Look for a squad with a squad lead that speaks. No squad lead -> Don't stay in the squad.
Communicate with your squad using squad comms on C.
Ask as many questions as you can think of when you find a decent squad.

Due to FoV changing level of detail distances, higher fov increases fps a bit.
From an advantage and fps standpoint FoV is 100% your own preferance.

Compared to Battlefield, it's not arcade. Compared to S44, it's arcade. It really just is about the perspective.

Objectively, I'd say that HLL is a nice in-between in regards to arcade shooters like Battlefield or actual mil-sims like S44.

From what I've seen, S44 suffers from the same mentality of "build teamspawn behind enemy and run from A to B". It's less effective than human waves in real life because of how lethal guns are in-game, and bullets are practically infinite. Arcade mechanics like that necessitate either tactics or luck, like having the enemy simply miss 10 times straight.

The in game chart only references every 50 meters I think, many experienced players want more precision in their shells

calculators let you get +-1 meter precision, then you just worry about the 20m dispersion

You want to be at a range where your targets hear the bullets whipping past and the suppression, but not your gun. That way they can’t get your bearing by sound

If your voip shows as "connected", you can hear others, but can't hear hourself in the mic check, then 100% the fault is on the "input devices".

My suggestion is to re-specify the input device in your in-game audio options (right around the place where you test your own mic) as well as setting the "default input device" on windows in windows' audio settings.

I would rather have ergonomics than anything to be honest. I've had several headsets and they've always been uncomfortable or hurt my ears after prolonged use. These ones feel great and have a very good audio quality, the mic is just a perk otherwise I would still be using my desk mic.

Yeah, I need to find a new pair of headphones as well. These current ones were quite expensive, but broke relatively quickly. Then again the usage is insane on them 😄
The number 1 issue I have is the fake leather padding. It always deteriorates making it like fall off in flakes.

I've seen a few headsets with like fabric pads, maybe those will be better? Need to check some reviews and what not.

Currently my headphones are literally held together by instant glue and some random plastic bits I found around the house the moment they first broke 😄

i am playing community servers only but even there without veteran officers is pointless. just quit from a community where we had 3 squads camping HQ after 15 minutes match

A lot will enforce certain rules to keep it as balanced as possible

So definitely check some out, if anything tag along with them

Also if people are HQ camping and it's against the rules (or assistance in general), most will have a function where you type !admin into the in-game text chat "K" and it will ping one of their admins

But just check with the server rules first

Not experienced enough to explain details and classes to you, but as a beginner, I'd advise you to:

-make sure to use your microphone (don't be shy, just talk to your squad mates)
-stick with your squad mates and ask questions if you have any, even in a match
-listen closely to your surroundings
-scan the immediate area before moving
-move only if necessary and after making sure no enemies are nearby
-memorise weapon sounds

Assault, Anti Tank, Support, Machine gunner. All super useful.
AT and Support are 100% required in each infantry squad since they easily can change the outcomes of big fights and or even the entire game at some moments.

Automatic Rifleman and normal rifleman are more fillers, their whole tldr revolves around "go kill stuff".

Engineer's vital at the beginning to build what are known as "nodes", after that it's a niche class to have in a squad. Weapons wise, I'm not a fan, but having another person in the squad with satchel explosives becomes very useful.

Also, you don't really "main" stuff when talking about individual roles of a infantry squad. Most of the time you just take what's needed + a combination of what you like.

People usually "main" different squad types, such as infantry, armor, recon or commander itself.

There's 4 types of locked squads:

1. Clan squad - understandable why they don't take a random unless they don't fill the squad, then they might.
2. Friends squads - Also understandable, although I dislike it when newbies lock them like that, cause then it's not 1 random bozo not knowing what to do, but 4 and they all don't have any outside person to tell them better.
3. Arty or specific task squads - squads that simply don't need more people, such as a solo SL to do arty or be full support making garries.
4. Locked anti-bozo squads - Experience shows that designating your squad with a mic and locking it, makes it so only people with mics request to join. Those, including the ones I make myself on a daily basis, usually accept everyone.
