Well, you're fighting over 2 points, but yes, you can fight anywhere in the map.
(You defend one point, while attacking another, all other points are locked from capture - besides the beginning where you fight for a mid point in a neutral zone)

the hopes are that the regular artillery will be removed after the overhaul is fully finished (and hopefully it will include the mortars too)

Plenty of games have proven that you can do side grades well

Soviet Union faction is fine for the timeframe except the IS1, but the Germans would have needed some work and proper 1942-43 uniforms and Equipment
allegedly the entire release of brits was like super corporate stuff, the map and weapon selection was totally dictated by some boss's surface level understanding of british ww2 things, and so we got an unplayable desert location that had to be gamified, a bridge battle map that never happened irl, a weapon roster of 50% weapons that the british army didn't use. etc

not a good argument. bad accuracy is bad accuracy, and we already have plenty weapons that weren't used in ETO in ww2, cosmetics that didn't exist, and a korean war helmet

my preference would be like how it is in forgotten hope 2. Every map has a roster of generally unique loadouts for each class. So say on Omaha the german autorifle guy doesn't get an STG but only an MP and supports get G41 at most. And then on Hurtgen with troops which historically had lots of firepower you'd maybe even have two STGs and semi-autos in the loadouts of a squad, etc

unironically I do think more roles need loadouts with just the standard rifle, particularly grenadier loadout for assault, no reason for that to be a straight upgrade for most factions

team recognition isnt going to be a problem unless you turn the friendly blip render distance down or enable occlusion for it
I have the friendly blip turned down to like 50m and the squad one on 100m.

friendly fire is unfortunately not forgiving enough to grant me turning markers down too much

I've had many times where I've mistaken enemies as friendlies because of the blips being positioned in a very unfortunate manner, or straight up been unable to see who shot me because of them

Was in the PTE to see how people like the concepts of both objective-explosion-mode and the concept of objective-based goals.
Yeah, the concept is good, but not as a stand-alone gamemode. Just implement it into the OFFENSIVE and/or add the TNT into some new loadout(s), maybe even for the recon squad as a tool to disable the artillery (if the arty guns were to stay... which I hope they won't), destroy AT guns and other non-big stuff.
The concept is amazing and im my opinion way better that any of the gamemodes we got currently.
Except maybe warfare because of flanking shenanigans
Its probably a hot take but I dont think offensive should use the entire map like it does now
it should just be sorta scaled down and more condensed

Offensive has a pacing issue mostly from the round timer but part of that aswell is the map size, the game has to accommodate the attacking team traveling the width of the map and similar to warfare huge portions of the map is just unused and empty.
I think offensive particularly or any future attack/defend styled mode the action should be condensed into a more focused area, enough room for 50v50 and flanking but not to the point its so large you get tons of unused space
the thought particularly comes from the beach landing maps, it always take me out of the moment when one guy can just flank the entire span of the beach where nothing is happening. Breaks the illusion of it actually being dday landings
it already can get very cramped but thats because there is only one point to cap, and when there were two points they were too far apart to really work well which is why it was reduced to one
One of the reason I like the whole map is variety, and yes, you can have those wide flank pushes. Some points are REALLY tough when it's literally edge of the map (IE Mont Halais on Carentan, West Bend on Foy).
I don't feel it's 'necessary' to have the 'illusion of actual D-Day landings', but that's my opinion. 🤷♀️

I scribbled this example a while back, but it could just be an alternative mode, garrisons are all pre-placed and change with point captures, only player deployable spawns are OPs
And yeah its nice having big maps but offensive particularly can drag for waaay too long since the round timer resets with every point capture
ideally it would just change to add 15 minutes instead of a reset
it would just be slightly smaller slivers of maps, ideally matches still lasting around an hour and a half at maximum, offensive at max can be like 2 hours and 30 minutes I think which is just too long.

Theoretical way a match could play out in such a mode
round starts allies come in on the boats and must take one of two points on the beach, when one is captured the next point close to that opens up and you can inact a sort of encirclement to secure the sector. Points could maybe be captured back to keep a sort of back and forth and so defenders cant always just do encirclements the whole time
Something like this could be done on a larger scale even and make some good use out of transport vehicles
theres just a lot of potential if they can unrestrict where points have to be placed in a map really and Im all for more unique modes
The deployment stuck 0 bug needs to be fixed asap
Beach landings is a pretty specific scenario though, one which is already being accounted for to an extent by not allowing people to spawn in other HQs until the first point is captured.

It happened a few times that I'd be defending mid point by having my squad in the red, and the attacker was coming from their top HQ. Either side just couldn't get through anywhere easily so the entire map width was in use, roughly one squad for one grid. It was great.
No teleports, just squads pushing what they can and creating opportunities as hills change hands
Old Alamein would've worked much better if red garrisons weren't as susceptible to being immediately overrun
The idea that you would need to use a larger portion of the map doesn't work when your spawn points only function effectively when placed against the enemy's front door
The map is kind of tiny regarding cover, so MGs, AT-guns and tanks from supporting squads can destroy the enemy and their spawns from quite far away, as soon as they get line of sight from the side. OPs and garris generally have cover only straight towards the enemy, there's almost always a way to shoot it from other angles. Then, when the strongpoint is flanked from two or more sides, it's just a matter of time before a shell gets their spawns too and you can walk in without much of a fight
What you are describing is an attacker's holy grail. If the defending team fails so badly as to get surrounded from all sides on Alamein out of all maps, then they don't just deserve to lose that one point
it happens over a period of time though, one hill leads to the next. like a cascade where taking one hill at the bottom of the map eventually flips every hill to you toward the strongpoint at the top of the map

assuming that both sides play equally, then it's what happens every time, it's just hard to discern what lead to the enemy losing one ground by one
It's not what happens, because defending is easier than attacking, and defending friendly territory is harder than defending enemy territory
If you play better than the enemy, logically you take ground and eventually you make it to the point. The challenge is maintaining that ground and keeping up pressure because otherwise, on paper, you're at a disadvantage.
And on Alamein in particular, because you have to cover long distances to go anywhere meaningful and spread yourself so thin in the process, doing so against any fair opponent will not work
As a defender you have ample opportunity to simply spawn in your own backline, walk 20 meters, and suddenly you cut off the whole attack's lifeblood because the attacker's red zone garrison is overrun.
You have to go wider though, otherwise the enemy will bypass you on the left or right and screw you from there. Eventually both teams hit map edge.
Eventually you're gonna have to make it back to the point anyway though. The wider you go the more opportunity of being cut off.
It's the attackers using airheads and red garris that are at great danger of getting cut off and farmed by a few guys, giving away all the ground they fought for.
Seen it happen too many times. Dont want to use red garris behind the enemy, just 100-200m into the red to carry the push
It'll go green and serve as a necessary ladder sooner or later
It's a risk/reward kind of thing. Generally the deeper you move it into the red the more likely it is to get overrun, but the greater the area you can cover. Putting it halfway is smart. But not a solution.
I think it's an unnecessary gamble. The attackers leave a gap on the map someplace else, and they're not supported by their tanks or other squads at all (and they get flanked by enemy defenders from all their spawns like you said). One squad should be fine though.

MG34 has the single 50 round mag, then double 100 round mag, then ammo belt (250?) for the final unlock
And MG42 only has the ammo belt unlock
irl both mg34 and 42 had only 50rnd drums
and belts up to 250 but those required a carrier
im pretty sure the fallschirmjager were the main ones that used the 50 round drum mags
sometimes a 50rnd belt was just used loose

but certainly not a longer one
this suggestion does not work when the mg is a laser beam that kills in no more than 2 hits from any distance.
If you add overheating, you're not doing anything but directly telling the shooter to only fire when he's got targets in his sight, to which if that's the case now, he's never going to be overheating anyway.
RO2 was the same way. The MGs had an overheating mechanic applied, but since the gunners know that -they shoot in bursts/taps in a way where they'd never overheat in any situation. It renders the whole mechanic as a non-issue and you've still got gunners that are effective, and probably more so effective now.

The mg player you hear shooting off hundreds of rounds consecutively is not the mg player that you should be worried about. So by suggesting an mg "nerf" to apply to that particular player isn't doing anything.
And on the contrary, a good MG players shoots 2-3 rounds towards targets he has sights on, gets the kill then waits for the next target. This sort of MG player will never be hampered by an overheat mechanic that is meant to "nerf" MGs. He will be just as effective whether or not there is an overheat applied.

Guys I have this issue lately where I will always load in forever the first time I join a server, I'll eventually lose connection to host and connect seamlessly the next time, also seems the map is already loaded it takes less time than it'd usually take. But why does it happen in the firstplace / any way to fix?

That should get some love whilst not being the only option. The MG42 was introduced in May 1942 to the DAK and a few months later on the eastern front which means it was available on all maps we have in the Game
Maybe make it lvl6 for the DAK, but removing it entirely doesn’t make any sense
MG42 was not in the area for El Al. It had just been introduced to units and was somewhere in Tunis
