Not exactly sure why people disagree with you here. If there is an incentive of teaching new players how to place garrisons, it's always going to have a positive outcome. Funnily enough there seems to be some pretty obvious contradictions too, how are you going to justify saying "New players don't know how to play/place OPs/place garrisons" and then tell them "garrisons aren't important, focus on OPs"

OPs are generally more useful and flexible than garrisons but that doesn't mean that nobody should bother with building garrisons, especially considering how easy it is to build a decent one.

My point here is that a lot of times people will recommend that someone not touch Squad Leader becuase "its complicated". And as helpful as a video about SL is its still an 11 minute video with a lot of content in it covering items that don't actually need to be covered for basic play.

Rather than scare someone off get them into the game and get them placing an OP. If they are doing that base level of competency they are better than proably half the SLs in the game. If they are actively placing OPs they will, ideally learn in-game how to place a garrison.

But the OP is that bare minimum and I would far prefer people playing SL do that over not play SL

New player here. Question about driving tanks. Is the game just clunky or what? When I am driving a tank, and finally get some speed and gearing up from 1 to 4, all of a sudden I just lose all power and the tank comes to a stop and I have to down gear and start all over from 1. Does anyone know why this happens? Bug or am I doing something wrong?

possibly doing something wrong, when switching gears you need to have a certain RPM (>25? iirc). But there are sometimes when you go down a hill in a weird way and the game just drops all your speed for no reason and you have to downshift and then shift back up

there are some weird places in the terrain that destroy your speed for some reason, but it shouldn't be happening too much

Just wanted to say that on PS5 if you are holding R2 for gas, then open your map, you will continue to drive until you close your map, then you lose power. I just tried it out in another vehicle. That was my problem with the tank too. So its fine if you dont open your map while driving

Light German tank - the Luchs I believe its called, I think it can damage shermans ONLY from the rear plate. The German recon has a stronger gun in that regard actually, although I know for a fact you can take out heavy shermans from the rear plate

I dont use light German tank due to its gun so I cant confirm my first statement though

Sherman's are not going to be easy for panzer 2 or puma but its possible

It's over 4 full mags direct back to kill a jumbo with the Luchs though

So it's almost not worth it for anything other than infantry or light vehicle support

The puma can viable but it's definitely a glass cannon

Pumas can kill jumbos 2 to 3 shots directly to the back of the tank but its incapable of penetrating at ranges above 10 meters consistently on anything above a medium

Managed to get it sorted. I had the chat settings turned off on the PS5 quick menu. A setting you cannot actually access through the normal audio menu in the settings of the system!
