You'll always die no matter how good you are. Dying is just apart of the game.

Go watch some tutorials on YouTube about the basics of the game, and then just play more. You're level 28. You're still brand new to the game.

i do absolutely horrible every match, but i still enjoy it

like, i get usually around 5 kills 💀

still, the good moments are more memorable

also there are other ways you can be useful and have fun

for example i like being a medic

teammates love and praise you if you do it properly lol

its just great, if you dont want to fight or something

what i recommend is watching guides

overall guide, and class specific ones as well

theres a lot to learn here haha

Your skill will get better over time. The biggest learning curve is getting used to the recoil and aiming mechanics of all the guns as well as reaction to contact. Once you get those down (usually takes a week or two) you’ll do fine. I average about 35-50 kills per game for infantry and around 135 kills for armor.

What is avg for a regular player in HLL kill count per game

20-30 is still insane for a wide map like HLL, its like pubg but with walking speed and tree enemies

A proper avg player probably is 30. A decent public player will start pushing 50 regularly. Avg comp guy probably looks at 75+ minimum. Top tier comp players will be regularly getting 100+ and way beyond it regularly

Honestly aim isn't important in a pub game so much as long as you're not totally inept. Just being able to find action is way way more important to getting higher kills if you're starting off at 20-30 kills in a game

If you're doing necessary tasks you're likely to get ambushed and have less kills overall. Someone has to get those kills, but it doesn't much help an MG if no-one is exploiting his 100 kills. They will just keep coming and overrun the sole MG if no-one else will help him.

From my experience, 10-20% of deaths whilst running from pos. A to pos. B will be like that, but from those percentages, there's like a 80% chance of knowing at least the direction to call it out for your squad or nearby friendlies.

At the start those percentages of not knowing are very high, remember myself being there. But as time goes you will really understanding what are the possible locations the shot came form as well as just spotting enemies in general will improve massively.

Many official servers were full for a couple months with the launch of gamepass and the influx of players though its gone back to normal as the gamepass pop died down

Community servers are better - you can get to vote for maps (or they have a specific rotation) and admins to take care of issue players (assholes, hackers, etc).

Whilst administration on community servers isn't like insane perfect, banned in 1 milisecond. It's still light years better than official servers. Just like in any game that has community servers.
On top of that, there's all the custom plugins. For example like Polarbearr mentioned, there's a votemap plugin that many servers have.

And to even top that, there's also:
Command for quicker redeploying (skips the 10 second punishment by having the server kill you essentially)
Command for checking next map w/o needing to go on a discord or something.
Command for checking rcon stats
Command for seeing who last killed you (for example if you think he was a hacker, you can easily report them to the server admins)
Plugin that awards vip to the rounds best players. (Love this one, have had many times where I stack up the VIP to like 70 days, so I always get on instantly :d)

I'm really enjoying the game and am a few hours in but would really like to play on a unit that actually functions as a unit towards an objective.

My recommendations in achieving that goal:

1. See if any squads have the "mic" symbol next to the squad name in the deploy menu.
2. Before joining check the SL's level. Whilst even some newer SL's speak and do stuff better than no-mic bozos, it's still a decent indication whether or not the squad's worth your time.
3. When you do join, straight up ask if people there are communicative or not.
4. Lead your own squad at some point and force down the basic law of must-having a mic and some coordination. Kick everyone who doesn't follow those 2 basic concepts.
5. If you want reliable and constant good grouping, best idea is to make some buddies that have the same playstyle as you and/or go through the line of clans/other groups. There they usually play together at peak times or at least have some kind of more organized battle day every week.

Yes sir, 300 supplies. It would only ever be empty if someone brought it there empty and left it, which happens

2. After that I recommend checking firewalls (if it's not already in the tech solutions) and your own internet.

Some people have an issue where they can't load into a server and it shoots out an error message that's related to not having the game on a SSD (since u4 really likes loading assets quickly and there's like a timeout set if a person doesn't connect within X period), but in this case that's irrelevant. This is something else.

On top of that you can make nodes as an Engineer, then swap off to Assault. The nodes generate support score passively whilst they not destroyed and all that xp gained will go towards Assault.

It is a grind, 100%. But it's well worth it for the loadouts strength.

The trick is the supplies.

In warfare supports sometimes drop supps in spawn for engies to make nodes or alternatively command can do a supp drop in spawn.
The trucks can only drop 2 rows/columns out, so they drop on the border and then make 1 square back in the first points area.
So if we have rows 1,2,3,4,5 etc.
Then you drop in 3 from the truck on the border, build in row 2

In offensive I can give a general guideline, but don't take it as written in stone, since it's a bit weird.

In any case, the attackers can only build nodes when they've capped 1st point, cause till then they don't have any blue zone to build in.

The defenders however... If they get a truck early, they can even drop supplies in their HQ from the truck. Which is generally advised since engies are lazy mfers and it's also faster. Then they can build a few meters away from spawn.
Do keep in mind when doing that not to block any vehicle spawn positions with the crates, otherwise you'll be griefing your own team. Same with making the nodes in spawn.

Following this up, so if the attackers haven't capped any points yet, but defenders have a commands spawned in supp truck, they can dropp supplies in 1st and 2nd row as well, BUT if the attackers DO have 1st point then I'm a bit 50/50 on the info.
Some times you can still drop in 1st and 2nd, sometimes you can't. Not sure what that part is based off of, but usually by that time there's no need to drop in spawn anymore.

Usually you don't drop for all of them by yourself.
You go in a squad.
So:
1st guy drops, engie starts building.
2nd guy drops
3rd guy drops

By that time SL waits in spawn until the 1:10-0:50 to drive out or worst case scenario goes solo to front line to just drop an OP and everyone spawns on it, since that's literally the same thing.

At least at the start of games, usually you either go 2 engies in the mid spawns supp truck or commander spawns 1 at either side's HQ, to be as far away from last cap as you can be to build 'em. So if last cap is south, you build in north.

Some commanders specifiy where they will spawn and when, others require asking from your SL. Just never write in chat and expect and answer, use the chain of command and if your SL sucks, swap squads.

Also if you lack people with brains you can drop and then swap to engie, whilst 2 teammates drop the other 2 boxes.

In pub games you don't do the support spawn stuff that frequently unless playing with 3-4 buddies you know for a while. It's better just to have the 1 support and make a blue zone garry at the start of the game, better use of time and requires less explanations.

Anti-tank is kind of debatable, since it's simple yet also has a decently high skill ceiling.

But when it comes to any other infantry roles like assault, automatic rifleman, medic, mg, honestly have your pick and just play.

As long as you keep the communication up and ask questions the second you think of them, you're gonna have a great time.

If you can get a sniper role that would be perfect. Besides some specific things, the tldr with them is just "go kill stuff".

However, I might recommend skipping the spotter if you can. It's one of the squad lead positions and has some decently high priority tasks that need to be done. So sometimes if you don't fill the boots correctly, you might get some flak from others, since they'll be trying to pick up the slack.

But, if you keep the comms in command chat good, you can play it as well.

Also in a inf squad, you don't need to play just rifleman. Although it's still effective just as any other class, there are some which might peak your weaponry interest a bit better like automatic rifleman, assault, machine gunner and so forth.

If you want to get kills /and/ carry the team, you can also just grab Support. Although the name sounds like a healer in a mmo, you still have the same killing potential as a rifleman, except can help SL's get garrisons on the map.

Don't need to be sorry about anything, if it's unclear, just ask. Same goes for in-game.

Garrisons are built by infantry and recon squad leads OR the commander.
Doesn't matter who builds it yet one thing stays the same. They need supplies.

For a garrison that's built in blue zone, you need 50 supplies. For red zone garrisons it's 100 supplies.

There's 3 ways of getting supplies.

1. Support role players. They can drop 50 supplies just from their kits. It regenerates over time. If one player has a box already placed and tried placing a new box of supplies, the existing one gets removed.
2. Supply drops. A commander call-in which uses the "munitions" resource (seen above the map or above the scoreboard) which calls in a drop plane. The plane drops a box or tube of supplies (depending on team) which holds 100 supplies. Whilst playing you'll recognize which team's drops are which.
3. Supply trucks. Each supply truck can carry up to 2 boxes at once. Holding right click in the drivers seat drops a box of supplies which has 150 in it. These boxes can be refilled in your hq spawns by the crane. In the warfare gamemode you can only drop supplies from a truck outside the first 2 rows/columns.

Then a SL just takes out his watch and builds it within X radius, providing the entire team with a spawn point.

Later in the 2nd loadout as a support (when you level the role up) you will have the ability to also drop normal and explosive ammunition.
Explosive ammunition is very crucial for other roles to perform to the best of their abilities by providing rockets, satchels, flares etc.

That's why I always try to explain that Support doesn't mean you're dogwater, it means you do the same stuff as everyone else, but on top of it can carry the entire team within the blink of an eye

For the most part, your guys' described voip issues stem from one of the recent updates.
It's mostly affecting xbox players from what I've noticed.

Has something to do with the input device, that's one of the reasons why it works the first time around and then after a map swap or a controllect disconnect/reconnect it stops working.

Game doesn't pick up the input device, but you can still hear all your squad members etc. speaking, since you're connected to voip just fine.

Not sure if you guys can manually enter in a input device, but if you were to be on pc, it would be very easy to re-specify the input and have it all working again even with the bug. Although rn seems like y'all just have to suffer till they decide to fix this blatant issue.

So what you have to do delete your save data only on your system not the internet it'll resync when you get on. Restart your internet whatever system you're using leave it unplugged for a moment after you do a hard reset if possible. Then try sometimes you have to go into the actual audio options and disconnect and reconnect. Make sure you don't have a bunch of stuff plugged in when you reset

Just what you're going to use. I had the same issue for a while after the last update recently cuz I had my streaming cam and my headset plugged in at one time it worked well not so much after that.

Luckily for me I found a loophole what's happening on both plugged in after they fixed stuff

At least on PC, when you go in the audio options and you're connected to the voice server in there. There's a button labeled with like "test voice" or something along those lines.
When you press to test your voice sound, you also have the ability to specify the input and output device. If that's the same case for xbox, that might be a place where you can try and fix it.
If y'all could provide a pic or something of those audio settings in-game, we can check together.

Having played all of 'em, the main difference you'll find between the games is seriousness of them.
Like battlefield is a meme in terms of seriousness. It's a complete rag-tag queue-up system where you just do wherever whatever.
HLL starts to actually require some strategy and communication to be enjoyable and when there is some, it just feels really nice. But it doesn't try to be super realistic or 1:1 with history at all.
Squad 44 is quite more realistic in terms of settings, soldiers and guns. Although I wouldn't say it plays much slower, from what I played it felt nearly the same pace if not a bit quicker.

Arma's a complete garrys-mod type meme unless you play on a event sign-up type basis.

In any case, you can describe as much about the issue as you can.

At least if you're playing on pc (which I'm assuming due to the steam tag), something simple as: "I can hear my teammates, but I can't speak back" usually points towards screwed up input devices either in-game or on windows.
But that's just one of the voip issues people might come across.

So better to give an outline so people can give their fixing attempts.

I've gone thru about 50 different "fixes" by both the community and the developers themselves, nothing seems to help. I'm tired of going on a goose chase to get an advertised part of the game to function.

My game is just stuck on reconnecting forever. I've reinstalled it, purged my file system of anything relating to the game, done all the 9,000 stupid steps that would never actually help in the first place, like the devs repeatedely telling us to update drivers.

I've done everything. Game still refuses to let me use voice chat. Games like this are exceptionally boring without a way to communicate with teammates.

Done all the nonsense with my modem, done all the yadda yadda with my everything. Literally scoured google for fixes, nothing has worked. It's a joke.

Hey recruits! Has anyone spent anytime playing as an engineer yet? I think in my next few games I'll try playing as an engineer. I know the priorities are to build nodes, fortify strong points and set traps, who's had fun/success doing this and has any tips?

Nodes, by far, are the highest priority.
After that you're just like any other soldier going and just killing as many enemies.

Fortifications don't really carry games, but they're niche and sometimes nice to have. But don't OVERLY focus on getting them up.
Best fortification in my opinion are just straight up barbared wires. If you learn the directions from which enemies like to attack, you can really grind them to a halt with just wires and no bunkers or anything like that. Imagine stuff like blocking off roads on Town Center on the Carentan map, that has high usefulness.

If you're playing Offensive you can build-up whatever, but if you're playing Warfare only build up the mid point. Don't waste your time building up 2nd cap, since it's not a winning objective.

When you get satchel kit, you can also just build nodes and then run satchel. Good SL's will appreciate having more AT in a squad.

Had a great game on Utah beach as a support/engineer where we fortified the church and fended off waves of attacking Germans

No, not really. And you place on 4th, not 3rd, because if enemy caps first, they can't access 4th.
9/10 offensive games of defenders are won only because proper garrison placement is done and the garries get actually protected/rebuilt.

The defenses are always just a minor obstacle, since a bombing run takes out the garry and then it's gg for the point anyways.

Sometimes you can’t push out to the fourth objective for whatever reason, usually imminent threat of death

I remember on this match we tried to go for the fourth objective but got pushed back and then started fortifying the church to wade off the enemies counter attacks

All depends on what's first point (and the map) and how easily it can be captured. Beach maps are the worst for first point US offensive, because get tanks and AT guns up there on the ridge... OOO WEEE That's tough.

We built nodes inside the defensive perimeter we established on Utah. One of our man power and fuel nodes was inside the wire at the church.

I built the manpower node and iirc it never went down

It's very situational.

Like after writing that first post, I went in-game and tried to "seriously" play Engineer. I ended up making some crucial barbed wire, but my team was decent enough to never actually need to defend that side due to the fact that we capped 4th and started attacking 5th.

A net of garrisons was more useful than me building up defenses. (which also took a long af time)

Then again if you're playing Foy or Kursk, maybe getting a basic wall or two down might help with just surviving a little, then again those maps are so open that tanks will just splash around them and you're donzo anyways.

1. Have a mic.
2. Communicate. If you don't know something, better to ask the SL's in command chat.
3. Info has to go up the chain, but also down the chain.
   As in you MUST listen to your squad give callouts (assuming their not micless bozos) and mark stuff when needed. But also remove the marks when they're not needed. So if a tank moves on, remove the mark. If a garry that's marked gets destroyed, then remove the mark.
   If a different squad places a garrison mark, mark it with an observe or such and call it to your own squad as well if you're close.

I don't remember if they ever mention it in these videos, but you can see who sees which marks. Just hover over them when they're placed in the map.
Some marks like the "observe" marker are great, since only command and your own unit see them, so you can inform them about tanks or garries other squads mark out w/o having to clutter the map for other SL's.

Eyes on the horizon (don’t just look down your cross hair) look for ANY movement, pops of smoke in the distance indicate enemy shooting or your teammates shooting at something, take your time - there’s no rush / pressure to frag, don’t sprint around aimlessly, stop and have a look around every few moments (especially when you’re in enemy territory) focus more on objectives, what other people in your team are doing and what your squad leader and team is communicating and the kills will come naturally (more and more), expect to die in infantry roles ALOT more than you kill 🙂

@broken sequoia i think my issue is while fighting in the frontline cuz often i'm in a long distance firefight and i can't see them but they can see me and i just try to take a look quickly to then go back to cover but i can't see anything that's something i been dealing but yk this past days i think i have managed to get the hang of it. i got like 6 kills from a long distance :)

Something else is that i don't understand the supplies mechanic and the nodes. i wondered if anyone could explain them to me. i rlly enjoy playing engie and support but idk exactly how supplies work

Get supplies from either air drop from commander, support inf, supply truck.

Stand within 50m of those supplies

Nodes can be built anywhere and generate resources for the commander to use. Typically you want to build them as close to your HQ so no one runs into them (unless enemy recon cares enough to go look for them). People typically build them at the start of the match, swap roles, and enjoy passive XP gained throughout the entire match.

and how do i know i ran out of supplies? i remember i got a teammate to drop their supply crate on my building spot but i couldn't see any amount on the box or anything.

Press T and look towards the supplies. It'll tell you how much you have left

You're gonna want to truck if you want to build serious fortifications around a point.

If you're on the defending team on Offensive, you won't run into any enemies if you're just fortifying a point far behind the frontline

In Warfare, full defensive fortresses are in practice a detriment to your own team more often than not.

Each engineer can only build one of each node. The team as a whole can have at most 3 of each node.

Artillery guns just "exist" in the middle HQ. Anyone can hop them, but generally, it's recommended to solo lock a squad so you can listen in on CMD chat.

Also do the commander a favor and build a set of nodes first because you're gonna be burning through his resources.

There's no mortars in this game.

I think it's a good map, you gotta make sure you control vital points to get the upper hand, mainly the two hill areas in the middle area (the middle point and southern point)

The middle is "fine"

Once you're pushed out of the middle two rows then its just a big wide open field where you're bound to be farmed for the rest of the game by the hills placed there to give the middle objectives that extra spice, which conveniently make the rest of the map one of the most unfun experiences you can have in the entire game.

Like, seriously BM, the one time you're dropping your promise of 1:1 representation, don't also drop the little level design knowledge you had either.

From a gameplay perspective the middle was slightly better than the rest of the map but still suffered from many of the same issues.

Now it's simply alright. I like it.

The added clutter was unnecessary. Now it's harder to drive and easier to sneak around. I'd rather lose fairly from the front than win after having to deal with rats and garry rebuilding all game.

There is zero fun to be had if you're on the losing end unless the team holding middle has two eye patches, one for each eye and their ears in their butts

I never had a problem with advancing towards middle, but I almost always have the same problem regardless of map: people not going wide enough, or not spotting tanks, or not building necessary things. They would rather bash their head against the same wall over and over rather than walk an extra 200 meters. Losing against a team of 3+ tanks coordinating together with infantry is just and exemplary. Winning only tastes sour if you have to build more garris alone than the rest of the team combined.

Just had a match where the german defenders at one point had 4 AT guns and 4 tanks on Windmills. It was a sight to see despite the loss. Especially our IS-1 taking perhaps 15 shots, mostly bouncing off of the turret, before it exploded.
