Its bad for public lobbies bro where your SL has no mic or ears and doesnt build OPs. Nobody has explosive boxes in pubs either. So you kill an engine, redeploy on a garrison that is hopefully only 300m away and try to get back there with no help and without dying, only to find they have repaired and moved on. Nah man, this makes rocket AT just not nearly as impactful as it should be to the game on a good play.

It has moments of brilliance where it seems like it but that is totally dependent on lucky hit registration or a crazy connection advantage going on in your lobby. I'm convinced because one day it feels great and the next it is a hitmarker machine, or the gun simply fires blanks.

Lower recoil would make it have its niche on the Allied side by letting it do better at medium or longer ranges. As it is now, the Thompson is night and day better at any range. Accuracy by volume when all else fails.

Can you please fix the crashes on console? I was having an excellent match leveling up my class and it crashed right before the end. It's awful and it makes me not want to play anymore. Please fix it. If you want to have two games, fix the problems in one, please.

Over the last few weeks/months I have been going down with my love for HLL as well. I find myself getting no joy even when I am killing plenty and doing good, and also with the knowledge I can crash or get disconnected before a round is over.
I can play my prefered roles only very rarely anymore, usually ending up being forced to be SL just because the level of incompetence of other SLs is freezing low (or no SLs or no talking SL in the squad... or mix of all the mentioned).
The new artillery changes are... counterproductive. I hoped the overhaul would finally include implementation of mortars and full removal of the HQ arty. Instead, we are getting a strange mix of the overhaul, where the recon <> HQ arty loop still stays. And with a question if the mortars will EVER be implemented at all. These mentioned stuffs now sit on top of all the old unattended problems that remain unattended either. And the pile is so big.

While... the HLL playercounts keep dropping and I don't think U19 (even in its newest build) will turn the downTrend around.
I haven't really played since U18 either tbh. I help AFK seed a server daily, but that's it. The crashes annoyed me no end, as does this new arty ability. The unwanted changes to the death screen irritate me enormously (unreasonably so), but, they will make that configurable in U19, and Smolensk looks good so far, so I'll give it a go when it comes out.
I assume so too. U18, with all its flaws, simply came at the wrong time.
And I also suspect that the number of players will not increase significantly due to U19.

It does feel like the game has gotten a lot less enjoyable for infantry since the last patch. Between getting even more hammered by skillless, one-sided, artillery and tank-infantry balance being completely messed up and also becoming one-sided and unfun for infantry.
I'd argue it's got much better as infantry, the ADS fov slider separation allowing it to be 60 making the game more enjoyable instead of squinting your eyes, I've noticed more and more infantry are now forming firing lines, holding places they otherwise wouldn't have bothered with, instead of running around. That one simple change has actually had a huge impact on the overall quality of infantry play alone.

I wouldn't mind when tanks took many rockets to destroy... if the tanks had some more internal components to destroy and to be able to immobilise a tank via detracking. And if it was possible to kill or at least wound the crew inside the tank via penetration hits.
Oh, and ofc., if each vehicle hit would give the players the XP and not just the final blow. Not my problem anymore since I have been on LVL 500 for some longer time already, but this fairness should be implemented when it comes to the score/XPs.

This is an interesting thought. 3 rockets is dumb and affects OPs and garrisons too much. Better might be to reduce rockets needed to two but put AT rockets on a cooldown similar to supplies. Then the silly redeploy loop is also gone

I'm still not sure what you're on about here, I'm not seeing this huge change where you're declaring infantry play is now less enjoyable, and the FOV is a huge change in making Infantry enjoyable, I've not heard a single complaint about this change especially when you can now put it to 60 for aiming and not feel like you're running around in slow mo.

I'm aware of a lot of things and I've not heard a single person moan about it, you might have an issue but this games infantry play was bad before this change, you never once saw a firing line of infantry or wanting to hold up an area. I see it pretty much daily now.

In regards to artillery, it's missing two components.
Infantry needs to be able to build small free static defences to protect from artillery.

Indeed. I mostly play SL in pubs out of necessity and it was fun to be able to help an AT get behind a tank and deal with it. Now even if you do manage to do so, which on higher level matches is a challenge of itself, your AT still has his junk is his hands because as soon as he shoots once, the tank instantly turns and if by some miracle he still gets his second shot in, it’s still not enough

here I just dislike the inconsistency of damage/penetration of rockets vs tanks - sometimes 3 rockets needed even against a light tank 90° rear hits. And then there are the new certain collision tank models that prevent placing a satchel even on a flat tank's surface.
Infantry needs a decent way to deal with tanks to not feel powerless against them and lose matches because one side dominates tanks. There was a balance between infantry and tanks before and it still wasn’t easy to kill good tanks but now it is completely broken such that they don’t even need to be decent anymore

By making the tank faster and more durable you actually reduce the volume of stuff it's killing, but the benefit is increased decisiveness where it dies kill stuff. This is a really good change.

You got 4 diffrent armour types from very light to heavy and then the cannons with AP rounds and the penetration for these armor types.
A cannon of equal level can penetrate the armor of its level and below (with some exeptions for angels etc) without issue.
Doesn't need to go too deep just be able to damage armor with proper positioning and shot placement

That's about what's in game now. The panther even has a "weakspot". The turret cheeks beside the gun mantlet (shown in my discord profile) can be penned by a medium.
I know AT weapons started to get pretty useless later on since the panzerkamfwagen IV was very sturdy and especially tigers

I think players need to just learn how to SL correctly. You won't be Mister Man on the frontlines just because you're SL. You need the squad you're given to fill the roles and solve the problems

Not sure what's the opinion on new players getting into SL from that start. Not going to lie, i'm no master tactician or claim i know what to do all the time, but i'm kinda tired of not knowing what the squad is doing because the SL is silent or just mindlessly pushing points all the time, while squads just come from flanks and no one turns around. At the same time i just don't feel like i should lead 5 other people while i'm just a measly newbie

It's encouraged for new players to learn the ins and outs of the game first. Only after that will people usually accept learning SL. You also need to actually want to learn and take feedback from the vets. @weary vine

I have SL 9 and still have no idea on good garrison placement. No one ever taught me and I didn't see the need to learn when I almost only play roaming defense as SL.

My issue is that i'm starting to not enjoy the process of learning the game. I barely do anything because everywhere i go i just fail to push or shoot anything. I always ask stuff and accept vets suggestions and advice but i just don't get anything of that

I would do defense gladly i think no knows the joys of fending off impossible numbers of people. Issue is that i'm caught alone against entire squads. So it feels pretty hopeless
Call squad to defense. If they don't listen, kick them. Especially kick players who don't talk at all unless they are following orders like a good little soldier. You're the Squad Leader. They should be listening to you. Feel more entitled and throw your weight around.

There's very little direction, and even tho server rules say "use mic if you're SL" admins don't enforce it at all
If a new player takes the role as SL and wishes to learn in text or voice I'm happy to help them, as for suggestions, make sure AA method is not Standard it's got depth of field on so swap to COmmunity TAA or clarity, set the ADS FOV to 60, then from there find a squad that you gel with and enjoy the game.
Expect to die a lot it's not what this game is about, dying can be infuriating if it's not your liking move away from the front line and go flanking, there's a lot you can do. Set yourself your own goals within the match, Holding a junction road stopping a push, to pushing from a different angle to weaken the meatgrinder on the front line.
More importantly play the game as you like, if someone asks you politely to not do what you're doing for certain reasons, for example jumping onto an AT gun they made, but also always ask and be upfront, new want to learn. Most people will tend to help you.

I wouldn't set scope to 60. It literally gives you zoom and enhance cliche. It's a plague. I would agree IF and only IF, they limit the max FOV relative to minimum so if you get zoom and enhance, you can't instantly see everything around you after zooming out.

Makes sense, i've been doing it very classic, rifleman until i know the ins and outs of the flow of the battlefield. Especially map routes and safe spots to flank and push. I even brought the issue of lacking any direction in squads and how silent they are mostly, and i got greeted with the "be part of the solution", but again, it's a catch 24, i'm a new player, i cannot take lead of a squad just yet

it also shows which servers are good and which aren't. Admin responsiveness is a key factor that makes community better than official servers
I really hate people pushing new players to learn rifleman only, literally all roles are rifleman with an extra step. Go support it teaches you more and as long as you're willing to drop suppies for your SL now and again that's all that matters. Teaches you map awareness, good garrisons placements and you level up quickly, also some servers are catred to helping new players into the game while also allowing higher level players come in too. Just look around for a server that says they welcome new players.
Jorvik, I should also mention I don't mean to never change FOV. I have mine 75, 105. Any more and it feels like I'm cheating
I see rifleman only for the first two or three games. Learn gunplay, get a feel for the game as a whole, then change to help the squad

They can learn gunplay with any other role, it's not teaching them anything that another shooter doesn't. Honestly, jump in and try it, you won't learn anything if you stick to a rifleman.
I mean learn only gunplay so they can focus on it since they are brand new to the game. If they choose something else, they may be overwhelmed with mechanics right away
Not everyone will be, but this way we could umbrella all new players into a sort of learning experience
If you're struggling to find a friendly server for a new player you're welcome to join the FT&C server. It's not seeded at the moment but will be seeded in an hour or so. Jump in plenty of regulars there and we don't accept new player bashing.

No worries, I can't promise you'll have an amazing experience but people are willing to help new players and no one will chew you out for being an SL or whatever role you're playing if you're trying, It usually ends up them being vote kicked out if they take it too far. just be mindful of the guy who owns it, complete arsehole. Admins are okay.

I seem to have to install and uninstall the experimental branch on steam by checking the box in the options menu anytime I want to switch back and forth. Is this how it is, or am I doing something wrong?
After 1,000 hours on Xbox PC, I made the switch to steam. It's only $13 on Steam right now. Just the rip the bandaid. the game runs better over here.

this game desperatly needs an audio buff. After coming back to this game from reforger spearhead the guns sound comically low. a gun shot should be deafening. it should pearce your ear and drown out every single thing around you. you should not be able to talk and shoot at the same time

i unironically beleive that the us army's switch to full power rifle rounds at the expense of less ammo is actually probably the correct decision
less ammo means soldiers won't waste as much or they're in it deep. Better trigger discipline plus heavier hitting round. makes perfect sense

I still think it's crazy high, even if every single combatant was counted on both sides. If you wait for that perfect one shot one kill, the enemy unloading HELL at you will probably hit you first
plus rounds aren't always fired to kill, lots of times it's to keep the enemy heads down so your team can move or some other tactic

i'll give you the short version
irl youre taking 13+ mags to battle irl dudes just shoot at the direction of the enemy to supress
Irl you also have an actual army's worth of soldiers so mass fire actually works
It could work well in game too but too many people are afraid to give away their position like they haven't been running the same line for the last 20 minutes
an ultra hardcore realism mode would really revive this game and get it popping
No hud, no friendlys on map, no friendly floating name tags, just using your eyes like irl, gunshots terrifying loud and drown out everything else(just increase the audio) and you got a terrifying intense realistic game mode
purpose: get people to shoot more
visual aspect: reduce situational awareness to the periphery by decreasing fov when under the effects of suppression (better at identifying somone shooting infront of you, at the expense of seeing less to the sides/flank)
screen effects communicate the direction of enemy fire
contextually increases the difficulty of aiming
being near teammates increases the rate at which you recover from suppression
being near friendly fortifications decreases the cap of suppression
someone dying next to you greatly increases suppression (rewards accurate suppression fire)
effects should contextually linger for a long enough time to be impactful, must follow consistent behavior
I would love this but I also understand it would be incredibly niche. Most people play games because they are games. If people wanted hyper realism milsim stuff, Arma always exists

Directional suppression sounds interesting enough. I can imagine people being able to abuse it though by flicking to the exact direction and unloading
they could do that, but the chance of actually hitting anything would be low

If someone is playing a shooter and is asking these, they have a handicap mentally. I'm sorry that's just it. Suppression has been a very well known mechanic even if it's not in every shooter.
thats why its a game mode… a seperate game mode
tbf though reforger doesn't have suppression. The bullets cracking overhead or around you forces you to actually listen to the sounds and think "oh no! let's take cover"
the downside to mechanics like these is it's very difficult in hll to commincate these effect through the game, instead they must be commincated through word of mouth

for example, it may or may not still be a mechanic that being near a medic reduces suppression currently
it's impossible to know if the devs removed it by accident silently
All the more reason to read the combat manual. Learn the game you're playing, don't just wing it and expect to do good because you're a "COD movement king" or some other made up title
the spearhead server does and thats really the only true war game out there. The sounds make u scared irl. The sounds give a supression of their own as well. Literally gets my hear racing and blood pumping

So if you've not voted on it, go do so, more people, more weight behind this.
Oh that's funny. You think a player initiated vote in a suggestions channel will mean anything when they've already modeled, remodeled (kv-2), and tweaked the SPA over 3-4 experimental updates.

Not sure what is with this weird aggressive reply to me, but here's the thing, what you just talked about literally has no bearing on what the suggestion is, which is number changes, of course a possible rework to the firing mechanic itself and the one point about your mortar thing, they're not modelled or even a sign of them, these have been and are in the game working, so it's more likely to have these reclassified as the intended role.

I'm getting an "authentication timed out" error when streaming the game from my PC to my Steam Deck. Seems weird because that's typically an anti cheat problem. I don't get it on my PC I'm streaming from.
They had time to make what, 5 new entire vehicles, they could make 5 new tube that are a fraction of the complexity to model .
A skilled modeler could probably have one done in an hour
I'll tell you why I'm pushing this as I am across all mediums is because this is the first time they really have pushed the boat with communication, here and behind the scenes with community leaders. So with that said after seeing that change I'm actually going to hold them to their word on listening and responding to our feedback and if we don't try then we'll see nothing out of it.
People can be mad about the past and such and I think we should give them this opportunity to address our concerns and considering my post has the most feedback by a mile compared to any other previous feedback posts, shows it resonates with the community, albeit we're a small sample, because not everyone goes to Reddit, Discord, Twitter, etc etc however this is probably their biggest sample to date at least publicly in this discord.
So with that said I'm happy for people to share it, to vote they don't care either way, vote it to stay as same or vote for the changes I put forward, this is all feedback for T17, good or bad I don't mind what stance you fall on it.
I've already voted that I want the change if they insist on pushing these new vehicles. Unfortunately, that would cut the "rework" of artillery by a large amount of force them to do something else which I seriously doubt they would do.

Smoke is underused because it takes too long to load these things, if they had a shorter load them, it could be used to mask themselves or blind the enemy tank to possibly escape a situation, which would be fine considering their weakness to frontal attacks from AT infantry of the german faction.
I tend to use smokes to pre blind spots I expect enemies to be so I can push. It's give or take on using it reactively. Main reason smoke grenade launchers were and still are a thing

Smoke has so much use, but in a situation you want to blind an enemy tank to confuse crew and gain an upper hand it's just not possible, On top of that tracking tanks means nothing when their chassis rotation is still pretty damn good.
If all tanks got the IS1 gear 1 treatment, they'd not be able to turn on a dime when tracked and locked into Gear 1. Allowing for a vehicle to flank and take on a win in an interesting game of cat and mouse.
Smoke is useless. Any good crew will kill you if you use smoke.
smoke's only really useful if you intend to use it and have the advantage. If you need to reactively use it, it takes too much time

From a gameplay design it makes sense, it's a non combative round, there's no real reason to not have it's reload reduced, it's not like you can load a smoke then load a AP round to gain a win since the original time for the AP round would take it's original time to load. It's just giving the Sherman that utility it has to compensate for it's frontal weaker armour.
I can understand from a gameplay perspective but I still like historical accuracy. I would assume you would have smoke loaded already when engaging. Even if the smoke load time is reduced, if you load it in the middle of combat, chances are it wouldn't do much since the enemy already has sights on you
Now you just have one less round from you sent against the enemy while they just fire again

The fact is from a historical point of view, the Sherman used smoke, in the game how many times do you see someone using the utility of that vehicle, everyone pretty much ignores it, because it takes too long to use it. I'd rather have it reduced time and have it's utility side of that vehicle be used just as much as it's offensive capabilities.

If I have multiple shells and they all load at the exact same time, would I use the non offensive shell or the offensive shell that's going to get me a kill in a situation. 2 turrets kill the turret and damage the hull, 3 turret hit kills the tank via hull damage

the tank was smoking and sparking. Could have been from the tracks but still. Turret is intact, it damages turret first and then the hull. The medium doesn't do as much damage so it makes sense it would take 3 rounds to kill
If smoke had reduced loading time, it would be used more and it would have it's uses and make for interesting gameplay, have you ever seen a Sherman support a heavy to smoke an enemy heavy tank to maybe give it's advantage. I understand where you're coming from, but at same time wouldn't you like more utility to be used from that vehicle as well.

More utility would be giving smoke grenade launchers to tanks.
there are very precise things to know in HLL that you just don't - very few people care to learn - even the devs don't know what the heck their game is actually about
That is an option but we're not there yet so this is a solution to have that utility, otherwise it's an overlooked tool that no one uses for reasons I've said above.

I mean you have infantry spawning at best 11 seconds otherwise 20 seconds who can keep returning to kill a tank and relay info. A dead soldier can't come back to fight you again and a dead soldier can't relay info to his team. I think giving shermans the utilty to use a smoke shell in less time isn't breaking the game.

you gain the cap by reducing the enemies. Reduce the enemies by making sure they can't come back to contest you on the cap

more tickets = less reduction necessary
if you hold the cap, they are attacking and you, defending. The scenario changes slightly
in that case, control your area around the cap and they can't contest
either way, tickets control the objective - whether attackign or "defending"
the less enemies in the four grid the less infantry you need in the hardcap to secure it, the more economical use of force

Positioning, and map control is key to this game. I've seen some comp players come in get dozen kills their impact was minimal, since they're just focusing on a certain aspect of it.

What people don't realize they can probably get far more experience by playing defense. This game is unlike others where you get tons of points or experience just for capping.

Not true. You take the amount of zones for the win and then play defense. Take one extra zone over the winning zone then play defense and rack up astronomical experience. This holds true for all classes.

I personally while playing never give up. My goal in games is to never die if possible. I usually in the end have the best squad and myself the best player. That is when I was playing daily. My squad was also usually the top 3 available items.

So in my case you can see the .bak one. Open with notepad and see if it has all the proper settings. You might be able to call the .ini like .old and then remove the .bak and enter game and see if it's the right settings returned.

If you try to play 80+ minutes only defense, you are not allowed to make a singular mistake or you will lose the game. HLL is all about momentum and pressure and the team that attacks is most of the time the team that has those.

If they receive the "enlisted treatment" people would just spam it with 3 explosive ammo boxes from a hiding spot
Basically, it would be unfun to go against and a spam click simulator to win points

Atleast the HQ arty drains resources from the TL, But a mortar? You can just replenish the ammo over and over again and redeploy if you can't get more
HQ arty+mortars would be a nightmare to go against

Why would you use that option when you have mortars that don't waste resources and another one that only wastes 3 per shot?
If we assume that the Max Mortar range Is toned down from the IRL mortars (let's say 500M-400m Max range) now even if the recon focuses on them it would be not only annoying to try and find them, But also a waste of time, because if we kill them they'll Respawn with full ammo on any of the garrys, on the HQ arty you know what they'll do and where they're going to spawn
Just like horses, mortars sound like a good idea, But when you think about it... It would be a nightmare to balance correctly on a game like HLL

I bet they would have to rewrite a lot of code to make each mode a special version of the game. Not happening XD
Because it requires a lot of effort to make a defensive line. If you don't have people getting ready for the next point you lose fast. One major problem is that players can roam in inactive zones destroying spawns and sabotaging any defences. It should work like breakthrough from Battlefield where attackers cannot enter unlocked territory. There should be default spawns for each zone.
They're too busy adding tank skins to monetize dying game and testing this mechanism for the upcoming HLL:V.
And it's usually the more experienced players who understand the crowd mentality and what they are against and keep preparing spawns for the rest of the team so the game does not suck. But these players are taking a pause cause the game or servers crashes and broken updates. Or they're just weary of the lack of improvement over the years. And if there are not any game makers you end up with 15-25 min running simulator.
And let's not forget about the dumb players who think they're playing warfare mode.

I usually see people rocket pvp if there aren't tanks nearby. Normally the rocket sails and an enemy rocket comes back in response

Tbf the constant respawn with full health mechanic can be stopped by starting with no ammo, needing someone to actually drop the ammo, and making infantry carried ammo very limited, forcing ammo drops via jeep which was suggested at one point and I thought was good.

U19 is a deal breaker for me. They keep asking for feedback now and if they do the exact opposite the community servers must stop running... let them foot the bill for servers and deal with cheaters :]

I hope they see this side of the issue. It's not just that players can't play, but someone paid for the servers where they would normally play.. I hope they offer refunds to those who bought the game after U18 and their game keeps crashing... You can't keep saying "Thank you for your patience" forever tbh.

With their current approach, this is really not a good look for them. If they don’t care about user experience, bug fixes, QoL updates, and game balance, who’s actually going to trust them enough to buy the next title after this?
