If you ever need a lot of smoke grenades, or are exclusively fighting close quarters, then sure, you'd be best off swapping (temporarily).

It's all about understanding the flow, where people can be coming for, tracking garrison and outpost placements, and then pushing slowly. It's almost impossible to spot everyone, but you can work on clearing angles strategically

Best is to just play on any community server (like you always should do to begin with) and request to join any squad with more experienced players in it. Generally helps to first throw in chat that you're looking for a squad that can give you some guidance. From experience, plenty will otherwise just reject any low level players.

It's the process of filling up a server with players, usually seeding applies until 25v25 but every server has its own threshold

Generally during seeding tanks, and arty aren't allowed, you are also not allowed to push past midpoint

Obviously check the server rules for the one you're playing

Watch YT videos on different classes. If you're not sure what you're doing, stick to Rifleman and drop ammo when you can, hold defensive points

Huge tip for new players. Don't be so fast to attack until the defensive point is held down. Too many matches are being lost because everyone wants to attack. If you want action and kills defense is just as good. Keep in mind all the new guys on the other team only want to push as well. Likely to get more kills playing defense than offense with that in mind. Most players are more than happy to help you learn. So don't be afraid to use mics. Most lobby's since game pass are filled with mute players and it's taking a huge toll on the game. If your not going to use a mic than at least ping with left on d pad. You can also hold it for a longer lasting ping as well. As well if you take a role try to do your job. Anti tank look for tanks. Support lay down supplies and work with your officer, your crucial to laying down Garrisons. Mg lay down suppressive fire.engineers help build up defensive points even if attacking, as long as supplies are around. Don't play medic for the extra bandages. Play medic to get people up, as well call out there names and let them know your on you way so hopefully they won't let go. And for God's sake don't open a new squad unless you know how to be a officer and are willing to use your mics. Wayyyy too many people playing officer and recon at super low levels. And it severely hurts the team. I know the sniper is tempting. But recons job isn't just to get the kills. Your meant to hunt enemy ops and garrys, as well as keep them off artillery. Spotters let command know troop movement and spot tanks, supply trucks ECT., at least ping it accurately if your able too. As well. Out flank enemy flanks. It wins matches. Watch where there coming from try to sneak back there and take out the spawn if you can. At least get a good flank on their route. For reference I have over 450 hours in game. And never touched a leadership role until the other day, not recon nor officer. I'm still not comfortable playing commander. Best tips I can think of to give.

Also if your parent. Please I am begging you. Keep your kid off the game. They aren't contributing and only team killing. Then get kicked anyway. People try to be friendly. But no one wants to hear a 8 years old peaking the mic out. On top of that don't be afraid to vote to kick. Most of these people deserve it more times than not. And it ruins the whole match when a A hole gets to harass the team cause everyone is afraid to kick for some reason I don't understand. That's everything I can think to add from my time playing. I hope it helps everyone grow and progress so we can get this game back to its glory days.

Hello! I've been playing for about a week now and I'm about level 25. I'm bouncing around classes based on what's needed in the squad and everything but it just feels like it takes so long to level anything up - am I doing something wrong and not doing what I need to be doing or is this just kinda how it is. I've read about rank grinding with building nodes and swapping roles but that seems like a cheap workaround. Does each class get bonuses based on their goal (at for blowing up tanks, ect.)

They do, but if you want fast XP build nodes then just play your normal class, longer matches will net more XP overtime with that

Typically I try to hop in as engineer and build some nodes. Then I swap to a class that is proactive throughout the game e.g. Squad Lead, Anti-Tank that way while the nodes are building passively on my experience I’m still gaining extra by placing outposts or garris or blowing up tanks.

All day had great matches. And Saturday nights a lot of clans play. But this last Sunday it was the best it's been since before gamepass lol but I'd say your on the right track. You can always ask if they have a squad that's communicating and if not next match try to team up. Just click right thumb stick over the squad name to show who's in what squad easily. I didn't know I could do that until way later in my game time. XD

If you're on gamepass, you have to enable crossplay in the game options. If it shows as restricted then -> ⁠#mess-hall message
If you're on steam, make sure you're not launching (public testing) from your library

currently my friend and i run a two man squad. at the start of every game he spawns support, i spawn engineer. we both redeploy until we have all 3 of our nodes up, racking up 6 deaths each. is there a more time efficient way of doing this?

I mean you can have supplies from a supplies truck dropped just past the first two columns or rows(depending on what way the map is - north/south or east/west) and build BEHIND that line(as in the 2nd column or row). You have a 50m range with supplies. This makes it nodes don't go down unless final point loss (and lose the game) or recon/a squad takes them down.

One default spawns mid HQ at beginning of the game but I always ask my SL to ask for another one so that one(default) can be used for building garrisons per SL or commander. If you ask right away I think it can be given immediately. One of the vehicles that are available at beginning of the match to spawn.

Do keep in mind if your buddy does it as well the nodes have to have like 50 or so meters between each node (so a fuel node cannot be next to another fuel node)

Drop your friends, drive down a little bit on that line, drop yours, and build away.

Also return the supply truck to spawn.

I keep this open on a side screen and refer to it. It's actually pretty sick if you have it memorized, you can take a hit that's like, half your engine half your track and know that you just got shot in the back half of your left or right armor by an AT guy

It also talks about things like how angling your tank can help in some situations but be a waste of time in others

Play slower and more deliberately than any other FPS you've played.

Hey brothers in arms. been playing hll for a few months now and love it (sometimes). But I can't seem to get the sound setting to remember my headset type and I have to go into the audio settings and check to reset the type so I can speak and hear through my headset. Is there a way to have the set up locked once I've added it in? Very annoying if I forget to do it each new game and no one can hear me.

games pretty good, if you buy it on pc, play on any of the newcomer servers, try and get people to talk in ur squad, communication and coordination makes the game more fun. I rec auto riflemen over normal riflemen if you've played other shooters, or go medic, people get pissy about medic, but I've had quite a few games only won because a medic was there, rule of thumb, if you have no smoke, the blueberry in the open field isn't worth saving

It's a buzzword used to attract and hopefully recruit new players but in turn replaces and/or scares off more experienced players that you could have learnt from.

There are no weak spots

You either can or cannot pen their armor from your current angle, you can't really aim for specific areas aside from the basic front/side/rear

It's so terrible on forest maps
Especially when you mount on a rock and cannot move your camera at all

The up/down is the biggest thing because it stops you from being able to use it in emergencies (when you lay down on a hill/trench and mount your gun points in the direction of your body and not the way you are looking so you will be aiming at the sky if there is a dirt mound your are trying to prone behind

So basically I want the ability to move the camera up and down as well as bug fixes revolving your camera being locked on medium sized rocks
