Hi I'm AutoThreadBot! Don't mind me, I'll just be adding the helper team to this thread so they can see it. A human will get to you soon.
You can block this bot if you don't want to see these messages, I won't mind.

i'm afraid support 1.17 is dropped, you'll have to update, but you should do so either way for security and perfomance improvements

I can't update my server version.
Thread was manually reopened by @digital mica.
If i do, it will destroy hundreds of Gigabytes of world files.
no it won't
worlds persist fine through updates, particularly ones this small
can back them up if you're worried, but it almost certainly won't be an issue at all
^ Minecraft worlds should be entirely forward-compatible, can always test updating it locally as well
I.e. download a copy of the world and try updating that
Do you really think ill download a 200 gigabyte world, just to "test" out a upgrade?
Its pre 1.19 so the generation is different.
It will delete and regenerate the files
and on top of that
it is a custom world
It won't delete anything, if anything all it'd do is the adding caves below bedrock thing
But as mentioned, can always make a backup, even just a remote one on your host so that you don't have to download anything
Using an outdated versions means bugs, exploits, crashes, worse performance, not being able to get support from us/Paper/other plugins, etc. and generally a whole lot of other downsides for no benefit at all really
Seriously, wish that was true but meh
I mean, that is - what part are you unsure about?
Mojang had major optimizations in recent versions (1.19.4, 1.20) - people on the Paper Discord have been talking about how 1.20 is going to beat even older versions like 1.8; especially in client performance
And the rest of that is just a given for any outdated versions - as time passes exploits, bugs, dupes, etc. are found and get fixed, but only in the latest versions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eLbiImMgcw there are a few videos covering this on YouTube as well, in this case they did a test on a different version with optimization mods, and on vanilla 1.20, and got twice the FPS on 1.20

Snapshot 23W18A for Minecraft 1.20 has massive performance gains! My FPS doubled during a crude test.

That's just a quick test ofc, but the improvements are definitely visible
thats beside the fact that the map is a EARTH map.
1:500 scale
where can I find the build to the maven project?
That doesn't change anything? any map can be updated - Minecraft is specifically built and designed to allow that
There is an entire system specifically for that
what system would that be
the DFU
what do I do with this
Nothing, it's built-in to the game and is used to automatically update worlds
You are picking a very specific part - updating can be the difference between a server-crashing exploits and safe gameplay, there are many many benefits to doing it, and pretty much only downsides to not doing it
For someone who does support, you speak of "exploits" and stuff. I am not worried about any of that or security risks. I just need a straight up 1.17.1 jar file
If you really want to, there are some old jars in #news, but these are entirely unsupported, and we heavily encourage you to just properly update
ill take my chances

You can reopen it anytime, it's not locked or anything

@teal mulch
what would the build number be
for sentinel
/ping
!rule 3
Don't ping for help. https://denizenscript.com/discord_rules#rule3
"Pinging" refers to using an @ to alert somebody to your post.
Generally only ping somebody if your message is very specifically directed at them (meaning, only that person has anything to do with the information in your message, and it would be confusing who it was for without the ping).
If you're asking a question, please just make a forum post and ask.
If you have a bug report or a feature request, please just make a forum post about it.
If this is pulled up for you by a helper, your ping was unneeded.
If you're arguing about it, you're wrong.
Everyone are volunteers, when someone sees it they will helo, no need to ping
Old sentinel builds are in #news

not quite.

Just did some research, and Yes it will break my world if i update with opening the world to a newer mc version.
but it doesn't appear to be solely sentinel related, it's just the version misunderstandings
i'll respond to this via a post in #1027976885520584814, but per the previous thread, my download is almost done and i'll help with verifying that it can be updated to a supported version we can offer support for
re-applying the closure earlier
