to play this game as a new player is to grab a squad, pick a square around your defensive objective, (two if you feel generous) and just patrol it, own those squares with your squad. You can keep an eye on the map, ensure a garrison is up, OP is down... the kills and fun will come to you.

artillery doesn't really need a manual, its a case of

-use pings to mark the distance, use artillery pings to let your team know where you're going to shell, announce it in command chat too (you should be officer/tank commander if you're gonna do artillery for access to command chat)
-use either basic mental maths and the table on the left side of the screen or a conversion app to figure out the precise adjustments
-shells take 30 seconds to land
-dont shell near friendlies (as much as this can be an occupational hazard, you do not want to be kicked for teamkills)
-shell enemy garrison pings if there isnt a friendly going to dismantle it
-make heavy use of your map
-shells land in a 25 metre diameter of where you aim them and have a roughly 25 metre blast diameter

Uhh is it a big deal to ask commander for vehicles? Like what's the cost for recon vehicle or supply truck?

No big deal. Recon vehicles and supply trucks are relatively cheap, but your Commander will let you know if you guys are too low on resources. Can't remember the exact cost off the top of my head, lemme see

Supply trucks and recon tanks are both 100 fuel. Light tanks are 150. Mediums are 200. Heavies are 500/600

If you guys have nodes up and the armor squads aren't being complete morons and losing multiple heavies, you should always have enough fuel for recons/trucks

You can build them anywhere in friendly territory where you have 50 supplies.

Best/easiest method though is ask commander for a supply truck at the start (not the first supply truck as that should be used for garrisons), drive to the third row, drop supplies just after the line, walk back across to the second line and build your nodes there

Several of the DLC’s were ditched for console EF launch, statement from HLL is they did not want to be seen as profiting from the update in the current environment. I expect they will return at some point in the future

I want to support the development of the game and get all possible goodies for it.
They are great additions to the game, not too flashy or ridiculous like in Battlefield V.
Playing dress-up is one nice addition to the game.

If you look at it this way, all Military-FPS and Tactical Shooters shouldn't be allowed to profit from the current situation.
And that is - allow me to say it - unnecessary.
War in videogames don't have anything to do with war in real life.
