I just killed the panther with a 76 by shooting in the mantlet. BUt when I use the medium to hit the other medium in the mantlet, it always ricochets. is this normal behaviour? i want to know if i can destory a tank by shooting the turret

Mantlet is heavy armour on mediums+heavy I think, so only heavy tanks can pen it

But like, just shoot the other bits of the turret

In a medium Vs medium fight or heavy Vs heavy fight, shooting the hull is probably better in 99.9% of scenarios

Yes, it will do hull damage which is the ultimate hp bar, but it's generally more efficient to just pen hull where possible

If the cannon you are using can penetrate the turret, then yes

Damage will prioritise turret health first before doing hull damage.

For example, if you shoot a medium tank in the hull while also in a medium tank, you'll deal 75% hull damage (and so your next shot will kill the tank).

If you shoot the turret and pen, you'll deal just over 75% turret damage, next shot will completely kill the turret and deal just over half hull damage, meaning the next shot will kill

I am not sure if this is the correct channel for this, but I keep getting the error Error 0x887A0006 - HUNG. I will play the game for 20-30 minutes or so just fine, and then out of nowhere, no matter what I do, it crashes with that error, I looked it up and followed the instructions in this guide, but it did nothing, and my PC isn't overheating, its just the game, some help would be much appreciated!

Yes, I played Hell Let Loose over a year ago perfectly, then the VOIP broke, and it only got fixed recently in the new patch, so I have started playing again, the only thing I could have done to effect my GPU (Which is apparently a common factor in the error message I am getting) is undervolting it with MSI Afterburner to prevent overheating which has been a past issue for my PC.

And I am on Windows 10, my GPU is a Geforce RTX 3070.

Nothing stands out to me, but again I am limited in my knowledge of this area.

My only advice would be to see if you can revert your voltage to standard, and if that solves the issue perhaps seek alternative means of cooling.

For the new guys, please understand that this game is essentially all about map control. Control the map via spawn locations (outpost/squad spawn, garrison/team spawn). If the team has no garrisons, it’s like a fire having no oxygen. Likewise, if a team has no defense it’s like a burning building having no Fire Department. The absolute best way to establish a blue-zone garrison is for a support player to drop his supply crate and then his squads officer can place the Garry. This method is faster and more discreet than using a supply truck or airdrop which makes it harder for the enemy to locate. Why is this method the least used in the game? Because this player base in general suffers from severe strategic gaming brain damage. But this condition is a choice, you can choose to rise above and become more than just another drone blueberry. Refuse to be the kind of player who never communicates, only wants to run towards the attack OBJ and for the love of all things good in the world, take some effing responsibility and place your own supply crates and garrisons down without being told to by someone else on your team.

There's a select few servers who do enforce specific languages but they are very clear about it in their server name, in-game messaging and kick reasons.

There is no perfect garrison layout for every strong point because so much affects how it should be done.

Such as the terrain, what is the next point to attack/defend, where in the sector is the point located. Some will say you should always build 100m from the strong point to fit the most in, but in some cases this doesn't work.

In all cases though, you should be building garrisons around the points, and some garrisons can be both defensive and offensive.

I often like a garrison on the strongpoint itself as it makes super clear to the team that if that garrison it hot, locked, or gone, then they should have defended earlier. But the garrisons around outside help your team recapture the sector.

Some people think that this is wrong, It's down to preference there. Just make sure your team has lots of garrisons and you'll be fine

I get that too. Every once in a while (When there are lots of explosions) my FPS tanks to 5 or so for a couple minutes.

Daytime there really isn't any fog, and it's easy to see the top of the hill from 1000m away, and from the top of the hill across the river. Are you sure you're only seeing 500m away?

Quality abusing doesn't remove fog. You can make fog a bit easier to see through with some colour correction and sharpness tweaks but remagen day time isn't generally necessary.

On night time, you generally shoot to marks and pings. So if you have infantry across the river then they can place accurate marks for you to shoot at.

And they were accurately engaging us, even when we moved. It's an armor squad so I don't imagine the are getting accurate pings like that.

They were even aiming for tracks since they were in a light or recon and couldn't pen.

for me, the spotter builds an OP far behind the enemy line, and the main roles are 1) communicating to the team about enemy tanks, trucks, garrisons, supply drops 2) destroying those enemy spawns and sups 3) waiting for friendly commander sup drops 4) flaring and/or reploying to flare a point that your team is losing. The sniper varies, usually its helping the spotter or being annoying, like a fly in front of your face that you can't swat to the enemy team

Depends on your preference really. There's "New Player Friendly" servers where you're more likely to be on the same level as other players, but that often also means it's gonna be very difficult to find any sign of organization in your games.

That being said, if you're looking for organized play, it's always very much hit or miss regardless of server

If you take the Spotter role and at least Mark targets (biggest targets are Tanks & Spawns); your team will thank you and will see you’re helping in some way. They won’t notice how many times you die and they won’t care either honestly. You’re usually deep in Enemy Territory on your own. Don’t try to fight the whole Enemy Defense on your own

Ohh and I usually only shoot at people that are looking at me. If they can’t see me I usually let them pass. Binoculars are your most deadly weapon, so try to keep those in your hands as often as possible

Ever seen those games where people are wondering “How do they know where all our Garrisons are? They must be cheating.” Well, if the enemy commander keeps throwing supplies down from the air, then the Spotter will just walk over there and take it out, lock the garrison or at least mark it for their team.

Pro tip: If you’re destroying one of the Enemy Team’s favorite Garrisons; the Commander will probably try to kill you with a Strafing Run. If you stop holding F and hop off the Garrison for a second or two when you head the plane coming in, you can dodge the Strafe and continue dismantling the Garrison because there’s a 5 second grace period where it’ll save your progress on the dismantling process. Also works if you’re defending yourself

I know I’m about to destroy a valuable Garrison if the Enemy Commander tries to Strafe me. It’s an Honor, really

Medics aren’t honestly all that useful because of unlimited respawns, but they can be very convenient

nodes generate resources for the commander to use abilities, an engineer can only have 1 of each type built at a time, and only 3 of each type can be built per team.

(there are 3 types - munitions, manpower, and fuel, you can see the amount your team currently has at the top of the map)

side information - each team has a base resource gain of +30/min, each node increases that by +10 for each resource. So a team can have a max +60/min.

They're usually best built in the HQ sectors (first two rows or columns where your HQ spawns are), as this way they'll never be automatically destroyed if you lose a sector. Manpower nodes are the only slight exception to that, as they decrease the replenish time of a support players supplies by half, which is situationally useful. But best bet is to build them in the HQ sectors.

The most common thing to do is to take a supply truck and drop the supplies just over the HQ sector line, as you can't drop them within the HQ sector, and then cross back over into the HQ sector to build them.

Hi there! Just purchased the game and im really really in to learning it , I attempted to play on a random server but got killed like a lot and was not of much help , any recomendation on the graphic settings and all?

There's not much tweaking to do settings wise, just find a balance really. One thing I found that helped me out is setting my settings to medium, brightness at 120 for day maps, 200 for night maps, and having anti-aliasing set to clarity. Also some tips, make sure you slow down, don't sprint around more than you need to and to hold positions on corners and also check every angle. It takes time to get used to everything but that's part of the experience. Eventually with enough playtime enemies become a lot more predictable and visible. Just keep having fun and you'll pick it up.

It also helps to turn off motion blur and depth fov settings. Much of spotting players is moving slow and being cautious if you don’t actively know where they are. Staying low and observing for movement in distance helps a lot. If the situation is pretty dicey, sometimes you want to stay still and silent to listen for footsteps, reloads, gunshots, close by. Look for where your teammates are looking on the map to get a general idea of where they might be and what they might be trying to do.

Also since your new, don’t be afraid to be a squad leader after you’ve tried some of the roles. It’s really not as difficult as people make it out to be. Your just putting down outpost for your squad to spawn on and using your map to mark things for your guys to see. Call for help when needed or if you see armor/enemy spawns. The rest falls into place with play time. That was the first role I ended up maxing rank on.

Situationally defending garrisons is important, but only if there’s a current threat to them (if highlighted red or locked). Your best two plays as a machine gunner is to either defend the active strongpoint or to be pushing with your squad, but make sure you’re not pushing alone.

Either machine gunner or engineer are probably the best for playing defence.

Maybe its 80 hours, maybe its more. However, that's just hours within that one class, and fighting for a slot for a game in a squad. If I'm actually playing with other classes, while playing for fun, it'd be multiples of 80hrs before I reach total 80 for just support.

And so, it becomes a trade off. Do I want to play and have fun, but log enough hours by the time I get it that it risks making the game overall not enjoyable regardless? Or do I effectively grind 80 hours straight to remove the barrier to a feature for a specific class, and avoid the feelings of missed opportunity everytime I play another class instead?

In any relatively balanced progression system, there's other stuff to do while getting to a goal to blunt the sense of fomo. For this, the combination of factors turn it into grind or fomo, as soon as the reality of the system sinks in.

Good evening, any tips on how to find an enemy spawn point? and how to destroy them? never came across one so far

hello guys. new to this game im about level 25 . trying to find a good group of guys to squad up with that are going to actually communicate and use team work.

Garrison can spawn whole team. Looks like a table with stuff on it. Dismantle by hand or with heavy explosives (rocket / satchel).

Outpost can spawn a single squad. Looks like a small rectangular radio on the ground. Dismantle by going very close to it (your presence destroys it).

Both types of spawn make radio chatter noise and text will flash up on your screen if you destroy either.

How to find them? There are obvious places on some maps, but you just generally follow the waves of enemies back towards their source. Like an ant trail. If you’re fighting someone they must have come from somewhere.

Hi all! Does anyone have or know of any map-specific guides? i.e. if attacking Mont Halais from Town Center on Carentan, the best approach might be this or that etc. Or good spots for Garries, Engineer defence etc.

If I recall correctly they will remain until you exceed your limit, at which point the first placed / oldest will be removed if not already detonated by another means.

While OPs can be basically anywhere, there's two key principles when building garrisons;

• They have to be at least 200m apart.
• Garrisons in locked territory do not get destroyed if you lose the contested territory and take longer to dismantle.

As a result, garrisons are often built on the edge of locked territory (behind blue and red lines). You often see them directly on the strongpoint too (though not always, depending on what is convenient). With garrisons needing to be 200m apart, depending on the map, you can quite easily defer where garrisons are likely to be, considering you don't want to build one in the middle of the open.

Below is just an example of where you may commonly find garrisons. Of course, they're not restricted to these positions. After all, a bad garrison is better than none.

(Also, note that a bunch of these marked positions do not apply to this specific setup of objectives. A garrison on the northern edge of the map is largely useless when you're fighting over the middle point)

Add to this the basic fact that people tend to run in a straight line from a garrison to the nearest objective, and you can make a pretty educated guess as to where garrisons are.

Manpower nodes at the front are heavily underutilized and underappreciated. A support using one will have more supplies than he can get users for. It's more effective than supply drops or trucks if players just want to utilize it.

people complain about nodes but refuse to utilize them, smh. Same with the munitions node, you could launch rockets (and flares) indefinitely towards the enemy point if you had supports dropping explosives every 150 seconds.

150 seconds goes by pretty fast when you're reloading, shooting and resupplying rockets. Just 4 boxes would be a near constant stream. And that's from only 2 squads, 1 box from support and 1 from rifleman.

Is it worth the extra effort though? Do you really need that many supplies? Just as easy to swap roles or get a 2nd support.

It's underutilized (as in, it never gets utilized). But underrated? Not really

With machine gunner, ive been planting myself somewhere at the biggest cluster of friendlys and just holding ground until i notice everyones pushed up, then i hold for a little longer just in case and push up to the cluster and do it again.

150 seconds is short, but not too short to patrol around the point. Swapping between 2 players and you're wasting 40 seconds in death, and the eyes around the spawns. And you still need hammers to build stuff.

Hard to really say when you're being effective since there's no metrics for suppression. I know a lot of fantastic MG players who'd sit far back on an elevated position and snipe people hundreds of meters away. Super effective, but the number of positions for that has drastically decreased now that a lot of roofs have become inaccessible.

Get high ground that covers obvious approaches for the enemy. Brrrrt away at people with the purpose of killing them. If you see them running through smoke or whatever then brrrrrrrrrrt. Never brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.

MGs are easiest to use defensively.

Hey everyone, newbie here. Read and watched a lot of good things about HLL, joined a game yesterday and was rejected when asking to join numerous squads and then ended up being group leader in my own one with other people joining which is completely wasted on my ability and experience at this moment. Is this the norm?

Proper smoothbrain thing happening a lot now is new players not actually wanting to play in a squad with strangers so they have a locked squad with thier mate and then just be a useless 2 man locked squad

only ever gets to experiance 10-20 minutes games and gets slapped around

me and my friends are level 200+, we are sick and tired of people not coming along with the team to defend and just endlessly running into the attack to die, not using a microphone or text chat, and generally just being a nuisance to the team,

now if there is only 3 of us on we will sometimes lock a squad as we don't want to play with these people, we are still in communication with command chat,text chat and proxy, nothing wrong with what we are doing just sick and tired of morons

Just join a squad. Learn the roles if you haven’t already. Working and moving together as a unit makes a major difference compared to doing your own thing. Once you increase rank on squad roles and unlock load outs. The roles slightly change depending on the situations. let your guys know if your new too. I’ve never ran into anyone not willing to help out. Like if your using AT. They might give you pointers on where to hit the tanks, etc.

It happens quite a bit at times. I see it a lot more on the consoles than pc. In that situation, don’t be afraid to be a squad leader. Even if your new. Just let your guys know and 90% of the time, they will just ask you to place and outpost down whenever you get a significant distance from a garrison. Listen to command chat if it’s there to help get field awareness and decide if your attacking or defending (or whichever directed to by command).

The rest is just earning your stripes and try to move with your guys where you feel you might be effective.

Support is pretty simple and very useful. However it’s one that isn’t used as effectively as it should. Use the supply boxes to aid in building nodes, defenses on points, and garrisons when in the your blue territory.

The advance tactic, is to do what is called hot swapping. Place a supply box down in enemy territory and then switch the role with someone else so they can place down a box also. That gives your squad leader 100 supply and ability to build a garrison inside the enemy territory. It’s great for flanking and not giving away your position from commander parachute drops.

If you unlock the second kit, you get ammo and explosive boxes in addition to the supply box. Explosive boxes are important for AT rockets refills and grenades/flares.

I also enjoy properly playing the game and not having to deal with unnecessary disturbances like people spawning on my OP and remaining in close proximity whilst making a lot of noise. Truth is, in most games I perform better as a solo squad than some absolute random 6 man squad (and I mean that literally as in higher CE / kills than those 6 combined) and taking on those guys actually weakens my performance (absolute bad comms, losing OP for no reason, asking me for guidance every 30s, etc etc).

The average player in HLL is not competitive, does not care too much about the outcome and just wants to enjoy themselves and have some small talk. By any means, that is perfectly fine and I salute you for being able to do so, but that simply doesn't fit "my game".

Looking at the "Suggestions" section as well as recent patch notes, there is no change in sight but only an ever increasing gap.

If you however have the right clan tag, I personally don't even mind because all the earlier issues do not exist.

For some random blueberry with his closed 2 man squad and combined level 50: let's be honest, do you really want to play with them? Why do you want to force people into something they don't enjoy to begin with.

If you want to make a change, go play public, open a squad and teach guys how to play properly, do some educational content on YT etc etc. I'm quite positive that you see arguing on this forum as a valid form of "doing something" whilst it actually achieves nothing.

Hi! New here. Haven't got HLL yet... but I have watched a ton of content on the youtooob and I am almost ready to dive in. I honestly have been away from titles such as this for a long time... but I do love this era and ww2 history and I like the concept of this one - cooperative tactics and not just a run and gun type affair. My main concerns are 1.) well... I'm new. I'm gonna make mistakes. I'm ready to go at this properly and slowly, but just don't want to make too many people irritated when I constantly get myself killed for the first many hours. 2.) a little scared of all the hours of my life that are going to go away as I get sucked into this 🤣

Anyway, glad to be here and hopefully will see some of you out there once I pick this up on Steam!

Welcome! Familiar with alot what you say! Once you past your first two-three matches, it's to late and you need to work with your addiction, I'm damaged and snitch myself to play even when at work... Exhausting, but I love it;-)

1. Make sure you join up in a squad where you see ppl are high ranked. 100+. And start up with assault or medic until you understand and feel the gameplay and basic tactics.
   Ask questions, people love to help us newbies like me and you. If your squad don't talk, change squad. I feel talking is a must for most value and fun. Good luck and happy garrison hunting

im sorry but there is NO good reason for any of this, people play hundred/thousands of hours on these games. the only good reason is just proving their are losers who prefer using cheats, filters, and trickery to gain an avantage over others
