I know the Circle has such double restriction, but there in the server name they include both the LVL25 and LVL50 requirements.
But true - the game/RCON should be able to decide before the player actually loads into the server and not after, whether the player is eligible to play in the server or not.

They would come with pros and cons... strong against the tanks yes (mostly just their cannon-wise ofc.), but mostly the German/Soviet ones would have to be turning the whole vehicle to aim as there are no turrets, while the US ones have open top and make the crew vulnerable even to infantry - they would need to keep their distance and to have a good view around the vehicle to stay safe.

BM promised the flamethrower tanks in the HLL Kickstarter. But that was never delivered and with the IP sold out, the KS promises are not rly bound to Team17 🫤 .
Oh and hey, armored recovery vehicles, drivable civilian vehicles, minefields... - just shows what direction the game was originally intended to go to especially when mixed with the original sector capture system (active sector active at a time) and original map size (full 2x2km) - more like a full hardcore shooter with milsim elements, instead of the casual shooter with a few HC elements we eventually got.

We have guns, we can't adjsut their sights or firing modes. We have resources & nodes, but there is no logic to the nodes. We have relatively large maps, but they are about just the selected objectives. We have tanks, but the damage model is as shallow as it can be (basically health bar that is just not visible). We have medics, but no depth to player damage model and dying doesn't matter. We have ammo boxes, but nobody needs them.

The original gamemode/sector capture was not predictable. When there were more objectives to cap to choose from, one could never know for which one the enemy could go 1st.
Today when we see which sectors are active, we know exactly where they will go and where the garrisons wil lbe at the same time.

a series of random unpredictable events is a garbage game. BM figured out really early on that these series of random, sparse interactions that players had with eachother made for incredibly stupid gameplay, which drove a lot of their decisions to change its gameplay
You’ve “beaten” the game by knowing it in and out. Now all that is left is “beating” the other players which you don’t find compelling. Literally all you want is enough changes that you can start learning again

I only vaguely remember something about map sizes upon the introduction of vehicles. Quickly learning of the players' ability to traverse the map via vehicles as opposed to just teleporting around on spawns proves their decision to not widen the maps was the correct choice. If anything, the maps need to be narrower

I think it is possible to make a milsim that checks the fun and milsim boxes at the same time… maybe if a AAA studio with a blank check went after it with some titans of game design… but it has not been made

Which obviously teaches you really quickly -and it’s a game design lesson, in that you can’t design for the absolute best case scenario in which you would expect that 100 players are somehow able to equally divide themselves into equal parts in order to play the game in the best way possible. . Obviously, clans can do that, but for a large number of players, who are also just getting used to organizing themselves generally, that expectation just was not working. We were watching games and games and games, and we were watching games in between clans, and still the heat maps were showing the same thing -all the clans would just gravitate to the biggest action possible. And so a large part thought it wasn’t satisfying because you were basically losing the game by wanting to engage in the biggest conflict, and then at the same time it was like, you had never won a battle against the enemy team, you would always feel like, ‘Okay, I won a battle, but how many people was I actually fighting? Was I fighting fifty, or was I fighting four? Who was I fighting, who did I just defeat?'"
milsims have deep player damage model, inventories, freedom of where to attack, depth in gunplay.... HLL has none of it

it always depends how the time while the enemy is dead, is being used. If the killer camps, he ofc makes no impact. But if he manages to keep constantly advancign and getting their spawn, the difference is there a big deal.

Scum as much XP as possible. Nodes, drop supplies, being a really proactive squadlead + lots of combat effectiveness also helps

The amazing and deep gameplay of build node at the opposite end of the map and leave them
only the career LVL
because at the end of a match the players in the winnign team get +50% post-match bonus while the losers get just +25%
so make sure you don't leave before you see that post-match XP calculator screen

and since the career LVL XP are calculated not just by your own personal score but of the scores of all your squadmates - if you are in a squad where the people have high scores, you can get a lot of XPs even if you personally wouldn't have done anything much
(unlike **class **LVLs - class LVL XPs are calculated by your personal XPs alone and no post match bonuses influence them either)

Hello all - new to the Dicord but 600+ hours in game - I have a question - sorry if it's been discussed before.
What is the utility for the underarm grenade throw? I originally came from Squad who's under arm grenade is really useful. Great for throwing over walls and into windows.
The underarm throw in HLL I have never been able to use effectively as it only goes like 1 or 2 meters. Every time I try and use it it never clears the wall unless I'm directly under it and it only just clears and windows I have to be right next to. Feel like it would be so much more effective if it just went a little bit further.
As proven yesterday when I was proned 2m away from a trench that had enemies in it and an underarm nade coudn't even make it to trench.
also - seperate topic - why does your own nade killing you result in a tk. Asking for a mate

Yeah man, I would also prefer if the max height of an underthrown grenade was like around 2m higher.
It's unnecesarilly dangerous in HLL indeed and one has to pay great deal of attention when releasing the underthrown nade over a not that tall wall.
The Squad mechanic is so so useful and I would use it almost every game in a CQC situation. Have completely given up trying to use it in HLL
and it only works if they are directly over the wall from you - if they are off to one side you have to use the normal throw and try and ark it 10 meters into the air
and even if the wall is low just enough for an underthrow, one has to keep running towards it so the grenade gains momentum that direction too... otherwise there is a good chance it won't go over if thrown while stationary, falls next to you and kills you and potentially some friendlies as well

the performance of your team is heavily dependent on your officers, and your officers are dependent on people playing AT and support, infantry is dependent on tanks and vice versa... you can only do your best and hope everyone else does too

armor squad limit is 6 i think? that’s 18 people who have the ability to drive a tank
however the more tanks you have = the more people you’re taking away from infantry
In my suggestion about the map included the count of soldiers like in game - 400+ casualties from German side in Smolensk in 1943, and 2 Tiger tanks
6 for armor and 20 for a team
It’s like game scenario where were not massive or big battle like Kursk 1943 in real, it were the intense of the battle like not so big

It were 20000+ soldiers on 1 battlefield in Omaha or in Kursk it were 30000+

Ah, I misunderstood - I somehow (mis)thought you meant the MG class would get useless.
But then yeah, I agree - as long as the suppression is just for laugh, such an MG gunner's survavibility would be just a few seconds after opening up. That's why the suppression effects (vs suppressed players' gunplay) need to be overhauled or expanded upon, to make sure a suppressed enemy can't land laser accurate shot like today.
Let's just look at MG gunners on halftracks (when they get stolen by random low LVLs to take them into combat) - those halftrack MG gunners are dead almost instantly, even from the front. And no matter if stationary or even moving... dead very fast in any case. We are just way too much accurate under all the circumstances, even when suppressed.

Im gonna say it again... In Vietnam if you won’t be able to dig tunnels with your own hands, enter them, take cover in them, build traps, etc., then it’ll be a huge disappointment. We had a similar bull*hit feature in Rising Storm and it was the cringiest thing I’ve ever experienced in a war game

unless theres real-time under-fingernail dirt build up, a realistic dirt displacement mechanic and a minigame that takes me 26 mimutes to sharper the stakes before assembling them into a trap with an associated RPG trap building skill with a base fail chance that can be improved with microtransactions - itll be a huge disappointment

Actually digging enterable tunnels is not something I imagine is easy to implement
Rs2 has pre placed tunnels in maps you can enter and buildable ones just act as spawns and that works perfectly fine

Maybe if there would be pre-made buildable tunnels under the map - the players wouldn't be able to build them anywhere they want, just built (or rather unlock/hammer) the already existing parts of the tunnels one by one. The enemy wouldn't be able to know which tunnels are being used and which are not there so randomness would be kept good enough I guess.
Anyway, the tunnels are more of a topic for the #base-camp and not the mess hall 🙂 .
