What if lone wolfers (without anybody of their squad close) could be 2HK instead of 1HK? Or 1HK range against squad-groupped players lowered by half? For instance, if there would be a squad, we wouldn't be able to 1HK them on 200m, but just on 100m. But rly, I am just wondering, take it as BS 💩 alert, this doesn't need to make full sense 😄 .
Some things can't be simulated, like the fear, courage or leadership character of the soldier the player plays as, hence I play with the idea of SL orders that would at least a bit reflect some of it. And to promote the squadPlay and discourage lone-wolfing.

you're proposing a 'fix' for one issue by adjusting another but when in certain circumstances.
There's some crosssover between the two, but the fixes should be applied independently to one another.
like, 'lonewolfing' isn't an issue because the gunplay is incredibly shallow and easy, but it does contribute to it
I went to the squad studio personally and one of the main things they are doing is significantly changing the ICO bc of the poor reception to it.

That's why instead of adding more restrictions, punishment/long respawn times or mandatory mic use to "incentivize" squad gameplay, , would be much better to update essentials things like overhaul the weapons making them more realistic like those in Squad, improve basic things like the current perfectly static CS style camera when moving (that's what gives it that BF feeling that many people complain) and increase its movement or shake to make it as immersive as stalker first person camera or certain bodycam mods for arma Reforger, or add the ability to pick up weapons from the ground, in addition to adding bayonets and basic things. All of that would change the game for the better without making it tedious
I switched over to Squad after that beautiful HLL update where they increased the run speed.. Really liked Squad, a little bit more involved but good once you get the hang of it. Then they introduced the ICO which gave me noodle arms, both games turned to crap.
They completely over did it.
These days it's nothing close to how ICO launched. People just keep that bad memory in their heads to this day.
I think HLL strikes a pretty good balance right now between arcade / realism, plays a bit like the old battlefield games (pre BC2), but better

What I like about squad devs is they are trying to work on what attracts new players but also trying to retain old players by changing up the "Meta" feel of the game
I personally would love hll devs to feel more confident in being ok with changing the meta aspects of the game

When I ran the stats a while ago, the average player was getting around 20 kills per game.
For your average HLL gamer, taking out 2 garrisons is actually a top 5% game of all time

The gunplay is what makes this game still fun and different to other games. I dont understand why everything has to be realistic? This always complicates things. I enjoy the simple gameplay. There is not an overwhelming ammount of information to process so the focus lies on execution of decisions. If most of the users here share the opinion that the majority of players "normies" cant achieve or comprehend the simple mechanics already in place (spawn building for example) then why add more stuff to focus on? Less is more imo
The game should be designed to be allowed to play on different levels of involvement from the player
It should be fine for some players to enjoy the game on a simple surface level
The game is perfect.
And for more hardcore players there should be purposeful mechanics to engage with on a deeper level

It’s fairly simple. I have around 65 hours now. The first 25 hours were hell let loose indeed. But once I started using the Mike talking to my squad mates occasionally taking squad lead; you get more acquainted with how everything works.
The most purposeful mechanics to engage in which are already in place is teamplay, communication, micro and macro planning etc.. which you all find in comp at any tier
Think about the game as an experience. When I started looking at it as the closest shot, I will ever have to experiencing how war could have been yet still keeping an arcade vibe.

Just in general. With the new map if they want the added pontoon bridges that mean all of the German equipment should be off the map and replaced with American vehicles and equipment everywhere
And in the original game map it doesn’t make sense as no German tanks or large field guns were present at the battle, and every single building is reused from the Normandy and Soviet maps so it looks out of place

Got pushed 1-5, half cap. Managed to stabilize and bring back to 4-1, our favour.

The houses are meh. Some are nice here and there, but a lot of them have 2 issues:
- Some are so close that an enemy can be like 2 walls further and still lock your blue zone garry.
- Other houses feel like their surroundings are so insanely barren that a garry next to it gets spotted from half the map away

I must say from the look of the refresh, it’s better than I thought, although some of the visuals aren’t as appealing
Especially the water, the water is a very obvious looping texture, whereas the old one wasn’t
The warmer look is an interesting choice, definitely changes it quite a bit, and makes it easier to spot people crossing the other bridges
they could have remagen day 1 which is just middle bridge then remagen day X which is however many days later with pontoon bridges built, that way everyone is happy (1 v 3 bridges)
Honestly I think it’ll be fine as is, just won’t be the same anymore

They made the river shore land larger, so the airhead can land safely. However it still can land only on a small new area very easily coverable and locked down by even an single player, especially if MG. Destroyable even without camping it just the same as before in the old/current Remagen.
Then, they added 2 pontoon bridges. Since those have nothing to do with the airhead opportunities, the pontoons could have easily started as pre-placed blueprints, buildable by both teams... instead of a pre-placed finished asset.

can one side be dismantling from one shore whilst the other tries to build from the opposite shore?

No. One side building might be unbuilding the progress of the other side as well. I would see some ways. But for sure it wouldn't be 1 blueprint, after building which the whole pontoon would appear - no. It would be rather 3-5 parts of separate blueprints that would be extending the pontoon forward in steps, in favour of the side that has made the building progress.

What if rogue player teamkills? What if rogue player steals a tank and drives it towards the enemy without making any threat? What if a rogue player boxes a garrison in with razor wires? etc. etc.
1st of all, chance for that happening is very small. 2nd, he will be visible the same for the enemies as for the friendlies so any kind of griefing asks for an admin action or votekick. It's not limited just for pontoon building so I don't understand the reason for listing this argument here - other kinds of rogue players are more dangerous than this.

I've been struggling with the Level 1 bug. Is there a trusted fix for it? I've looked around and everything I've found says I have to die a few times before the server will register my proper level. While that does work it prevents me from playing on the high level servers where I spend my time.

In my opinion I would have rather seen the map shorted length wise and expanded its width to accommodate more of Erpel and Remagen so we could get a half and half urban/ forest map
Had have Remagen be on the far right of the map to mimic the actual movements of the assault IRL
Could even make the map unique by having each team spawn on the same side of the map but blocked by the river itself
Could also have alternate spawns for offensive where the German team spawns at the bridge and the Americans in the town of Remagen
thats prob the qa for all 100 games in their catalogue
I suppose they had to inflate the numbers for the credits from 0 somehow
Please don't get excited about games nowadays at least not from the the western publishers... We've got burnt so many times over the past few years, there are no alfa releases, no demos, no refunds... Think of the game as the next Concord or Highguard and if it is any better than that you won't be disappointed. There are organizations suing Steam that they basically allow customers write bad reviews... That's the world we live in now.. Look at the state of HLL and what has been done in the recent years to improve it or any major change in the right direction. I can't really think of many if any and that's the same company that's working on HLL:V.. just please don't get too excited

Pretty much everything in game honestly. Not a lot of it is hardcore except for the fact guns one shot and emplacements need supplies. Other then that the game is heavily Arcady with everything else
Conversation kinda proves what I had mentioned a couple of times. The vets and experienced players on this Discord rant about the game being bugged, historically inaccurate, arcade and lacking a vision while 90% of the rest of the playerbase just enjoys the game. And that also explains the generous amount of hype for Vietnam and why it most likely will be a success
And that’s fine. I just get teeved when people act like this game is absolute perfect with no flaws and people who suggest stuff to be added or fixed are the worst players in the world

yeah it very much depends on the players in the match... if there are good fraggers on both teams, they usually get less kill than when they fight only the average players
but in HLL there are sheep which is the average majority, and then there are just a few wolves who get usually majority of kills
and then there is a kind of players who just think they are wolves - while they are able to get their kills just by hedgerowTop/bush/roof hardCamping 😄 but are weak and get killed easily when they don't camp or spawncamp
if u were in a game and the objective is Infront of u would u scope it out from the sides ? or right Infront of it
and stick in groups or tiny groups or solo
again, depends - if I see there are no any strong players in the other team, I can afford for a direct assault as I can have a high chance of kill the enemy even if I get fired upon first, or I simply spot & kill them first while moving there
most of average peeps in HLL are blind and oblivious
if I know the direct access to the point is guarded by some stronger opponent(s), I try it once or twice directly but if it doesn't work, I need to flank
if an opening is guarded by some tank, then I use smoke to pass (pretty much the only occasion when I use smokes)
but God I hate when friendlies are using smoke grenades at every occasion... they get fired upon and instead of shooting/killing back even an easy enemy, they throw smoke... and think it will help them (it usually doesn't) xD At the same it just makes me not to see the targets while the smoke helps just the enemy anyway, as they watch the edge of it and kill them or even use that smoke to approach us 😄 .

Learn to build OPs and learn good garrisons locations which is the most important thing. Everything else you will pretty much learn as you go...
learn the maps and usual patterns which are being followed especially (but not only) at the beginning of the match, use them to your advantage.

Build garrisons (team spawnpoints) as much in the bluezone as possible - even 1 meter into the red territory and the garrison gets the redzone nerf (blocked by even 1 enemy anywhere within 100m, instead of blueZone garri's 15m). OPs (squad spawnpoint) don't have such nerf and they act the same everywhere.
If everyone flanks, no one flanks. A strong frontline is always needed to support a push

The usecases were very minor, the best one I can recall was this:
Start of match and I'm recon
After reaching around half map, I place my backup OP and keep driving
I mark the location where I plan to place my outpost
After that marking and calling in a supp drop somewhere else
At least in my mind that makes perfect sense that I'll go set down my op after which I'll proceed to the drop I request.
Obviously normie cmd's not always understood, but the better ones instantly did.
So I essentially inform of my 2 next major moves w/o needing to voice comm it.

Self-Propelled Artillery vehicles were primarily open-topped vehicles with artillery guns used for much longer range. Assault Tanks had shorter barreled guns that were primarily used to destroy enemy defenses and support infantry advances that were close to medium range. They didn't have the ability to have indirect fire.

The issue is there are open field maps where building spawns is possible in a very limited areas like behind the one building.. those spots are difficult to splash from tanks but now it can be sniped by SPA making the whole location unplayable for infantry

Since both teams will have access to it it means there's the potential for back and forth
It just means those areas become less stable
It'll be harder for either team to cement a static advantage

i took ben "increase" to have meant decrease, like a supply box you decrease cooldown by being in node radius

Bit of a silly question maybe, but with the change to the static artillery. Will that mean it can shoot into the 5th cap point now?
I would be okay with cooldown for rockets with the ability to resupply from the explosive box so you are not incentivise to redeploy
In most public games, if you want to put the recon player shooting flares on a “cooldown” find the outpost from which he is shooting his flares from??
Also how is flare “spam” a bad thing? Most newbies are clueless as to where enemies can be in most cases

Flares are a solution to ninja spawns. Take both out.
Just played against ESPT on Mortain and it helped a lot for knowing where all of their bush rats were.

SPA -> SPG and add mortars
I agree that having more flares available in matches with mostly low skilled players is better and can make the game way more fun
I think the last thing this game needs is more magical cooldowns like its a hero shooter

Being encouraged to redeploy because it's the best way to play is much more immersion killing than some cooldowns

I've never needed spawns behind the enemy to beat them, I've always needed more tanks. I dont see how a stalemate could happen now, especially with SPAs being touted as so powerful.

That's the whole point... if you want to flank someone you get immediately spotted and the whole game is a stalemate for the mid point.. not having the flares would make more breakthroughs possible
Honestly though, low-key, it flare spam makes the fun and interesting plays harder.
I remember getting man marked by two ESPT flareboys in a final. Like what do I do against that
Have you played in the timeline of absolutely no redzone garries? You capped mid and played with your balls for the next 70 minutes. You lost midcap? You could've just go afk.
Btw the SPA changed are pretty nice
especially on maps like foy westbend.
