but it seems that in any case we are about to get into the pre-release playerCounts

Not to mention that back in 2021 the quality of the players was visibly better despite lower numbers. Later, despite we got higher playerCounts than that, those players' quality has been degrading. And today's 3700 is much worse than the 3700 from the July 2021, in terms of players quality.

I thought it's just about HLL, but Squad's veterans seem to be noticing the same thing there too. Do the players (/humans? xD) lose IQ as they acquire "smart" and AI systems? 😃

Players are seemingly becoming just dumber and dumber +lazy, which in the long run may be even a bigger problem than the playerCounts. Especially if the trend continues.

I'd say a lot comes down to knowledge and skill from hours played.
Some people put in more effort than others to learn the different aspects of the game. And some will pick it up faster than others.
I try not to give too much credit to level either, considering the bob builder servers and people who might main auto rifleman to start. When they jump in SL or Command they may still be learning

About that - not being able to unload boxes in HQ is stupid. If the devs connected amount of score/XP rewarded to unloading and to the sector line, would be much better without worring about cheesing the mechanics for XP.

For instance:

• a sup truck box unloaded in HQ sector line would give -80% score/XP
• a sup truck box unloaded in 2nd sector line would give -40% score/XP
• a sup truck box unloaded in 3rd sector line would give normal score/XP
• a sup truck box unloaded in 4th sector line would give +40% score/XP
• a sup truck box unloaded in 5th sector line would give +80% score/XP

Problem solved, restriction to unload the box in HQ sectors not needed.

But it would be better if the restriction was removed all together.

If we would be albe to unload sup truck boxes even in HQ sector line, I have to say though that I would be OK if the sup truck boxes wouldn't be possible to unload in a bubble around the HQ spawn areas though, to make sure griefers wouldn't block everything out (for example by unloading boxes all around the vehicle spawn rectangles spots).

I have been teaching newcomers /uneducated HLL players randomly for years now. Whenever there is a chance, a room and a will, I explain the stuff to such peeps.

2. built-in tutorial system would make sure everybody gets the information and not just if they run into a veteran, and regardless if they talk or not

Let me tell you a story. I played Hell let loose years ago and put it down after 15 hours. Not because the veterans were unfriendly or unhelpful, in fact, someone drove around with me in a tank for a whole match and told me about tank combat.

But I did not have the motivation to communicate, or watch youtube tutorials, or put in the hours to get to the point where it IS fun. That should never ever be a requirement to play any game. Recently I picked it up again, I'm communicating more and I am having more fun. But communicating, even though players often are friendly, can also be a chore.

As you said Sam, people do want to play in a Squad and have fun. New players want this to. Communicating is also a learned skill that can be shown, but not always forced. A new players first has top be familiar with the base mechanics, and maybe then they will start communicating. I am pretty shy irl and in game too, so while squad communication is ok now, Im still having trouble as an officer.

You can not change it if another player simply doesnt like the game. But you can give them time to improve, calm down, try to understand other peoples point of view

This is why i like Squad. Its basically been agreed by the community that if you are uncommunicative you will probably get kicked from a squad. You get server bans for squad baiting, certain useless roles are discouraged and actively kicked as well. And other crucial roles are mic only

Because we already have a decent amount of them. The SS was not the main German fighting force and thus should not be overly represented. A subfaction would be much better. And these face masks were incredibly rare, sure, they existed, but were never seen with a normal SS soldier.
The SS is overrated in general, the game shouldn’t display the majority of the German army as SS. They never were the elite, but sadly many people just continue to believe that they were elite
