#Token Problems

Does the link work in your browser?
yes it works in my browser
Then you can put that file in the location shown in the screenshot and it will work. Hopefully the problen solves itself by the next time you update
How far down the folder path can you go before it stops?
That's the location. Put tokens.xml there
How do I do that
If you can reach the link in your browser you can download the file
It will show as tokens in your download folder
Then move it there
How do I download the file
Go to the download URL in your browser. The browser should start the download on its own
Weird, I don't see it downloading
What do you see?
I just see the page and nothing else
What's on the page?
Yoink it in that folder alongside the cards file
No, that's it. You don't need to do it through Oracle anymore
You did manually what Oracle does on its own
it could be your pc clock is wrong
What do you mean?
if your pc has the wrong time set it will be unable to make ssl connections
What should my clock be set to?
the current time
I set it to the current time but its still not working
no it works fine in browser
I'm using windows 7
I see
it's difficult for us to do testing on windows 7, it might be that there is an issue with certificates installed or a ssl library incompatibility
perhaps relying on manually placing the file will be the easiest
do you encounter other issues? eg connecting to the server?
yeah I can't connect to the server either
hmm
we changed the requirements for rooster ranges in the 2.10 update, ssl is now required and there is no alternative port anymore
chickatrice would still work with port 4748 I think
It may still be that Qt bug with SSL certificates
Is there PowerShell on Windows 7?
Also please, I'm begging you, don't use Windows 7 in a networoed environment. May I interest you in Linux Mint?
Actually, do you have Internet Explorer in there?
Yeah
Can you try going to https://raw.githubusercontent.com and https://server.cockatrice.us in IE?
I went to those 2 links on different tabs and they did nothing
yeah, that means the problem is ssl certificates
at least, with nothing you mean it shows an error?
oh, it's supposed to do that
oh ok
I would have liked if @thorny escarp would put the server details here again like they were before the 2.10 update though
Hi there
What would you like me to do? Happy to help
Ohhh the website, public index
Let me see what I can do later. If I remember
it's only relevent for sanity checks like this tbh, not that important
And now if you try again to run Oracle or connect to Rooster Ranges does it still spit an SSL error?
Are you sure that's Internet Explorer?
Yes
Just making sure. It looks an awful lot like Edge
oh wait when I clicked on internet explorer it automically closed it and went to edge
Please try to get the actual IE. No clue if it's even possible
The issue may be the fact that Qt uses a system to validate SSL certificates that modern browsers bypass entirely, except it uses it wrong. That's fine enough in most situations but it can create problems
IE may just be old enough to use that same system while using it correctly, which because of reasons may help with the Qt issue
Not gonna lie, I didn't even know Edge was available on W7
I think chromium, which is what edge is, has its own cert storage
cockatrice uses the system cert storage, which on win7 probably stopped receiving updates
Yep, that's why I want good old pure IE
Wonderful. Did this solve the issue with Oracle and Rooster Ranges?
That is, can you download tokens through Oracle and connect to Rooster Ranges in client?
If not, I'm out of ideas
Well, the last idea would be to add the root certs manually, but that's sketchy at best
it can still be a library issue
In a sense it is a library issue because Qt SSL stack uses Windows SSL verification system in a bad way
Yep
No its not connecting unfortunately
the tokens are also not working I think I just might be cooked
Damn. That's all from me unfortunately
As a closing statement I would like to reiterate that using W7 in 2025 is a bad idea overall and I recomment updating to a contemporary Linux distro. Mostly because W10 is also reaching end of life and W11 probably doesn't run on that hardware
This would also incidentally solve your Cockatrice issues
will 2025 be the year of the linux desktop?
gotcha I was looking at linux mint
I run Mint and it's great. Unfortunately there have been reports of issues with Cockatrice on Mint specifically because of dependencies with different names
No. It will be the year of e-waste from people getting new hardware to run W11
😔
