Alternative surrender - join crew

I think it could be neat if ships that are surrendering could offer to join your crew instead of money -
"We Surrender! ...We have little of value, but let us serve you instead - we just wanted a life in space... and got into a bad deal or two..."
This would probably include the ship joining you, though of course it has several suspiciously your-weapon-shaped holes in the everywhere... but it gives you the chance to build a new quarters or whatever before taking them in and deconstructing the old ship

This option might only come up if you are significantly stronger than them

I like this idea as well.

You could also make it cost a bit of faction reputation, since you're harboring criminals.

and it can maybe be a way to befriend a pirat station, but than all factions will be aganst you.
