(Tofaa) Denizen fails to startup due to 1.19.2 class not found even though the server is 1.19.2
Hi I'm AutoThreadBot! Don't mind me, I'll just be adding the helper team to this thread so they can see it. A human will get to you soon.
You can block this bot if you don't want to see these messages, I won't mind.

!patchversions
We support only the latest patch-version of Minecraft for any recent main version (and Mojang, Spigot, Paper, etc. all generally also follow the same rule).
"Patch version" means the last number in a version label, for example in 1.18.2, the main version is 1.18, and the patch version is .2.
So if 1.18.2 is the latest patch version, then 1.18.1, and 1.18(.0) are all outdated patch versions, and therefore are unsupported.
Note that we do still support recent older main versions (such as 1.17 and 1.16) so long as you are on the latest patch-version of those main versions (like 1.17.1 and 1.16.5).

You need 1.19.3
Well that's very silly
Using an outdated patch-version is putting your server at risk of bugs, exploits, crashes, etc. and makes it really hard for anyone to support you (Paper, us, other plugins, etc.)
Updating is really easy to do, and we are more than happy to help you in any way
No need to give me that predefined reply I'm aware of what patch versions are, it's just extremely silly that that's the way you guys handle it
you're running paper; they don't even support it.
Support what?
developing on outdated patch-versions
older versions?
it just doesn't work.
I have no idea what you mean by it just doesn't work
Well, supporting an outdated patch-version would be a lot more work for contributors and developers, back-support mess to keep compatibility, etc. (especially as Denizen uses a fair bit of NMS / packets)
That's also a very weak argument granting patch versions usually do not contain major updates, not as many as lets say 1.16 to 1.19 has (which you do support)
it doesn't work as in you can't build anything from source. if there were a problem however, we couldn't resolve any issues that you could use - it would target 1.19.3
For not much benefit, as servers will need to update anyway - can't stay on old versions forever
Regardless though thanks for the quick reply
Too old! (Click the link to get the exact time)
pepeEvil
what
Well, not really - 1.19.3 reworked entity data handling, changed the player profile packet formats a fair bit, etc.
Brother in christ it is just slight packet modifications, an already completely documented system. Entity data handling fair point but again not as complicated as the features added between 1.16 and 1.19
It would be a lot of work for developers, without any big benefits as opposed to just helping users update
But either way - we are happy to help with updating / any updating issues you may have if you'd like, otherwise you can try using an older version, but that is obviously unsupported
(And also just for reference, Behr meant that it's the same in most other places - if you ask for help in the Paper Discord using an outdated patch-version they'll likely just ask you to update)

@stuck rose
that's cause the paper community is extremely scummy related to support stuff
No worries I got it, thanks for the offer :D
Have a nice day
You too :D
