That’s just how the game is. If you want people to consistently use mics you have to join a clan or group. Otherwise it’ll be silent 70% of the time

Planes would take a lot of dev time, time i rather would see the devs spend on reworks and fixes. Also it wouldnt fit, planes are a commander ability, take it away and commander gets less interesting and impactful. Not even to start that they would have to add AA and stuff as a counter....

imagine... if portion of the team takes the tanks, arty, some are building, some are in recon squads far away... and if some would take even planes, what would be left of the fighting infantry? Also, the maps are well-enough modelled only within 2x2km. Outside there is nothing, the devs would have to get some substantial amount of detail ouside the map too... just for the planes.

HLL just got under 3600 (Steam) players. If anybody still thinks the drop was due the summer holidays, think again 😏 .
Currently 2000 players on Steam, 300-400 on other platforms. So the playercounts only show what I was trying to point out even in the summer, but got declined with "it's summer" argument.
Hopefully it's clear now - the downtrend is there and is not stopping yet.

It's not about the time - Steam playercounts show avg and peaks.

That was just for the comparison of ratios of Steam vs different platforms.
The numbers may be different in the evening, but the ratio usually holds.
The point was that Steam chart is still a very reliable source to see the trends (downtrend in this case).
And that the trend keeps going down.
We'll see how it is when the update comes out. The map probably won't attract too much attention, but hopefully the "new mechanics" (whatever that is) will. It will have to be a big one though and hopefully not the tinkerer, otherwise the downtrend may very well even increase.

But I have been wondering - do we know about any other "brand new mechanics" apart of the mobile arty and tinkerer? Something behind the scenes?

New player xp is atrocious, it was always carried by the community and when the community was watered down beyond repair the devs did not step up sufficiently to improve the systems to be more intuitive
Nobody taught us either, many players are just disinterested bandwagoners who wont learn even if they could simply read a guide that didn't exist for us. Much less try things out themselves in the practice range that also didn't exist for us. In 2019 the peak player count was 1500 interested players. I'd rather have that than 150,000 casuals.

Also I think it's quite inevitable for any game. If you're not among the first ones, among the first wave of interest, it'll never be the same. Everything is already discovered and the gap between a new player and a good one is dozens of times greater than in the beginning. It's very demotivating.
This discord has ~15k people "online" probably at any given time, and several times more offline, and there's just the same dozen guys here every day
I get that, I just have the feeling that the already existing community could've been more proactive in regards to helping newbies.

I recently tried a few games and the communities I joined were very helpful and nice. Still demotivating to play compared to a casual match. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like helpfulness isn't relevant at all. Maybe even detrimental? Maybe people would rather have an abusive drill instructor to guide them.

The tinker system is not only badly named, it's tonally deaf to the expectations of the playerbase

Imo best case scenario is they make these data points modular to the point where it's "as realistic as possible" within game sense but able to be balanced quickly

HLL traditionally is "approachable realism" which is like easy controls but somewhat based in realism

They should take inspiration from S44. It has amazing tank play. Where smaller tanks actually make a difference with a good crew. And a heavy tank will get destroyed if it has a lower skilled crew.
Just give it to all roles and call it a day 🙂
I'd like it if tank duels weren't so on/off. If you lose, you lose hard, regardless of how the situation on the map is. If you got satcheled near friendlies and it only killed the crew and damaged the tank, it wouldn't be a total loss. If tinkering included salvaging wrecks, a loss in friendly-controlled territory wouldn't be so bad.

All of the 75 and 57mm allied guns can actually pierce the front plate of a Tiger at the ranges most HLL tank battles happen. At the very least, theyd spall the crew to death

Well, only for satchels it'd just be an upgrade for a tankers life. Rather only lose the crew and recover the tank than lose everything. The only problem is that empty tanks could get lost on the field, vehicle cap is reached, and there's no way to despawn them. There really should be a way to destroy friendly vehicles even now.
Crew kills are realistic. It is effectively a mission kill and should be a thing. The frequency of it happening in S44 is the problem

Yes the player count is low. You can still reliably get 2 or 3 games a night as you would on HLL because whether you like it or not, 200-300 players is enough to keep 2 or 3 servers going.

You THINK it is, but when you play an actual game you realize
- germans are the only ones with 2 heavy tanks (no 75 jumbo does not count)
- once your teams heavy tank is down its 10 min of every tank your team has dying in one hit no matter what with no counter
- your infantry just gets spammed by the other teams (germans) 2 heavy tanks and several other med/light tanks
then you just rage quit. That's the reality if you have that as of today.
Now if EVERY team had 2 heavy tanks- mediums were actually viable and able to somehow counter, then yes i agree with you. but in HLL as of right now, no. Turret speed doesnt matter when you die in one shot anyway to a heavy b/c again.. you cannot get away from a "good" heavy team in HLL. They are just going to sit back and wait for you to peak everytime
For factions with just one type of heavy, the logical consequence is that they can have two of the same type.

You're getting too bogged down in specifics.
Answer this question, why should a team have access to the best tank in the game whenever they want without limitation, where the consequence is making other tanks irrelevant to buy.
You've tried to appeal three times to date and we've decided to uphold the ban after reviewing, so unfortunately I think we will have to decline yet another appeal attempt.
How long ago was the original ban and the last appeal?
the specifics are important for sure b/c that's gameplay wise how it's going to play. you should always think about gameplay over realism imo.
to answer your question, it's a game it has to be fun.
HLL is not a full milsim, its an approachable realstic game. When you look at squad 44, it's TOO realistic and it bogs down the experience. That's why that game is struggling with player count
I don't know but frankly I'm not going to spend my time digging for it when we've already made a decision on it multiple times now.

I'm asking you to approach this from a design perspective.
If heavy tanks are not limited, they become the only meaningful player choice all the time. By heavies being essentially unlimited you are reducing the amount of viable, meaningful player decisions to make.
The performance of heavy tanks justifies limitations on availability. The max allowable performance of the unit must be proportional to it's availability. Since heavy tanks are highly available now, they are less powerful than they could be if they were less available.

Lethal AT needs to be locally limited to match the local nature of the tank.
I would put rocket launchers into it's own squad similar to recon with a limit of 2-3 squads. This limits the location of lethal at to 2-3 OPs plus 8 garrisons. This means that a tank can directly counter infantry at by either moving to a location where there are no at OPs, or by destroying them with direct fire to force relocation from a garrison.
Mobility or firepower disabling at should be be widely available as it is now.
Now, in regards to heavy tank vs other tanks/assets it becomes more complicated to address because there's more dimensions to the design.

I think that's fine, but i dont think those squads should be "soley" at squads ( not sure what your thought is of what that squad scope looks like but im assuming a regular squad type with like supply guy/at etc)
but i'm cool with that, so long as it doesnt promote just back line AT squads running around everywhere. Should be directly tethered to other assets like a support needing more ammo/etc. In no way should there ever be something that promotes more solo play
(cough cough... SPA's?.... arty...... etc)
But the basic principle is eliminating the value of the enemy tank should have equal cost.

All tanks are viable in pummeling the strongpoint. Rockets should deviate a lot at range so that 600m rocket snipes wouldn't be a thing. Mediums should not be killed by 2 rockets from the front, either tweak hp/dmg or make a new state between alive and dead

That angle of attack should be alot less forgiving for example if it can pen the front of a tank. it should be a straight 90 degree angle to pen

I know the number 2 per team (never confirmed by official sources) has been thrown around a lot, but the language used during the dev brief (207) is unclear and leaves a lot of room for interpretation. It's 1 heavy per team. Kill it, and you have 10 minutes time to pressure the enemy. That's the point.
If you have saved up 1200 fuel for 2..Assuming they stay at 600. You can spawn two,since the timer counts from death

2-3 heavies isnt that rare to see on the field, so we'd be looking at... 4-6 extra halftracks per match
