It isn't hard. You'll realize it's different compared to your COD/BF shooters. Just play slow, use comms

For the first few hours I just played rifleman/mg/medic as they're self explanatory. If you decide to keep the game, expand after you obtain basic knowledge of the game. Don't feel weird to grab SL when you're comfortable, just express to your squad you're new and a lot of people in this community will help you out.

Yeah mic is pretty necessary as SL/Commander. If you aren't going to use one, especially as commander, you're hurting your team.

You'll probably end up being kicked and it won't be a good time for anybody.

If for whatever reason you want to explore the SL kit, understanding putting down OP & Garry's you can make a locked squad in a live game and have at it.

The mechanics are much more simplified than RO/RS tho. Bullets come from your face. None of that wacky free aim thing. No proper damage thing its kinda just, body and head. Body shots will down you headshots will kill you. Any damage you take will make you bleed. Recoil is pretty basic etc

No, it doesn’t matter anymore. It used to be the closer to the frontline, the more they’d give, but now it’s +10 regardless.

They’re best built in the HQ so they can’t be lost by losing sectors

Umm, when squad leader pings map with tank etc markers, does it show up for commander and every other squad or just yours?

Can’t remember why/how it got to be changed tbh. Pings will only show for the squad, the officer will need to place a mark on the map in order for command and other squads to see

It got changed because the winning team had more resources, and comebacks were very rare

If the team 3-2 up decided to, they could basically win via attrition and the other team couldn't do anything to combat it

So they made some changes to make this harder to do and give the losing commander some options

So the game, IMO, sits between a playstyle niche, as its more realistic and personally engaging that CoD or Battlefield, but less realistic and restrictive than Post Scriptum or Arma

A Microphone is basically necessary though

I played the Enlisted closed beta, and then the first few updates

Dont know how it is now

But I'd compare Enlisted closer to Heroes and Generals

Hell let loose does not have much you'll be grinding for

As most of what is unlocked comes down to unit cosmetics, or some load-out variations

I personally prefer HLL far beyond Enlisted, because while the vehicle combat may be more limited, and the variation of combat is a little less, its much more fluid, the interactions with people are far better, the combat nornally feels much more intense and enjoyable, and the game feels a lot more alive

Also the lack of AI helps the atmosphere a lot

That’s probably smoke shells from artillery guns, some soldiers have small smoke grenades but artillery can fire smoke shells that are roughly twice the radius of a normal smoke grenade

They cost 7 munitions each I believe

If you have a decent artillery guy you can have him switch between HE and smoke while you’re attacking a point so you have concealment from the smoke and the HE can take out strongpoints

I did think it was kinda strange that arty had unlimited rounds and can just fire nonstop. So it actually has a resource?

3 or 5 for an HE shell and I believe 7 for a smoke , I haven’t played arty in a while so my numbers may be off by a few but yes, each shell costs the team something and if all three guns or two guns firing efficiently you will out run your team’s munition nodes and run out of supplies so watching that counter is crucial

If ppl are in a discord vc then they’ll usually use in game voice as well. I only rly play HLL with friends now so we’ll hop in a discord vc, but we also use the in game voice channels for sharing info still

Clans usually only use the voice channels in their discord servers if there’s specific things they want to try out or if their squad is full of those in the same clan. Apart from that, clan vc’s will only get used in private events

I tried Commander on a few smaller servers (to not cause a big disruption if I mess up), all you really need is to yell at engineers to make nodes, call in supply drops at strategic points for garrisons and spawn tanks for tank crews.

You'll mostly be watching the map than actually going n shootin 👍

Yeah, I am aware of that, but I want try to made squad defend and build garries, becuase as SL I can do that, but I will end up in defense only.

Because, and it will sounds bad from me, that I am one of these SL, that is actually willing defend points and do not be on attack 24/7, but to be honest, I want sometimes attack too, but no one, in my experience when I play as SL, want to defend, so as Commander, I can order them to do it 😄

They dropped it to 30 in P16 from memory! Best bet is to have the turret at either 11 or 1 o'clock to bounce the front plate - but watch your sides, they'll be vulnerable.

That's where smoke grenades come in and multiple squads should help each other. One squad starts off deploying smoke, then another squad moves up and throw smoke closer to the objective, and so on. The other choice is have artillery smoke out/blind the entrenched opposition and/or smoke the open field.

It's really easy to spot (moving) enemies in this game. Dont count on concealment to keep you safe . Move from cover to cover as flora and shadows don't render at a distance. Use smoke grenades, and depressions in the landscape to get around. And make as little noise as possible, try to 1 shot enemies because a gun attracts a lot of attention.

Oh no, there's no match making service on PC (which is a good thing really) because we have a dedicated server browser, just fire up the server browser, set whatever filters you want and then sort by ping and find a server with like 40-80 people on it.

The game itself is much lighter than Tarkov, but I think it strikes a nice balance between arcade fun and some aspects of immersive realism.

Ok. I wish to play axis all the time to familiarise with weapons, and recognise the enemy uniforms. Every new game I pick axis, then on the map change it automatically throws me into allied. Alternating the faction makes sense now, as the "last" side played is axis.

I'd hoped to find a parameter in the engine.ini which guarantees my favoured faction, but as you all stated, it alternates. Thanks again.

It hasn’t generally become more dumb and arcadey though. Flare guns are a standout example and nothing to stop them being changed, they’ve only just been introduced.

The ‘kickstarter phase’ is what has made this game so successful. Just because T17 acquired, doesn’t make sense to change a winning formula, it alters both the audience and competition

You basically just dump all 3 of your nodes that you can build in the second objective row. you can either do this by taking a supply truck or calling in a supply drop on the area that your gonna place them. By placing them in the second row you get to keep them closer to the front line (the further forward they are, the more they generate) but not too far ahead so that if the middle obj gets taken, it doesnt destroy them

Nodes generate resources for commander. Three different types of resource, three different nodes. Each player can place max 1 of each node but there’s a max 3 of each node per team. Have to be engineer to build. Nodes generate +10 regardless of where they are placed.

You need supplies to build a node has to be friendly territory. Generally, best place is anywhere within first two rows from HQ because they get destroyed if enemy takes territory so this avoids that. Sometimes, one manpower and ammo node can be useful near the front line on a defensive point as they both reduce cool-down for friendly soldier supply box and ammo box respectively. It’s situational.

Usual starting strategy leave first supply truck for garrisons. Use supply truck 2 for nodes. You could also get support players to drop their supply at start of match in HQ before they run off

A supply truck is limited in where it can drop e.g. not in first two rows of map near HQ (apart from rare exceptions). So you’ll need to drop supplies just into third row and build nodes back in second row.

If that makes sense. Easier to see it done than explain via text.

Whatever you use supplies for, you have a 50 metre build radius

Is it really as easy as lining up the arty crosshairs to map ping and just put in the right elevation from calculator/distance conversion or do the degree markers (compass degrees, traverse degrees, the compass on loader which seems to be different?) effect how the arty shoots?

Nope it still works, any XP you get from any source is always applied towards the class that you are at the time that is earned.

Other passive forms of XP include building garrisons, anytime someone spawns on it you'll get XP for that.

Build a couple nodes, build a good garrison or two, swap to your desired role and rake it in.

Good to hear! I did have one match where despite the nodes that I built at the start, I received no XP for the other role I played as, but I think my game was bugged somehow.

As the amount of XP I received was really really low despite being on the server for the whole duration of the match.

And I performed just fine.

Each recon squad has 2 people, the officer/spotter and the sniper. If you create a recon squad - you automatically become the officer and can't switch. @ornate wadi All servers have different rules but HQ camping is a bit of a weird situation, for example do you ban people for spawn camping while they are taking down enemy nodes in left HQ and they shoot people who spawn in trying and defend them?

Fine. 1. Either you shouldn't be able to place as many nodes as you like in the spawn or it should be a rule you can't to even prevent providing an opportunity to spawn camp for any reason. If you have to put nodes in the HQ spawn because you don't like putting them anywhere else, then there's bigger issues. there's an entire map to place nodes at besides HQ spawn.

2. if there are nodes in spawn, then leave them. You shouldn't be anywhere near the enemy HQ in the first place.

recheck the text. I didn't start any debate. I simply asked about other servers. @sweet cliff started the debate. And yes, if someone asks me a question, I will answer. Though I have tried to end this convo a couple times despite someone else continuing it.

and admins have the ability to prevent it by enforcing such rules, despite not doing so. some admins in some server even abuse this. That's clearly a sign of a bad game feature.

Though what I have suggested from design point of view that HQs could have constant recon plane active so any non-recon unit forces would show up in the map once entering in HQs when it's not active capture zone.
