Sure, they can walk back, but if they know theyâll be swiftly hunted whenever theyâre deep in enemy territory theyâll either give up or spend the whole game being in effective.
The beauty of the recon tank is they canât kill it and itâs quick. Covers a lot of ground. Perfect for spawn and airhead hunting.

Infantry can only travel so far vs a mobile recon tank. Itâs not moving to any significant degree. Recon tank has decent range on firepower too. Keeping those spawns coming and homing in on the OP.

Realistically it is 6-8 weeks away if you look at the pattern from the last update where they also said the first PTE was 'much earlier' in the process, but there's no guarantee it isn't sooner, or later
They were releasing / running the first PTE (public testing) on 10th. Not pushing out the actual update.

Because the Devs wanted to provide variety I'd imagine. But also that loadout comes with a satchel which is a big explosive.

Support gets a box that you can place on the ground with 50 supplies, those supplies can be used for anything within a 50 meter radius of the box, for instance a garrison, nodes, other buildables, etc.
The box recharges after placement every 5 minutes, or if you move through the yellow circle you see on the map around a manpower node it will recharge in 2.5 minutes, if you place a box and then place another box before the old one is used it will replace the old one
So you can use them for whatever, but garrisons are the most impactful thing so you should be prepared to follow the SL or spawn on the OP as requested to drop a box.
So squad leaders needs support to build garry in the first place?
Correct, it's 50 supplies in friendly (blue) territory, or 100 in red territory, OPs are free to place but garrisons (team wide spawn) require supplies.
Especially at the beginning of the game it's really important, but garrison upkeep (building and defending them) is a match long requirement, support is very useful because it's free (no supply truck or commander supply drop required) and it's also more stealthy.

Only if there's supplies within 50 meters of where they're trying to build them, and also a garrison can't be placed if there is another garrison within 200 meters, or in locked enemy territory, so keep that in mind when dropping supplies.

I mainly use the second loadout in offensive or when defending a point with enough cover. In open fields or when attacking the first one is better. Also with the second one you can drop medical supplies, which are quite helpful if somebody has no badages anymore, though this is fairly rare.
Also note that medics are often overlooked while operating behind the lines, although they are very helpful when your op is still in the hardcap or so
I feel like on a map like Kursk, yes, 2nd load out medic would be really for crossing the fields.

I wouldnât know myself and itâs probably not perfectly replicated in-game buts itâs not unreasonable to be included.
If the soundscape was really realistic, then maybe. When I shot an MG at 150 yards at metal targets, wearing earpro, I definitely couldn't hear any hits. And I dont think that I would've heard anything without earpro.

Panthers are currently op because they cost the same as other heavies but have vastly superior stats

After 100 hours of playing Hell Let Loose I can happily say that this game gave me PTSD due to seeing my teammates get blown up into pieces, hear MG42 fire over my head and witnessing how my squad was wiped in a matter of seconds after I told them a joke that it was awfully quiet today

In general, I'll play in all of the servers as long as I don't reach more than 400 ping, because the game will kick me out the match

I'm sure you could see how the entirety of Stalingrad wouldn't work as a HLL map. Too few players for too much land to cover. So they chose some iconic landmarks like Pavlov's House and put together a map from a section of Stalingrad.
And it's a fine map, though I don't prefer to tank on it. That's what Kharkov is coming out for.
The devs didn't choose landmarks and put them together for a map. They chose a legitimate section of the Stalingrad map and copied it almost 1 to 1

They chose Pavlov's house, and then marked out a 1.4km square area around it. I think that's how large the HLL maps are, right?
Well you get what I mean, they chose that side of Stalingrad due to it's iconic landmarks.
If anyone here plays GoH and plays the skirmishes the stalingrad skirmish takes place on the same section of the map HLL does which is pretty neat

hello. I decided to poke my head in and get a feeling of the community since Humble Choice this month has HLL as an option and I've heard good things of the game. Now, I have a problem: I'm abysmal at shooters. I'm prone to panicking. My cerebral palsy induced spasticity (meaning involuntary muscle tension) leads to my left hand occasionally cramping on WASD or my aiming suffering. I struggle with situational awareness and fail to notice potential and actual enemy locations before I get shot, and even when I do get eyes on an enemy, I'm more likely to miss than not when trying to get a bead on a moving target, or having to give an accurate reflex shot (when, for instance, an enemy rounds a corner right up to my face)
This being said, I love the idea of this game. I would like to learn this game, and eventually I would like to reach a position where I might be able to direct some tactical maneuvers since strategy and tactics is close to my heart.
What would you say to a person like myself?

Spawn points are an important part of the game, you can influence matches without shooting people
You can also play roles like the tank spotter where you don't ever need to wasd
Thereâs also backline roles where itâs less likely (but still possible) to fight other players like support and engineer, or playing artillery.
I do also kind of want to improve in actual fighting too
You could pick a role like machine gunner, you still get a lot of action but youâre job is mostly to suppress the enemy rather than face them right in front of each other. You can also practice team play and strategy by working with youâre squad to decide where you position yourself and such.
how could I move towards becoming a decent bolt action rifleman? Cause honestly I'm most likely more than happy with that, judging from my experience in red orchestra 2
TTK is very low (most of the time a single bullet) in this game, if you have physical limitations I'd just use classes that get a semi or auto gun

Because the enemy is going to be killing you quickly and missing a single shot with a low rate of fire gun is punishing

Don't play on the official servers they're unmoderated, beyond that it doesn't matter much. The new players guide is pinned in here you should read that before playing a match

Anything with a low ping should be fine, it can be tough to get into a full server but if you find some that has 40-80 people it should fill quickly if it isn't the middle of the night for that region
If you panic, i have a great solution. I got a jump scared multiple times in an urban combat and entire battlefield was brutal but no direct fighting, just small packs of soldiers flanking each other and meeting randomly in streets. So i decided to play auto rifleman with stg44. If you see enemy, so prone and spray everything. City maps can be extremely stressful at times
Prone is greatest way to avoid enemy in long distance and ambush in urban area
I know where you're coming from here because I find bolt action weapons more calming/sobering as well. A faster rate of fire carbine just ends up not being as helpful as it sounds

There is no benefit to using bolt action rifles in HLL, like there was in RO2. maul bolting is not faster, there is no mag/ammo tracking, very low recoil and very high damage on all guns. Other than playing bolt actions for the feel, there is nothing you can do to use them better than a semiauto.
It would be awesome if squad size was 12 so automatic weapon will be limited.
It would be better and easier if they just removed the automatic loadouts from the utility classes
or focused on better gunplay and damage model to make bolts more useful

I believe it was somewhat used until mid 1942 by normal infantry but it was still used up until 1944 with grenadiers because the M1 Garand didnât get a grenade rifle attachment until mid war. Also apparently G.I.s proffered the Springfield over the Garand as a rifle grenade because it was easier to load blanks
There were still 1903s in use at Normandy. Platoon grenadiers had them, MP platoons had them, ofc Snipers had them.
The M7 rifle grenade launcher was issued in large numbers for the Normandy invasion, but it didnât completely replace the M1 launcher till post war

If you want to be historically accurate a tiger and panther should be able to one shot a Sherman. And no Sherman other then the easy 8 should be able to penetrate a tiger or panther. Also light tanks shouldnât be able to destroy a tiger from the back. Shooting a tank in back also doesnât cause the tank to just poof into a explosion, shooting a tank in the back with at most likely wouldnât even harm the crew but just knock the engine out or start a fire. And then ontop of that the bazooka had varying opinions on whether it was actually effective or not, angling and distance caused a lot of bazookas to ricochet

In the Pacific a great majority of marines were still arnred with the m1903, in the start of the entry of American in tunisia about 50/50 of all front line units were equipped with both the m1903 and m1, and by Normandy it was either a nonfrontline weapon and sinper
But most phased out wouldn't be wrong in 1939 with the rather small size of the us army at that time

Currently the Easy 8 is the only US tank to penetrate Panthers & Tigers from the front, save from cheek shots, in which both the medium Sherman and Jumbo 75 can penetrate the Panther.
I don't agree with removing the ability of lights & recons to destroy enemy heavies. There's plenty of historical accounts of light and recon tanks being used as ambush tank hunters, so while in a more simulation driven model, lights and recons couldn't destroy Tigers & Panthers from range, they could still do so in close range.

Tigers electronical wiring would often start fires even when non penetrating hits were scored
The t34 drivers vision was incredibly crap compared to other tanks
Kv 1s had issues with tracks snapping on tight turns at low speeds
Pathers had very bad outward tactical vision and the gearbox was also over burden by 13 tons
The sherman tanks were very vulnerable to track damage from just about any explosive
Puma armoured cars could be penned by the .50 in all but the thickist parts of the armour
So as far as I understand it, the Jumbo 76 in the game is modelled off of the Easy 8 (hence the muzzlebreak, which the Jumbo 76 variant did not have). Yet this tank in game retains the armor profile of a Jumbo, not an Easy 8. It's essentially a Frankenstein tank.

They didn't have internal comm systems for most of the early war, so they'd have their feet sitting on the driver's shoulder. If they wanted to head left, they'd push down the driver's left shoulder, and to the right, the right shoulder. Any server is fine, avoid official servers as they're unmoderated, read the pinned new players guide before playing a match

If you're having trouble getting into a server because of the queue, any server with 40+ people that isn't at an off time for its region should fill quickly
And the warm up time at the start of a match isn't the kind that resets the game so don't TK people during it

Support is the friend of everyone. Second loadout gets ammo and explosives too. Engineers, AT and officers like you very much, just ask if they need any. If the AT has an AT-gun, you can blow up any enemy tank easily if you load for him

Points aren't really necessarily very indicative of what matters though, which is building defending and destroying spawns and being in cap zones

How good is the nagant revolver?
Quite possibly the worst gun in the game tbh. Sights are atrocious, reload is extremely long and it still takes 2 shots to kill someone compared to other pistols that at least have decent sights/good reload time.

Just carry on with it. You can't do anything better than learn about new spawnpoint placements, effective short communication etc
If you have friends in you squad you can start with basic infantry tactics
Negative is a amazing gun that shines more when you have the drop on the enemy, sure its a two shot but its accuracy is better then the others

Why OPs are so underutilized or put on the backburner, I'll never understand. SLs will go on about attempting to attack an objective without it ever crossing his mind to put an OP down first. And it's definitely not a "new" player issue either

Gotta say if you're a player with experience, the bonus tip in the 3rd section is something you should listen to. The whole squad baiting where people will create a squad to rejoin is one of those things that admins should keep an eye on when a game is just starting. So many games lost because there's 3 full squads with no leader. đ
Look at your map to see where infantry markers are, nag your teammates to ping enemies (it's like pulling teeth sometimes), move less and cling to cover, constantly scan areas. Generally if it moves and it doesn't have blue dot above it, shoot it
Hang with your teammates, listen to where shots are coming from, and cling to cover like velcro
Some "upgraded" loadouts are just straight up worse

Sound is your best friend. When you hear a shot, get into cover and look in the direction you heard the shot from
As long as you move while looking. Often enough I miss my first shot, but when they prone and stop moving it's all the easier.
If someone is shooting at you yeah, keep running - you wonât magically disappear just because you prone instantly
But yeah, sound is your best friend. That berm wont help you much if you're on the wrong side
Odds are though, that if you are walking through heavy forest/rocky terrain and getting shot at suddenly, youâll die before ever seeing where the guy was
HLL is one of the few games where stopping to look and listen every 15 seconds is a very good idea

Thereâs been a few games Iâve had on hurtgen where I just ads and move forwards through the trees
Hill 400, HĂŒrtgen and Foy (forest) are very good examples of it
Spacing as well. In a forest, if you're 50m away from your mate and he gets shot from his front, you're likely to be about 45 degrees to the side of the enemy where he cant see you as well. Or even if he does, the cover he is using may not cover him at that angle. Lines are used in warfare for good reason.
Stationary targets within foilage rendering distance and in urban are near impossible to spot bar muzzle flashes and wrong camo choice

HLL players typically choose the fastest route to an objective, and most also hog the outer parts of it
Those that donât, disperse along the wider perimiter - meaning that no angle is âsafeâ

Sure, but often enough you find gaps in the enemy line. It's very rare to see a line stretching from map edge to the other, without gaps. And in a foresty map, the line needs to be so dense that there's simply not enough players for it.
So eventually, someone finds a gap to exploit.

My rule of thumb is one squad for one map grid. Even that can be too dense, depending on the map
Of course, if both teams are evenly dispersed along a wide line and suddenly the other decides to spawn for a frontal charge, it wont last long and the flanks take time to reconvene, wondering where the enemy went

Well I said that such long lines rarely happen, and I dont think they happened much in my comp games either. 400-600m lines are more common

I'm not, I see those lines happen often enough and it supports itself. Y'all underestimate how devastating crossfire is.
I dont mean that it's a coordinated thing at all, it just happens on it's own because it's the path of least resistance. Or least annoyance for those officers who dont want to butt heads and die all the time.

Looking in the channel Tuomainen has mentioned above is a good way to find clans to play with. Alternatively you can jump in game and look at the servers in your region that you will likely play on.

For a long time now, objectives have not given any resources when captured (which is how it used to work @gilded idol).
Even so, resource icons have stayed on map assets for both old and new maps.
I can only guess two reasons
- consistency in map design
- Leaves the door open to changing resource generation in future if devs choose, without needing to make changes to map art

You should read the new players guide pinned in here, warfare can be between 12 minutes to 90, offensive between 30 and 2.5 hours.
12s just a rough estimate it can be very quick if the teams bad.
For my opinion.
Going medic is not that bad.
Especially hearing your teammates shout for you.
Then again..
It's medic. It's a hard role to maintain even as a newbie.

Spawns and having players in the cap zones are the most important aspects of the game.

Nope, check out that new players guide that is pinned in here it is a short read.
Squad leads and the commander can build team wide spawns, the support class can help with that
You win by capping points, you cap points by having more people in the cap sector, you have more people in the cap sector by destroying their spawns, just killing people without destroying the spawns doesn't change that much.
The new players guide is a little out of date, but the only change to spawns is the addition of the half track which is a 60 second timer team wide spawn, you should probably leave it alone and not move it if you see one in game until you play more.
If you turn the engine on people can't spawn on it anymore.
Itâs probably fine, people donât spawn those in public matches anyways
Warfare could be 6 min if you're really good and coordinated the other team is the opposite
No it can't, it's 6 minutes min cap time to get the 3 objectives plus warm up time and travel to mid point
i would bet on 1hr for most matches with some leeway.
medic is good to main and if you enjoy that style, play support as well. officers always need it and it can completely change games if utilized

I can excuse bloating up boxes for the sake of marketing presentation (4 boxes to say "British-something") , but crossing off things that were never implemented is really something.
It's kinda funny how easy it is to become jaded about the future of this game/the game in general, if you wish to peek behind the curtains.
Simply bringing it to attention will get people to think you're cynical too, I'd know.
Either that or they think you have no idea what you are talking about if you present them with the gameplay mechanical facts, e.g. the "convo" you had with that one guy in the PTE channel yesterday

Just downloaded the game. Is constant getting stuck with a tank intended? Like I cant even drive through a bush near a road.
Yeah it happens.. Driving a tank is not easy in this game...
Itâs weird, some things you get stuck on that you donât think you would, others you can go right over like it was nothing, and some things you can drive through and some things you canât, like low walls, some you can drive through, others you canât sometimes idk

But why the 3rd person running animation of the German soldiers doesn't match the 1st person one?
For visual differences and immersion

lame i get slowmode time out when trying to post a video file with comment but because of file posting is disabled in new-member-feedback i couldn't post and instead get timeout despite not being able to post anything at all! i guess that's more discords issue than the community discord issue though. anyhow
man precisions strikes are bad if they get ricocheted by tanks no matter what direction they come in. It adds RNG where if two competitive teams are facing each other, if one team's precision strike ricochets and the other one succeeds it leaves an unfair power vacuum that is determined by pixel RNG.
Please post this in #new-member-feedback the devs will see it
