Where do you shoot a t34 as a PZ4? Ive never wrapped my head around it since I see shots deflect the front plate
I think turrets, tracks and rear.
so the only way to damage it with a medium to the front is a shot to the turret? Usually when shooting the turret is only really disables it first and then it starts to do damage to the hull from my experience
I personally don't know since I don't tank. I've just heard the folks yelling to hit in those locations. Rear though is best against all.

Yeah, I believe so. It's anywhere between 45-90 degrees of the top of my head. If it's over that you're best just penning the side anyway

Question. You can build 8 garrisons in a round right? If the other team destroys a garrison can it be rebuilt or does that mean its lost for the rest of the round

And thats the maximum amount you can have up at any given time, as long as you have the supplies in proximity to build/rebuild

You can have up to 6. If one gets taken down you can build another in its place or wherever there is supplies
Outposts are per squad leader and you can only have one up per squad at any given time

The team can have a maximum of 8 garrisons, one OP per squad (new OP replaces the old OP, the commander and armor squads do not get an OP) and 3 half tracks.

The nodes are the most confusing aspect for me thus far. More in terms of where the best place to build them strategically
So there's two ways you can do nodes, they generate +10 resources/minute regardless of where you place it on the map (in previous updates they used to generate more the further towards the enemy HQ they were but that isn't a thing anymore)
I see most teams@build right at the border of the second/third grid
Build them at the sector line in the home sector, for longevity
Manpower nodes will also make the supply box a support player can drop (5 minute cool down) turn into a 2.5 minute cool down if they enter the yellow circle surrounding a manpower node.
A munitions node does the same for ammo boxes.
Is it smart to build another set on your second strong point too, and then fortify that using the cooldown perks
So you either build them all the way back in the HQ sectors (first two grids) or have them somewhere closer to the front so that people can use the cool downs, but they get instantly destroyed if you lose the territory they're in.
Grab a supply truck, druve across the first sector line, and immediately drop , then go back behind line and builld
So they're much safer back in the HQ rows, you can also not drop supplies (in warfare) in those rows, but you can drive a truck to just barely over the line into the 3rd and drop a supply box and build them back because supplies reach 50 meters.
Its not necessarily safer, but itll be around even when you lose two sector
That's what safer means in this context, you're only losing them due to territory loss if you already lost the match.
It feels like early in the fight most of the fighting is obviously for the strong point in the middle of the map. So to me it makes sense to try and get the cool down perks and then just have your engineers and support guys just build up and fortify the hell out of the strongpoint in the second sector so youāll have a super secure fallback position
Well if you build them literally in the HQ areas people can deploy back there if they want the cool down perks, but most people don't really use the cool downs.
Is that a flawed theory?

U9 -> U10 was kind of a dramatic change for resources and some other stuff.

If you play as the support player and work with the squad and/or rest of the team you can get a lot of stuff done, just be prepared to redeploy out of the role if your box is on cool down and the SL needs supplies.
That makes sense. Support/engineer feels like the initial 5 minutes are crucial

Yeah the longer nodes are up the more resources they'll generate for the match, obviously, so they pay off more the earlier you get them down.

So just be aware that you do have a limit on each thing you can build (you'll see it in the build menu, how many you've built, how many max) and if you exceed that build limit it's going to start replacing old ones you've put down.
Same with mines and such.
but as noted, fortifications can work against you in warfare because you might need to recap a point, but they can also be very helpful.

It's mostly things like barbed wire, don't be fortifying your side of the point for instance (where you would be coming from if you lost the point and had to come from your next point)

Fortifications make more sense on offensive, but they can be really clutch on warfare, like Kursk for instance barricades make a huge difference.

There are calculators that will give you the exact mil distance to a target, but there is a 20 meter CEP.

Somewhere in that 20 meter radius from where you're aiming, could be dead on could be 20 meters in any direction, or anywhere in that circle.
But yes each grid is 200x200m
You look at map and see that your bluerries are pushing an ovjective but they are stuck at a certain line.
That line represents the front line. You offset that line by at least 50 meters and look fir ideal cover, then shell that cover
Aaah so you have to account for error cause the arty isnāt 100% accurate. Gotcha
If you're blind firing artillery you have to account for shell travel time, it's fixed regardless of distance, I think 24ish seconds?

So that area that you were shooting at a second ago that was empty of teammates (taking that 20 meter dispersion into account) might be full of friendlies by the time the shell splashes.
Artillery can also provide smoke cover which is just as good

You can do it yourself you just swap seats.
You can start swapping part of the way through the reload and have it synced up so the shell is in before you swap seats, so you can do it faster.
Which you can do quickly with the F1 F2 keys?
It's a lot faster if you do it with a 2nd person.

Yeah you just swap around, the loader loads obviously, but also makes faster left/right adjustments, the gunner does up/down and can rotate the gun more precisely but it slower and has a max amount it can turn left/right.
You can get a lot of kills with artillery, which can be good but it costs munitions, so it isn't always worth it, either you should be doing something like shelling defensively to keep enemies from being able to travel to attack you, or offensively to keep them from pushing from their spawns to where they're trying to defend.
Depends on the map, a map like Purple Heart Lane is very choke pointy and you can pick very specific spots (like a bridge) and absolutely shut down pushes with it.

Artillery is a slow process, therell be downtime when you shouldnt be firing
But in and of it self killing just to kill doesn't always help the team enough to justify the munitions cost, kills need to support some objective (defending a spawn, helping destroy an enemy spawn, etc.)

Essentially the game boils down to build more, and better spawns than the enemy, and destroy their spawns.
You cap points by having more cap weight (bodies) in the cap zones than the enemy, and you defend points the same way.
You need your spawns so your team has more uptime, and you need to destroy their spawns to reduce the enemy teams putime.
Time your arty to make it count, dont arty enemy strong point if no one is attacking
So where in your guys opinion are the best positions for@spawns? Garrys and halftracks specifically
It's a fixed 2 minutes (in warfare) to cap a sector, you have to have more bodies to cap, and it doesn't cap any faster by having more bodies.
Obviously blue zone garrisons are superior to red zones because they only lock at 15 meters, not 100meters.
So defensively, having a sort of triangle set up around your strong point for garrisons is good, because travel time from any one garrison to the strong point isn't that long.
Building garrisons directly on the strong point is buffoonery (ignoring some edge case stuff like a point that is on map edge with nowhere better to build it) because you're guaranteed to have enemies milling about in the area and they're going to find it immediately.
And it keeps the enemy from targeting one garry and shutting you down cause you can bounce around
Try not to build garrisons that are going to block better garrisons, like a red zone garrison 50 meters into the red is dumb because it's always going to be locked and it's also going to prevent you from building better ones because of the 200 meter blockage.
Ops should go in strong points or just outside, garrisons should be a bit further back
2 or 3 garrisons around a point provides you much better sustainment, if you build a single one on the point it's going to get destroyed and you're not going to have any backup ones close because of the 200 meters.

Garrisons are sturdier than OPs but the spawns are slower (remember that uptime is important) so you want your garrisons a bit further back typically from where you're fighting so they aren't getting destroyed, and OPs (especially because they're free) should be closer.
Especially if you build a red zone garrison since it locks at 100m, you want that further back, and SLs can push off the (hopefully unlocked) red zone garrison and get OPs up closer.
So really the main tactics of this game is organization of spawn points just to blitz the enemy with manpower
It's not really blitzing them with manpower per se, it's having more average uptime than them because your spawns are better so when your guys get killed they can come back quicker.
Since you need more cap weight than them.
And when you say red zone youāre referring to enemy territory right?
If I kill you and you have to travel 200 meters to get back to where you need to be and you're on a 40 second spawn timer, and you kill me and I'm on a 20 second spawn timer and have to travel 50 meters, I'm spending way more time in that area than you are even if we kill each other at an even rate.
Yes red zone = enemy territory, blue zone = friendly.
So you'll hear people say red zone or blue zone garrisons.

People die a lot, so you have a lot of turnover, people dying, respawning, dying, respawning, etc. so spawns are super important, if you have no spawns you're going to get attritted down and start losing the sector because of insufficient cap weight.
If you pull pull up the map at the start of a warfare round and you have 0 garrisons (or even just one) for the team to be attacking from, it shouldn't be a huge surprise when you either lose the middle, or cap the middle but then immediately start losing it.
as long as you build OPs and communicate, you do more good than harm
So you should eventually get to the point where you're able to pull up the map, look at the different objectives, look at your spawns and be able to decide where you should be getting more garrisons up to both put pressure on the enemy but also sustain, and defense is almost all of the time way more important than offense because anytime you lose a sector you just lost (except recon OPs) all of those spawns.
Any decent commander should be able to guide you where to@build all@this?
So spending 5 extra minutes defending your current point instead of attacking (especially if you're already ahead) is incredibly valuable because if you lose that point you just lost everything you would have been attacking with anyway.
So when you're looking at the map to decide where you want to build a garrison you want to look at where your current garrisons are (have to be 200m away), but then when you look at a potential spot, look at a 200m circle around that, would that be blocking a different/better one?
Is it relatively close to where we want people to be? i.e. our defensive point, sometimes building attacking garrisons is bad because people have an inclination to prioritize attacking over defending
If it's say the last 20 minutes of warfare and you hold 4 of the 5 points, and you care about winning you should buckle down and defend.

Someone earlier said if you're playing SL and you're keeping your OPs up you're doing just fine and that's true, and not every SL needs to build garrisons all the time (can only have 8 after all) but every SL should be keeping an eye on that and contributing.
And itās good to hear other peoples general thoughts on strategy. Itāll help me find and destroy enemy opās and garrys now too cause i have an understanding on where to look
It makes you weary when you're the only person on the team doing the logistical burden of building garrisons when everyone should be contributing.
So here's a tip, if you find one garrison make a mental (or drop an actual mark on the map if you're an SL) and now you know there's a pretty high chance that there's another garrison 200 meters out from that one, or a little bit past 200 meters.

and you can look at the map and start narrowing it down, it's probably not in the middle of an open field, it's obviously not off the edge of the map, etc.
Good officers really make or break a team
it's probably not way off in the middle of nowhere near the action, etc. so you can use all of those hints and have a pretty good idea where the next place you should look for an enemy garrison is.
And then the enemy team loses 2 garrisons in 5 minutes or whatever and immediately starts accusing the other team of stream sniping or whatever because people don't realize just how easy it is to find garrisons, especially once you've already found one.

No anyone can destroy a garrison.
In unlocked (all of your territory, and the current sector you can attack [i.e. 400 meters into enemy territory]) an enemy garrison only takes a couple of seconds to disassemble by holding F.
You can also destroy them with satchels or tank explosions
In locked territory (401+ meters into enemy territory) it takes something like 30 seconds.

You can also find VODs of competitive HLL, which a lot of tactics aren't going to translate back to public games that well because they take too much coordination, or aren't fun, but you can surely learn some stuff like good garrison places.
in fact the HLL seasonal starts soon I think.
Plus they record them from the admin cam view which gives you a cool view of the map and what's going on.
Itād be cool just to see like a tactical map of@gameplay and hear a team@communicating so I could get the big@picture

So just remember though, those are all really good teams practicing excellent team work and stuff, some stuff is going to translate back, but some stuff just isn't going to work when playing with random public players.

If you're looking for one tip to make you win more public games of HLL, well I guess two tips, it's focus on building/maintaining defensive garrisons, and know when you should defend, you will see teams commit to cap races that they cannot win every damn game every damn day and multiple times even per round.
If you are already losing your point and you haven't even started capping, and you still think you should continue to attack, you should take a good long think about your life.

Depends on how you feel, the MG42 is nice, the BAR is kind of meh for the MG role if you intend to use it to sit back and shoot at stuff.

They are functionally identical in everything but # of rounds before needing to reload. (MG34 vs 42)
Beyond that, they look and sound different to eachother, so that's something, right?
ROF is higher which makes a difference if you're trying to shoot through something you can't see.

Is it 50 or 100 supplies for a garrison, in the red zones? First 2 red squares into the red.
100, blue zone garrys are 50.
100 meter lockout for red zone garrisons vs I believe the 15? for blue.
I tried dropping more supplies for it to be 100 but the 50 I dropped disappeared! And I was left with only 50. š¤Ø

That's intended behavior, you're only able to drop 1 supply box at a time, any new one you drop replace the old ones.
Meaning the only way to build a red zone garrison is with two separate support people (you can rotate roles within the squad) an air drop or a truck.

Pretty much. What's funny is that all three feedback channels seem to have the same criticisms after a certain point, anyway.
IMO reddit post feedbacks with upvotes carry more weight than discord
Now you're asking the questions we've been asking for a while 
Feedback from all members in the three individual / separate channels is checked daily by both the development teams in Black Matter / Team17. It is compiled and uploaded to a master spreadsheet for comparison purposes by the programmers.
There's also a big difference between reading feedback and agreeing with the conclusions, and then of the subset of feedback that is agreed with has to get worked into the pipeline and there's plenty of in work stuff on the 2022 roadmap

Iāve been here since Kick-starter back in 2017 Testing on both ALPHA / BETA phases of HLL up to release, and NO its not B.S. I can assure you.
I can definitely state that feedback that has been publicly provided such as improving the driving characteristics of the Pz IV during the PTEs for U11 was implemented.
We've complained about how the medium Sherman drives and they did some stuff with that for the P17 PTE.
To put it nicely, a lot of people have some questionable ideas as to what changes should be implemented.
I think they're mostly radio silent on the stuff because publicly acknowledging things, even if you don't state things will definitvely be done, or are in work, etc. get turned into 'promises' and people lose their minds when their pet isue isn't addressed.
I think maybe your feedback channel is mildly less productive than our feedback channel because I generally speaking wouldn't agree with that assessment.
We do get our fair share of garbage though.
We get 4 reactions, a thumbs up thumbs down, a thinking face and a commendation reaction (which seems redundant), I think the rest are locked out

Which new players are not allowed - don't ask me why, the segregation policy in this Discord is ridiclous. the devs from what i can tell never move people out of the "new member" area so i guess you never become an "old member" and the only thing that matters is when you joined the discord, not when you started supporting the game. if you leave the discord after having the "old member" roles, after rejoining you are now a "new member." it's synonymous with the approach to feedback - not giving a shit and never absorbing feedback regardless of your roles.

I started in December. Was really tricky for the first 20 hours or so but when I started to learn more and more I got alot better at the game. Big thing for me was learning how to flank the enemy. Also make sure to play the right roles. Rifleman, auto rifleman and medic( assualt for the germans is wpuld be good too )are what you should stick with until you improve.
Was playing as SL earlier. Couldn't play the whole match but did get a garry down , spotted a tank for my team and got my ops down. I found I managed leading ok but I found it tricky to lead and fight. Any tips for being able to do both well at the same time?

How do you mean? In game you can use (default key binds) C for squad voice chat, V for proximity voice chat and X for command voice chat (if you're an SL)
and I forget the text chat key bindings but you can look them up in the key bindings in the options.

If you meet the minimum specs and want to buy the game you can buy it, set your graphics settings to whatever your minimum desired level that you're happy with are and hop on a server (I'd recommend Stalingrad) and see if you get the performance you like, you can always refund if you don't go past the 2 hour window or whatever it is (double check that).

You as one player cannot, it's not squad limited you can rotate roles within a squad.

No, they generate 10 manpower a minute and they reduce the support role supply box timer from 5 minutes to 2:30 minutes.
Respawn timers are fixed per spawn type, they never change, they're listed in the new players guide (pinned in here).

Also, development takes time, even beyond early access. They are not trying to make YOUR game.. they are trying to focus on features relevant to their vision. It's impossible to make a game that has every single thing their players want.
Catering to players as part of marketing and recapturing sentiments of the 2000s is desired.
Additionally, games are a mind-addling drug in providing entertainment and endorphin hits. This has been exploited by ensuring players will never fully complete a game without grinding to oblivion, or at all.
Additionally, U11 hitching the game's stability and development has led to further polarizing due to the demand for fixes being ASAP, not in months.
It was also similarly fractured in U8 with the node-hopping mechanics being cut down, and the attempt to improve map performance by cutting down on world detail variety among other things in U9.
They've stated their vision multiple times and this game legitimately doesn't reflect almost any of it in its current state.

I liked the game a lot until red garries and airheads were the only way to play
U8 removed an ability to hop between OPs and garrisons to advance the frontline with the aim of preventing surprise garrison spawns.
I play the game a lot more now than I used too, which means itās better now than it used to be, for me anyway.
I uninstalled after the last update, it was crushing how boring it was to me and literally changed nothing about how matches progress in pubs

This is abnormal, but known to occur on a variety of high-end systems, NVIDIA and AMD cards included. Inconsistency in being able to handle the game has been noted.
It depends on map and location on that map. Try and play on Foy and you'll see the fps skyrocket

The Shrek can penetrate the front of the medium US and Soviet tanks and in a very specific spot penetrate the front of the Soviet heavy tank and can penetrate the sides of both US and Soviet heavies
It's better in penetration it still takes the same number of shrek shots to kill stuff as a bazooka

They were way better in U10, you're going to get the taste slapped out of your mouth in U11 by any tank that has a competent spotter and the drivers seat isn't empty

Yeah, I've heard about that, along with the buff to AT guns.
Hilariously recon vehicles are better at fighting AT guns than actual tanks because you can duck/weave easier and fire faster and once a gun starts hitting you in a medium or heavy tank there's a high chance you're dead anyway and the slower reload speed really hampers you

Well you can still do it, TTK is 5 hits to kill a heavy, 4 to kill a medium but you can get the engine in 3 hits each, U10 was a 2 hit TTK on a medium and 3 on a heavy
so if you can get the engine in 3 hits (you do have to hit the engine hitbox of course) in U11 you can still get them, a dead engine is basically a dead tank
U10 was just devastating though you had tanks that couldn't really turn very well (or at all, medium Sherman) in 1st gear and you only had to get hit twice to die
They tightened up how easy it is to do and it's not nearly as viable to roll up behind a tank solo in a recon vehicle unless that tank is also solo or doesn't have a driver, which is how it should be, they were waaaaaaay too good for free or 100 fuel vehicles

It is good but in a different way, you get enough ammo with one life to kill 2 Tigers but you can only penetrate a Tiger or Pz IV (Panther equivalent) from the rear, but you can track a tank from hundreds of meters.
You can also get a Puma from the front and a Luchs from the side.
It's best used like most things in the game in some coordinated fashion, for instance if the German tank can't rotate because it would expose side to an enemy tank you can get a lot done and it doesn't take that many shots to kill the engine on a tank.
Each shot is not much damage but you can't ignore it and you can be getting shot from hundred and hundreds of meters because they have the ammo to walk it in

500m because at least on PC that's where infantry stops rendering and your client has to register a hit to send it to the server
And it won't register hits on infantry that aren't rendering
I believe it counts as an explosive death when you hit people though so they aren't revivable.

I'm not a fan of anything that impacts how a match plays out based on the previous rounds results, it's hard enough to try to keep matches relatively even and not steam rolls as it is, and maps can go on for a long time so there can be a lot of player turn over match to match
For me its better like that, so if your team gets steam rolled on a map you get a buff on the next map

I'd like some sort of team balancing thing, but I would hate to see it until they implement the party system because if I'm playing with friends and the game swaps half of the people in my squad that I'm specifically playing with I'm just leaving the server if I can't swap back or they can't swap over too.
I think it would be cool if you could volunteer yourself to team swap and get yourself added to a queue or something, and people on the other team could indicate they want to swap and then it could do a mass swap at some time, because as it is it's near impossible to try to balance by team swapping when teams are full

It's just a game but in real life a G43 is shooting 7.92x57mm Mauser and a Garand is shooting .30-06 (7.62x63mm) where as .30 Carbine is 7.62x33mm and shoots a lighter bullet than either, it's a lot more comparable to a beefy pistol cartridge than anything else.

Hey everyone, im having an issue with deployment in-game, where the deployment timer will run out then reset.
thats a mechanic, you pick before it runs out
then how do i confirm to deploy

If you're on console you just press a on the one you want before the timer runs out, then it'll automatically spawn you there
the button on the bottom right is the problem, it has a timer that resets when it runs out, i cant click on it.
i click on a deployment zone and then it runs out and resets endlessly, theres no other button i can click on to confirm to deploy. im new, sorry

dude i would never have come to that conclusion on my own, thank you still.
There is one semi obscure bug where you'll lock in and it'll hit 0 and then reset but you can't swap spawn points, but I think that's just you actually missing the deploy timer and it not updating the UI correctly and it should deploy you on the next wave, if you ever see that happen.

Yeah, if you're trying to join a specific server, if you aren't trying to join a specific server if you join one that's between 40-80 you should get in easily but it'll also fill very rapidly typically if it isn't off hours for that region.

alright, I am going to purchase hell let loose, but I have one more quick question, in one of the reviews I read it said that there was quite a few team killers, is that something I would run into a lot, or will I usually not run into them?

Hello I recently got Hell Let Loose as I love war games but it doesn't seem very beginner friendly and i'm finding it quite confusing. When I'm out on the battle field I quite often find myself getting killed out of nowhere, meanwhile I'm actually looking to see if there are enemies in the distance but I never see anyone. Not only that but in general I struggle to locate where I am on the map and which direction the enemies are in.
Canāt find yourself on the map just Ping the ground right infront of you then open the map
What about actually knowing where I should be going and where the enemies are. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if is the trees that are killing me
that and there's also a new pingy indicator when you open the map, but as you learn the maps and know generally where you are based on what you can see it'll get easier
Set Postprocessing Quality to Medium to remove most visibility impediments.
The rest requires inference as to where shots came from, and knowing you can be seen easily from 100-200m away minimum.
If you stick to defense you'll have better luck too, it's easier to see movement .
How many kills do you guys usually get a match?
Itās not uncommon to have a higher death rate to kill count, but youāre doing your part for the overall win. But you still feel immense satisfaction when winning a game!

So garrisons can only be destroyed by AT bazookas, satchels and not grenade? What i am supposed to do if i play as an assault class when i spotted an enemy garrison?
Hold F to Dismantle. Survive.
If you get close to it you'll also lock it so people can't spawn on it, so you can disassemble it.

the browser ping is just a single-packet roundtrip
ingame ping includes the time it takes for the server to crunch the data from 99 other players

Acts as IFF for Supplies. Not so sure about Airheads, but maybe also those.

When you have no binos and you see a box way in the distance you can distinguish between color on the chute easier than the box or slightly different box

Thinking about buying the game, but unsure if it'll really be for me, so hesitant. What made you fall in love with the game? Where does it shine especially bright? What are the things it is unique in (as far as you knbow at least)? And on the flip side, what parts of the game do you personally dislike?
Watch one of the 30min new player guides on YouTube and then decide if you actually want to learn the game or just want a shooter and to get kills. If you just want a shooter to get kills then youāll probably prefer rising storm or insurgency.
The thing is I know I like both run and gun kill farm shooters and strategic methodical shooters. Both have their place imo. And I honestly really like hearing multiple perspectives. And actually watching a video like that right now xD But gotta get as many perspectives as possible. Well, in the methodical shooter in general (no idea if it's really comparable or not) but to pick up the "hierarchy factor" of the game, War of Rights, which i loved, and I rella love Arma 3, even tho i am more than awefull at it, I outright suck, but still enjoy it.
