Servers stop with the message [Thread-1/INFO]: Stopping server followed by [PebbleHost Daemon]: Detected server process in a crashed state!

  • No prior error logs, crash reports, or performance issues are present before the shutdown.
  • The shutdown does not save world or player data, indicating it is not a controlled stop.
  • Occurs on different server versions and with different plugin sets.
    • I have two servers with PebbleHost

Hi I'm AutoThreadBot! Don't mind me, I'll just be adding the helper team to this thread so they can see it. A human will get to you soon.

Info: logs

Please post your full latest log file.

Background Info: One of the most helpful tools to identifying the source of a problem is your server logs file! Logs contain all sorts of important information like server and plugin versions, any error messages, and a lot more important information (More Info).

How To: Your log can be found in the logs folder within your server folder. The most recent log is a text file labeled latest.log. To get help using these logs, please open that file in a text editor and copy all of the text, then open https://paste.denizenscript.com/New/Log and paste the text into the box on the page. Then click "Submit" and copy the URL and paste that back into this channel.

Please do not upload the file to Discord or to other pastebin services, use the log pastebin linked above.

Can you use our paste site?

#

Our bot doesn't recognize other paste sites.

carmine badger
#

Yeah sure, one moment.

#

By the way, I'm almost certain it has nothing to do with Citizens. I was doing my due diligence, y'know?

[20:00:20] [Server thread/ERROR]: It appears that even though WorldGuard is installed you are using an old unsupported version of it. Please upgrade to enjoy the World Guard integration. :warning: Log contains error messages.

fringe sage
#

Wow that's a uh.

#

That's a very old version.

carmine badger
#

Yeah this is a small community server, I wouldn't pay mind to the version.

#

But the server has been up for many years. I transferred server hosts and we think that something is killing their docker containers in the background

#

like maybe a bad image or something

fringe sage
#

I'm more surprised you even got citizens working considering theres such an ancient version. (Which you wouldn't get support for btw.)

carmine badger
#

Yeah no worries, this isn't about Citizens support

#

This happened on a modern server too

fringe sage
#

How many paid plugins exist on the server? I'm not too familiar with much plugins outside of our projects.

carmine badger
#

I have five premium plugins I believe

#

Many of the authors have confirmed that they have no such DRM in their plugins though

fringe sage
#

How unfortunate. Is this consistent? As in, is it doing it at boot? Or is it completely random?

carmine badger
#

On the 26th, it happened at 4PM

#

On the 27th, it happened at like 8:36 PM

#

My autorestarter is set to restart at very specific times, so it's not a bug or issue there...

fringe sage
#

I was going to say, if it was consistent then you could remove plugins one by one to solve the problem but this is too large of a gap to do that.

#

What a pickle.

carmine badger
#

Yeah this is a crazy issue

#

I think they screwed up their docker image

fringe sage
carmine badger
#

Two days ago, but no plugins were notably updated. I added a restarter plugin that was already on one server for multiple months to the other.

#

We added TCPShield to configure our DDoS protection, but that was also earlier in the week.

fringe sage
#

I cannot say I know the answer to this, hopefully someone else might provide insight, or your hosting provider might be able to help more.

#

I am curious where the problem is originating from though.

carmine badger
#

Hopefully. I was really liking PebbleHost, but they aren't giving me proper communication 🙁

lilac marsh
#

I'd be looking at their container service logs for sure @carmine badger

#

Something is sending sigquit tho

carmine badger
#

Yeah when talking with friends who are a little more versed than me in this, the idea of something sending sigquit was thrown around

carmine badger
#

I don't think I can see the logs myself, but my theory is that they are overselling their budget plans, and a few servers probably spike and start terminating random containers

queen burrow
carmine badger
#

I also have not been experiencing the issue, but there is no guarantee they don't pop out with it again I guess

queen burrow
carmine badger
#

Like don't get me wrong, I do like their service so far and they genuinely do seem helpful, but I may have been dealing with level 1 supports who didn't feel the need to escalate

#

They were so insistent that the problem wasn't there. I imagine there likely were no logs that PebbleHost team could see for the container/daemon, but the container host/manager/whatever probably did have logs indicating the problem

queen burrow
carmine badger
#

If it is the case they are overselling their plans, they likely can't tell the customer that ... it would be very unprofessional

low grove
#

Overselling is pretty much standard because you would expect not every server will be running at 100% capacity all the time, its overselling to the point that people start having issues is the problem

queen burrow
#

for sure, it’s also the gaslighting that “yeah there’s no issue it’s all you, pookie” and the issue magically “fixes itself” after you complain enough lmao

carmine badger
#

Yeah that makes sense. In my case, the fix was them moving one of my servers to a different node LOL

#

But neither of my servers have crashed since, which means they probably moved a handful of servers that day
