Im new and just wanted to ask if there is a way i can find out how they are doing their research for historical accuracy? Is there any sources or links cited or explanation of how they do their research? Mainly wondering for future reference of when they do the japanese faction as pretty much everything the Americans made in ww2 about the japanese is false or wrong in some way, except the obvious like weapon functionality (though some of that was wrong too) and the best place to find good sources is either in japanese or credible english speaking researchers

The answer is things that continuously grant passive xp, so building nodes for instance, repair stations that are repairing vehicles constantly, building garries that are bring used, the nodes are the easiest thing to do

Barbed wire was meant to slow the enemy down, or redirect them, not outright kill them, which is a good idea of how to use them in game. Cordon off areas of interest, like large open areas for vehicles to push through, or archways into a well-defendable forward position using barbed wire, because it'll make them either go around, or waste a satchel to blow it up

Some servers have a lower ping threshold, so, for example, if you are on the US West Coast and want to play on a Eastern European server, you'll probably encounter this problem more often than not.

When looking for servers where to play on, you can change the list order by clicking on "ping", so that you'll have the server closest to you on top and avoid the high ping issue.

But then, it might just be your internet connection that has fluctuations in quality/latency, so you'll experience lag spikes so strong that your ping will reach the server threshold, resulting in you getting kicked from the server.
Although we can't help you with this issue, your ISP should.

About this all, it's something I've seen multiple times: be it people who don't like to squad lead (but that's the beauty of the game), or who always are squad leading and want to play as infantry for once, or who don't have a microphone, or who are too scared/shy to take a leadership role... you'll end up sometimes with the whole team not making a squad until 3-4 give up and make a squad, sometimes just to leave it and rejoin it to play as infantry instead...

My recommendation would be to look into HLL clans: groups of people playing together (and against each other in organised matches and tournaments) every day on their servers (the community servers you see), making their own squads and enjoying the game to the fullest.

  1. Is there any additional benefit to a class beyond level 10?
  2. The rank structure Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel, etc. Just looking at the experience needed to get to Major General for example could take years. Most games have a shelf life of maybe 3-5 years before you move onto the next installment of a newer version of a game, typically. So is there any benefit to rank, or is it just cosmetic?

Had a super good inf killing game as a tank squad, 55 kills in a panther(Died to map edge and getting stuck out of bounds too long) 56 as a tiger(game ended while inside) 139 total

We must've bounced 30 rockets and dodged 20, we were shooting at far range while occasionally pushing in closer when the inf were available as cover

Grease gun is accurate, not that it matters when you need to hit 4 times

Every gun is as accurate as another. There isn't a single weapon that is "more accurate" than another. They are all identical.
And the Grease gun shares the exact same damage values as all the other SMGs, which requires 2 body shots (which is any bodypart above the knees) up to 75m, or 3 body shots if target is beyond 75m.

The M1928A1 did use drum mags and was used in some capacity by the Allies (early to mid-war), but stick mags were quickly the preferred choice as drum mags are noisy, unreliable, heavy, bulky, etc. When the M1928A1 got replaced by the M1A1 (mid-war), stick mags were only used as the M1 was incompatible with drum mags.

Drum mags are doodoo in general, even today, for the same reasons. You'll rarely see them fielded with any firearm outside of maybe a squad support role; even then, belted ammo or stuff like triple/quadruple-stack universal mags are preferred

You can also ask @hasty tinsel and @modern rampart, they're both as dim as a broken light bulbs and if they actually did more than just face level research they'd know that the lewis gun did see infantry level combat after dunkirk as the british stockpile of weapons was nowhere near enough and entire sections would only have half the bren guns or bars they were meant to have and so infantry would use what they had. They lack entire understanding of personal firearms and their use cases within the setting of the game

Every round fired from one gun is as accurate as another gun. Recoil itself doesn't change the accuracy of the weapon. And given how little amount of hits it takes to down a target, recoil and rate of fire hardly ever makes a difference in combat.

I'd say the grease guns and mp40s slow fire rate do make the difference quite often when both players see each other and draw at similar times

Not sure why I'm posting this here but I feel like I need to say something, maybe get some advice from more experienced people. I feel like every time I die or my tank gets destroyed that I'm letting my team down. I don't get this feeling with other games, and I've been gaming for the better part of 8 years across multiple platforms and many titles, SP and MP. I can't seem to figure out how to contribute more than what I am as a newcomer to HLL; I'm mainly playing in Tanks right now with a lot of Rifleman gameplay as well. I had a 97 kill game in a panther my first game on last night and I haven't even come close to that since. Maybe its just my inexperience bothering me or some kind of only-in-game confidence issue, but I never feel like anyone hears my callouts or that I'm being any help or providing any tangible assistance to my team. I'll get a tank crew together and we'll pull 15-20ish kills and then ill make a dumb mistake and we'll get satchelled or killed by another tank because of me. Tbh I'm not sure if this even makes any sense to any of you but I thought I'd write something out and post it here. Perhaps some of you also feel this way coming in to a hardcore shooter experience for the first time; or some vets around here could shoot me some pointers. Average depends on you, if I'm in a good spot and have a great spotter we can get 50-60 kills over time but you can't expect that much all the time

It can be done on the squad management screen so people joining know that. Whether they pay attention is another matter.

Everyone automatically attacks so I generally sit on defence. Which is never as boring as people think.

You see that mass of infantry swarming next objective? The enemy are doing exactly the same thing and heading our way.

If people stick around on defence they will see plenty of action.

I played a game as a tank squad leader, I managed to communicate with the commander and get a tank destroy what he wanted, but sometimes there would be these large markers on the map, with a letter on them and a little logo of what they marked, from my understanding, the commander saw those, does the commander place these or can I place these in order to call for a precision strike etc?

No, not waiting for medics and spawning on an OP is better than waiting on someone for many reasons, not just the fact that you miss fewer spawn waves.

You get all your ammo back (explosives included), you can deploy as a different class and you can deploy elsewhere on the map

#

That's why you'll see people tap out in front of you

On average. Of course it's not literally better 100% of time time but generally speaking if your team has good spawns that's way better than medics, and if you don't have good spawns that should be priority number 1

#

But play whatever you think is fun, I'm just explaining why you will see people give up when you're on the way to revive them.

HLL just isnt the type of shooter game that lends itself to "medic gameplay". It's always better to have another player fit for shooting rather than someone reviving downed teammates. As was said, spawn placement is the absolute determiner of games won and lost, not of the rare instances of a medic doing his job.

Furthermore, while the reasoning might initially seem backwards, it is much too easy to kill and be killed in HLL for revives to have any sort of meaningful positive impact. Conversely, in games where the player characters are more resilient/spongy to gunfire (ie, more shots hit before they are 'downed'), it is then where a medic class becomes useful, because the medics contributes a greater effect to the teams' force multiplier, and one revive gained is more meaningful on the field because a body is "worth" more.

The game existed on PC for years before console? Progression and everything is tracked on Steam for PC, consoles have their own system.

Trying to bridge that would be a lot of effort for no gain, you're going to get absolutely rocked in this game by anyone with a mouse/keyboard when you're using a controller.

Especially things like bans, those are tracked by steam ID on PC, they'd have to handle bridging that and doing it in a way where you could only get one steam ID per console account so people couldn't grief with endless acounts

There's never going to be offline content in this game because they chose to make the game server responsible for parts of the game, and nobody gets access to those files, that's why you can't privately host a HLL server, you could only do it through a few approved hosting companies.

Well, the decision to forego the tutorial was made when the game was in a far different state than it was today. I don't necessarily expect it, but it's plausible given how popular the game has become and how often newer players are giving the game a go.

I've never directed randoms in my squad what needs to be done. HLL isn't that kind of game.

When you realize that the game's all about spawns, you dont need to direct. Your job is to place spawns, and good spawns will affect the unit well enough that there doesn't need to be any micromanaging. Micromanaging is a waste of time in HLL, it's unnecessary brain bloat
