Does anyone actually understand the logic behind Artillery Strike placement?

It feels there are inconsistencies in valid placement. Sometimes it feels like the placement is invalid one time and when removed and moved by a pixel it's all green and good to go. And it's not just the overlapping but sometimes it does not work around strong points and other areas.
And I bet there is no mention of its usage in the field manual just like there is nothing mentioned about SPAs. I guess this will never be looked at again once released š

You have to be sure in Windows you have a single Record and single Playback Device. Disable all others you are not using. Once you set these be sure to choose as Default Devices. Then choose SOUND RESET in Windows too. See if this helps

Btw. ... so funny, none of these "arty-rights" warriors ever complained ever before the arty changes, while it was possible for the arty to be directly operable by anybody, including the Commander, Medic or Sniper. All was just fine for them. Now they suddenly appear and see it as a problem even when the CMD just calls for the arty, and he is not directly operating it anymore. Yet they act like he is and are using it as a (made-up) argument.
So much for one of these people's arguments which they obviously twist as it suits them. Smells selfish, fighting not for the good of the game, just for the good of themselves. They seem to actually (mis)believe in them too (or are just ragebaiting), but that doesn't make those arguments objective or right at all.

best way of getting sniper is managing to load into the game before everyone else and snatching it before anyone else, a spotter is needed to start the squad though so you pretty much need to have a friend with you to claim the squad

When you need a new shoe (your leg is fine) but you can't run anymore.
I dunno if that's just my impression, but I remember there used to be a lot of Kursks, Mortains, Elseborns, Hill 400s and Hurtgens. Now 99% of the maps I see are Sainte Mere Eglise, Foy, Purple Heart, Caretans and Sainte Marie Du Mont. It's nauseating.
To the point that I started excluding the latter 5 in my filters and I'm basically getting no servers now.

What you're saying doesnt change a thing, the artillery guns in HLL are too close to the frontline anyways for any realism argument in favour of keeping them. I get you primarily want to play artillery and theres no other games that really have it especially on console. But really dont get your hopes up im sure they'd sooner bin artillery than add any complex calculations to it

In reality I understand the distance argument. The maps arenāt big enough, but at the same time, I donāt foresee how you can have a WW2 game without manned artillery because how important it was for the war on both sides. It would be like removing tanks. It would make no sense because how important they were for all armies. Mortars were used, but much less than artillery.
We then canāt keep making the argument āwell in real life this and real life thatā when the game constantly does unrealistic things and changes that pull further away from what used to make HLL authentic and unique. Like, bazookas now operating the same as the shreck which is 3-4Xs its size. Guys want to have their cake and eat it too when saying āin real lifeā as their argument. They only bring it up when it benefits their argument.
I got killed 17 times by artillery in a match one time. It was brutal, but it was not the same spot and he would hit us in lanes, roads, different places. It was good artillery. Changed the game. He was not just spamming either

its just there is very little in the loop of countering it to the point it might aswell not exist
And you canāt just block off the HQ area because then suddenly you have unkillable artillery which would break the entire game

Sheafs are shelling patterns. Different patterns for different terrain or instances. Some converge on an area, some go linear, some go open.

As much as I hate having commander have control of it, I do agree it shouldnāt be random like it is. There is a method to the madness if you are a beast on the gun. The most I have ever had was 334. Almost never do I sit there and shoot at garrisons
My controversial opinion is that HQ2 should be a safe zone. Nodes cannot be built there so recon can still hunt for them and they are not perma safe.
1 artillery gun with the limited ammo is has. The cooldown and how you have to wait 3+ minutes for ammo after you shoot your 50 is enough. You wonāt like it, but that does mean artillery is uncounterable. (Adds some realism) Plus, that then means there is true value to having YOUR gun up and running while being effective. Most complaints about arty come from games with no garrisons or officers. Force all squads to have an SL which increases spawns and decreases your likelihood of being hit on an OP or garrison. High tides raise all boats.
- remove the ability for artillery spotters to build garrisons and shoot flares. Right now in most console pubs artillery has become another recon squad popping flares because they know they will just get griefed and gun gone immediately if they try to play the role they selected.

With the current ammo setup, you cannot shoot indefinitely. If you get your 50 shells and shoot nonstop you run out after 7 minutes. The cooldown is 10. Meaning you already donāt get to shoot 30% of the match if you never get shot off or the gun dismantled.

When commander hits artillery resupply you get 50 shells. The cooldown is 10 minutes. If I load and shoot those shells nonstop they only last me 7 minutes. Meaning I have to wait 3 minutes for commander to be able to resupply, IF he has the ammo

Strongly disagree. 9 times out of 10 the squad or 2 you were helping move up get pushed back because you are waiting on ammo. They lose the ground you help them take. Good artillery is about taking ground and closing gaps. The people who say they just dial up a garrison or something donāt know what they are doing. Only 1 out of every 8 shells will hit a spawn. That is the least effective and inefficient way to shoot.
But, the belief of every squad being mandated to have a SL would (in theory) increase spawns and command chat communication, which would ideally elevate the game entirely. Instead right now, every game is more or less the exact same meat grind in the middle with whoever has the better backline rocket guy rinsing your garrisons

but in that case I think the game needs to do more to force team work, I think AT and Engineers need to be moved into their own respective squads so they can focus on their job on a squad level, while infantry squads do the heavy lifting in combat.
But with that arty change you arent really forcing that much in terms of team play other than communication really. And an average match would still just have one guy sat on artillery swapping seats to reload and fire.
And before you mention solo tankers they are a plague but atleast they have a severe handicap compared to arty which can be just as effective solo as with two people if you have the timing right

a mortar squad if done properly would have that teamwork forced
as ideally you'd need atleast two people to get a mortar up and running if say

The camera is stabilized with the position of the tank. If you're on the move the camera follows that movement. I understand what you're saying but it's not as stabilized as you're saying.

I've played Squad 44, Squad, Arma Reforger and Arma 3. I'm aware of what the other games have to offer. I would also like to raise the fact that you can pop your head out of the tank in SQ44. In HLL you can't really do that, that's why there's the 360 camera. Now that doesn't run the risk of getting headshot from the cupola like in SQ44, but it's better than having nothing. If you want what SQ44 has to offer then play SQ44 if you want what HLL has to offer then play HLL

it's the buggy UI - despite the Preset1 seems to be selected each time you enter that screen, the actual character should be wearing the skin of the other Preset you selected the last before
at the worst case you can check & verify that via looking at your sleeves in the 1st person view, to see if you are wearing what you meant to wear
if it's not the UI and you are talking about actual look of your guy (aka about being unable to switch uniforms/helmets/etc.), then it's something else I can't sadly give any input on

It just so much doesn't make sense that they are doing the Canadians as a new faction, considering they may not have more than 1-2 maps (right now we have no idea about any other than Juno). In that case they could have done the Polish as a faction for Driel as well, which would be also a waste tbh. They should have done them both as subfactions at best or as a DLC skin at worst, but still one system for both. But this inconsistency is stupid.
The British as well as the Soviets are lacking mapCounts so much, yet the devs decide to make yet another faction. There is no any logic of the dev team visible at all. What good do the factions do if we have no maps to play them on?

I used to start with every other role, till I graduated to SL and then Commander. But when I got there, I essentially never went back. SL is by far my most played and I do like it, don't get me wrong.
But it doesn't change the fact that there's ALWAYS normies. And there's perfectly enough of them that they're arrogant, refuse to learn, will drop it within 2 weeks anyway thus spending time and thought on them is always a waste as well
It's essentially the same case trying to play any games with other Latvians. Same issues. They're all normies playing like 2 games and the ones that do play something else, play like 1x 20 minute match and then call it a night.
So instead I opted to just going in communities where I only have like-minded people.

I'm just explaining my frustration with finding people from my, relatively small, country to play games with.
The ones that do play games, directly fall in line with the generalized term of "normie", the same "normies" we see and play with everyday in Hell Let Loose.
The same ones that ruin matches and think it's fine
It's like trying to push a water in a bucket from one side to the other by hand - I want to destroy a tank, I need to take AT because the oblivious players are... oblivious and stupid. But then I won't have OP. When I take SL role, then I don't have a Support (which is one of my fav roles). And if I take Support, I have no SL to use the box.
The level of players' general incompentence and unwillingness to listen reaches lowest levels to date.

Oh and I love being asked to build nodes by some random when I am the only one in the whole team who is capable of holding the enemies back from the point/area š . Anyone can build nodes, but not all can kill the enemy and hold the ground. I leave, point lost š .
Damn, I can even translate a bit of chat that one of my buddies said a while ago. He sent me that he plays HLL sometimes and saw that I have quite a lot of hours on STEAM.
I told him that his image of the map is bum, since the garry placement is terrible.
He responded with the following:
"If the officer says we need to defend, I try to run back and defend, but delivering supplies, building nodes and spending half the game looking at the map, I am not interested in doing. I prefer just shooting in the direction of the enemy and hearing how the helmets get destroyed sometimes"
And this mfer doesn't even comm in the game. He's like 1:1 with the definition.

So literally the situation Battlefield as a whole is sitting in. Where most people prefer to go back to bf3 and 4, play on like 1 of 20 servers at peak times.
Feels like we need a vetting process just to play games properly smh
In HLL that's a level requirement (at bare minimum)
In Battlefield that's simply playing on older titles that are invisible to the normies
In big MMO games that's playing on Private servers that use older version of the games
In GTA roleplay that's having a proper whitelist instead of being open to everyone

Steam is usually the most stable/reliable HLL from my experience. EPIC as XBOX PC gamepass usually report not seeing servers in the list the most... for instance.

I don't think it's straight up bad. But it has been lacking development in certain sides of it for a extended period of time.
Plagued by bugs that you'll start noticing the longer you play and a misheard community..

Let's take the most recent changes as an example...
- playerbase begged years for getting rid of** arty<>recon loop**, but the way the devs made the changes just deepened it
- many begged for dying and medics to matter, the devs respopnded they would make a mode for that where there would be tickets - but yet, they implemented it the way where dying still doesn't matter at all (maybe even less than in WARFARE or OFFENSIVE), nor the ammo. CONQUEST is just bad even at it's base.

HLL is jailed behind bars made of bad legacy systems that the devs don't care nor want to change anymore. Most of all, the sector system **vs **spawnpoint placement logic **vs **strongpoint locations.

The one thing I am most wondering about is how they'll deal with all the foliage present in a Jungle terrain.
Last time I checked, there's only like a few games I can recall that have done foliage perfectly. Aka not just visuals, but the fact that they're there for all players, no setting changes screw with them or nothing.
Now we have HLL, where a good part of the foliage disappears with lower settings, but we're gonna make that into a game.
1 guy sees 20 trees and 40 bushes and ferns.
2nd guy sees 3 trees and 2 bushes w/o any ferns or grass.
Either because he's 15 and playing on a 200euro pc or it's because he's on console.

very depends on how well HLL:V will be doing... if it sucks in most of current HLL1 playerbase, HLL1 may get dead or on life support
