Feather client does this, but automates it. I am having trouble setting up the local test server. Is it ok if I use Feather to do this?
i've fixed it thanks
I (and everyone else here, most likely) haven't used feather - we're not sure what it does, but generally I'd recommend just setting up a local Paper server yourself to avoid any potential issues

just a server that runs off your computer
Yes, but does it use Paper? Purpur? Pufferfish? default config? custom settings? is it always the latest version of the server software? or do they modify/limit it somehow? do they have any form if custom handling for stuff? do they modify plugin loading/add in their own plugin?
I'm not saying it's necessarily bad or anything, but when the whole point is having a clean testing environment adding in more external variables isn't the best idea
smth like this yeah, the plugin folder is completely empty when you start it, but yeah i still prefer setting up my own
paper & 1.19.4 or 1.20.1
