It is well known to cause the error and has for several years. As each update comes out the assets are becoming more and more and it ends up timing out which is what causes the error. Some may still be lucky enough to have it work but for a long while now it's just best to move to SSD. So what might have worked for some for the first few years stopped working a couple years back. The 2 items I gave were the most well known fixes for "Lost Connection To Host", before the U18 update. They've now fixed most of those but the original will still cause the error.

It's best to only use regular HDD for storage and not for gaming. Same holds true for OS.
Nowadays, HDDs only should get used to store data; they are too slow to handle modern games

Munitions node buff isn't that relevant though since you can always redeploy to get more ammo.
Manpower node buff isn't that relevant because you can just switch with someone else

I'd rather keep playing support and use the manpower node rather than switch around. And redeploying might keep me dead for even ~~ 50~~ 60 seconds, plenty of time to miss an airhead or such
And I only play solo, mostly to just get kills and have fun. There is ofc a moderate effort for to play the objective with other people.
But if you want me to look for a squad on discord, get a mic (which I can't because people are sleeping close to me) and coordinate like sweat tryhard no piss off I'm not doing that.

its a game designed around teamwork, hence one role places supply box whilst others build etc

If you're looking for kills, then playing the objective is better than not anyway
Stay in cap sectors, go where enemies are, get kills. Probably the most effective player on the field in a pub game by successfully doing those three things
Stay away from friendly players and you'll get all the kills for yourself when you inevitably stumble on an enemy flank attempt. Rather go in as a squad though, away from other squads.

mic only = explain ppl sleeping but you can hear and understand them, will use ping wheel and squad chat
level restrictions = for your own good so you dont get kicked for lack of teamwork / comms

Build them farthest from your first cap point and so they are still within the first sector. That means you need to drop 3x supply box, ask for supply drop or drop supplies with the Supply Truck as soon as you can entering the second sector so you have 50m to build them in the first. You also want to build them further apart so they can't be blown by a single satchel.
Nodes would disappear just like spawns when enemy captures that sector. It is important to build it in the first sector so you don't lose them unless destroyed when the enemy captures your second last point.

instead of that HQ arty gun, we have needed **mortars **buildable/deployable anywhere so the recon squads can actually search for them

What I expect from U19:
- postpone SPA release (nobody asked for it nor it solves any issues with arty)
- finish and tune tank rework based on exp branch feedback
- finish Smolensk
- fix bugs introduced with U18
- mitigate client crashes
- mitigate server crashes/DDoS attacks
- finish rconV2 so it has getters for all setters and is having everything that was available in rconV1

How about being able to build static artillery on each HQ and reduced its range to reach +- half the map and if you want to use arty offensively you need to pull out SPAs?

Crying about arty that has been a part of this game since day 1 is crazy work. It is one of the few games that ever did arty lovers any justice. I self taught myself how to solo on the big gun during many late lonely nights in rememberance of my grandfather who manned a Howitzer during the war and then came home and drank himself to death.
Screw t17 for butchering the game some of us loved for what it was and the ones who supported it from the start.
Static artillery for defending your points and if you want to attack you need to roll with SPAs. One artillery squad should be enough imo.
1400m is a bit on square over middle sector
And each SPA could feel differently e.g. german will be more accurate but smaller splash, the british one used to have very small reach but could have larger splash, ...

the french artillery will have 4 reverse gears up to 40kmh etc
Way too late in this dying game's life cycle to be doing all this changing of core mechanics. Half of the ideas even getting thrown around anymore should be for a HLL2 if they ever do it. Fix the crashes and stutters. That is the only thing the game has ever needed first and foremost before messing with anything else or adding more stuff on top of the broken foundation.

Well it's about to be a lot worse or unused now at this rate.
Worst part of the live service model of gaming was how they pitched it to us decades ago that it will be a way to fix bugs and polish it all up to make it better post-release, but what we get most of the time is this: you buy a game because you enjoy the gameplay as it was made, then one day you wake up and they turned it into a different game entirely, overnight, and changed or got rid of things you found engaging and fun.
Changing and making things different doesn't always mean better, either.
Agreed, they have to do something the Sherman 105mm has two mgs, whilst the Brummbär has none.
From the perspective of an outsider, I think the best call would be to scrap static artillery in favour of a dedicated mortar squad (and light handheld mortars as a regular infantry class) and make the artillery strike a commander call-in
No offense but I'm not sure why someone who openly admits they aren't even an HLL player would have their thoughts or ideas considered by anyone. I truly mean no offense but it sounds backwards to me to say the least. Part of the problem with this game and dev team.

- You play with your buddies, good updates, people buy skins to support the game
- 25% of your buddies can't play the game due to crashes or broken mechanics - start playing another game
- New updates don't fix the underlying issues, add features nobody asked for
- 50% of your buddies are already playing different games, having no hope left
- You start mostly playing different games with your buddies
- YOU ARE HERE
- Communities crumble - fewer and fewer community servers are available and you are left to play on non-moderated public servers
- HLL Vietnam released and people complain that neither HLL nor HLL:V is playable
- You are sipping on your favourite bevvy posting "I told you so" memes
Lets not be shocked when a 6 to 7 year old games starts dying.

Do you know how many nights I spent getting wrecked by snipers in HQ as the solo arty guy on the team and never cried about they should change it? To me, the loop on either end of it was genuinely fun and a situation you needed to adapt to and try to counter.
It was never the huge problem the whiners made it out to be. If it was that bad, you get a few guys to run security back there to defend HQ.
And in comp, none of it matters because there are rules for arty players and for recon not being allowed to kill them, etc.
There was zero reason to reinvent the wheel.

4 recon + 6 artillery guys from each team would take 20 players of 100 out of the actual game. You being a weirdo that enjoys getting spawncamped is one thing, detracting gameplay is another. Although I'd also remove recon, or at least remove their ability to destroy garrisons, because their secondary meta is also completely detracting
It's bad enough that the developers clearly don't even play their own game tbh. Certainly they have never spent a single night in an xbox party of 6 or more trying to enjoy their night. They would instantly be able to see that the focus should be on fixing it so what already exists actually works consistently instead of worrying abour dynamic weather, new maps, reworking tanks, or changing arty altogether. Completely detached from reality when half the maps in the game run at 10 fps and drop to 3 fps at times before they crash sometimes multiple times per match
How is that taking people out of the game when the arty is either stopping your attack or you are dealing with them? It is literally part of the game. Makes no sense.
The reason for there being 1 arty rules was because we used to have whole squads dedicated to playing a really boring minigame off to the side of the actual match about killing and protecting arty, it was horrible and incredibly boring.
Arty does need changing, SPA just isn’t it
I'd rather have those players in the field as infantry squads or more tanks, rather than jumping through silly hoops or hunting garrisons, which is very cheap gameplay.
That's what their job came to be because of the mechanics. It cant be a desirable outcome since the game was originally envisioned as a game of frontlines. In the kickstarter, the number of recon squads was limited to 1 per team too
Recon can’t kill arty if it’s defended in the way we used to, which means you then end up having to find ways to rocket snipe or cross map tank kill the arty, which in turn leads to people working to counter that and so on.
Having 6-10 guys per team just doing that, plus the 3 arty gunners each.
It was awful
Also they did make it so that garrisons in locked territory take much longer to dismantle. Even had them invulnerable at one point. Recon hunting garris clearly was not intended.
So you just rework comp rules as needed to make it fun and fair. No problem. The problem is ruining the average experience for the guys who have been playing a game for years and jump in for a game for a pub, whether or not they have friends on. I just don't like reinventing the whole wheel when people have spent years learning the ins and outs of a game.
Pushes people away and does more harm than good
Most players know nearly nothing about the game, that goes for comp players too, making arty still useful but less strong and less of an integral factor in a team winning or losing is a good thing
This game has absolutely 0 variety in how to win, pubs or comp it’s exactly the same

And, yeah years into a game a lot of people who care or are diehard players have figured out the meta and it will show. That is every game with a comp aspect ever really.

The damage of infantry at rockets needs to be proportional to it's availability relative to the tank.
Since the availability is basically infinite, it should do infinitely little damage per rocket.
As stated, comp has rules to negate the normie arty loop. This is a bad change for the game as a whole.

Thats an issue but I dont think for arty. You get 2 new special squads, which in pub game will probably we gone in the first 2 second like with recon. The people then being in these squads are either mates or there is a higher chance they know what they are doing.

Man Smolensk is a gorgeous map. Haven’t been able to get into a high pop game yet but I spent about 45 min wandering around and it looks incredible.
Theoretically yall are making sense, but in reality in the actual game it doesn't pan out. Hell, when I get spotter or sniper in a pub, I would say at least 85% of the time the other guy has no mic or know what they are doing. Usually, it is a low level that just wants to use his CoD quickscope brain and nothing else.

Most of the time in pubs spotter is already taken by someone at least level 80 ( as it the minimun level on the server if not the bot throws you out of the squad) and its almost everytime blocked so if someone that doesnt talk enters in sniper they get thrown out of the squad instantly. Peak hell let loose moment is when they get into a tank squad, 50% of the time they don't get to even enter the tank, 45% they don't manage to start the tank, and the other 5% they leave the tank stuck in some random trench outside of the spawn

Soviet tanks are also pretty strong, specially T-34, british cronwell is basically a faster Pz 4, and the churchill is slow af but at least the tracks count as armor

My only issue with brit guns is that most of them don't vibrate my controller when I shoot. I have that on and my muscle memory is used to it and has been for many years. The lack of feedback actually turns me into a potato.

I cant remember if I was in comp at that time. What year was it? Either way, I'm pretty sure that at the time I was against locked garris too. Cant remember. Either way, to dislodge a stalemate there ought to be a better way than silly garrison hunting that takes people away from the front to hunt and guard them. I'd rather buff the halftrack tremendously then

Or rather than buffing tanks that can equally work in defense, give the commander some ability that gives them a chance every 10-15 minutes for an offensive, like reducing spawn and deathscreen times to half for a few minutes

How though, if you look at certain cap layouts where the strongpoint is so close to the locked area, you just build 1-2 garries as 100% safe backups.
Add the factor in, that at the same time you werent allowed to build redzone garries. You just mindlessly grinded your way forward.
Indestructible spawns is the worse thing you can do, in a game were the players have the agency to set their own spawns.
What if indestructible garris had 80 seconds redeploy time and the waves of all garris, or at least ones in sector, were synced?
Besides, you could still disable the spawn by being near it

no. Protecting and managing your network is as much part of the game as everything else. And it's probably one of the bigger difference in skill between each team.
It's only important because it's made so fragile. I'd rather cut out the busywork and give attackers more tools, like stronger suppression, and the spawn-killing SPA that we are getting
Yeah because that always works and nobody is hunting for you. You know what we did in that meta? We had paint with the map open and marked it on the map for later use. If we ever manage to cap a point.
Attackers would also benefit from less accurate and deadly guns, since it'd make pushing less of a risk. Or better smokes that last longer and obscure more. Smoke artillery ability pls

If the spawns are up and people are actually playing the map, I’ll play the full 90, if I look at the map and there’s 1 Garry and nothing else to spawn on that’s even remotely useful I’m gone

100m is pretty hard, the sheels curve to much on that range to hit anything. Its either under 50m or above 200, otherwise pure luck if you hit or not.

i see. but because the barrel is so short, that 150mm projectile is probably going to lose velocity rather quickly. thinking on another note now though i think the way there is no turret will emphasize more on squad communication, especially gunner and driver which is arguably really good
the SPA seems very fun though, particularly on open maps. just stay right behind the frontline and lob things just over the next ridge, like into olegs house on kursk. what's the enemy going to do, rush a light tank at you over the hill?

I also like the concept of SPA. It gives light tanks and recon tanks an actual job of hunting these things instead of just always being a rat around the point

coax means it's locked to the main gun. a ball mount isnt a co ax
