It's very sad. I'm not an American, but I became interested in the Pacific front after the series Pacific. There are so many things you can come up with. Guadalcanal, Peleliu, Saipan, Okinawa, Iwo Jima. It would be worthwhile to introduce a new regime and the Japanese special capabilities just for this. Of course, they are very poorly armed compared to the Americans.

Whenever I move the map with my cursor I get major stutters, I only get stutters when doing this. Every video I see online they have smooth map movement. Has anyone had this issue and know a fix?

good points, but point 4 is only partially helpful imo. You can more or less go straight into armor or recon if you want, or never play them. Although armor in particular requires checking a guide, or finding someone to teach you a bit.

Also keep in mind that a lot of new players do not follow solid's very solid advise. Lots of squads without comms, including SL. What you can do is just say hello when joining a squad if its silent, if no one responds find another squad, rinse and repeat.

Matches can be terrible if a lot of players dont communicate nor take responsibility for the spawn points and map control etc. Don't let those game represent most of your hll gaming experience.

Overall XP is just from your squad. So if your squad is good and gets high scores, you'll get a lot of XP

You REALLY shouldn't go straight into armor OR recon.

Newbies in armor, like you mentioned, lack understanding the threats on the field. From the types of enemy tanks, where to shoot them, how to comm in a tank or with other tanks and units on the field, how to properly assess infantry threats to your tank, how to properly take down garries (aka the chance of splashing them from angles most people couldn't even imagine).

Same goes for recon.

Too many new players take recon and just play it like normal infantry with a scope and a few mines.
Proper recons need to (at least in pub games, for the majority of the match), be in the back line.
Then they need to evaluate from the following which is more valuable to the team at the given moment:

1. Holding a vantage point and marking things.
2. Destroying enemy artillery guns (if applicable).
3. Destroying enemies back or even in-side of point garries from the back.
4. Destroying nodes.
5. Building friendly flanking garrisons.
6. Spawning back on defense (or maybe even attack) and providing a flare for information gathering purposes.

Oh yeah because having say 1000 hours as an officer immediately makes you good in a tank? No, you should start off as a driver and listen to the other, then work your way to gunner, then to becoming the tank commander

I strongly agree with this, especially with points 2) and 4), @faint portal.
Newbies definitely should have at least a basic understanding of the main gamemodes so they have some sort of idea what is going on around them. And until they have grasped a basic understanding of the game, they should stay away from playing roles with heightened responsibility (SL, officer, recon, armour).

Furthermore, what also can help is giving them a few brief, easy tips of how to stay alive longer (don't rush, scan surroundings, listen for gun shots (learn all the different gun sounds).

They listened to us on the SPA (Assault guns) albeit they didn't fully commit to it, we did get huge changes to them.
It just required a lot of work and a lot of people to back it to get the change but they did in the end, for the better.

As for the Mortar thing, well one of Vietnams key features is Mortars, that's the only logic behind them not adding in Mortars for HLL.

The updates are meant to create some sense of hype for a dwindling base and they are meant to placate the frustrated ones, specifically on console, by always mentioning "various performance improvements" in every patch note while never actually so much as attempting to improve performance.
